  • @ajstevenson that's not a confession, that's an act of superior restraint.  Only TWO?  I'm impressed.

  • @dmontgo I think in my head I was thinking of a situation like a vbac where me and my providers felt like induction was likely to not be successful. I'd talk with yours when it comes time about the specific situation and how they expect it to go. I do think my fffc was sort of a useless thing to post - sorry.  It's so situational

  • @dmontgo An induction can go well if your body is favorable and responds well. I did have a CS because L was breech and pooped, but otherwise I would have had a nice relaxed induction.

I was dilated and effaced, plus my cervix was soft. That led my doctor to try a very straight forward pitocin+water broken induction. It worked really well, until we saw that L was frank breech and had pooped.

My point being make sure you know going into that day what is happening and why. If your body is ready-ing itself induction should work. If its not, then maybe pick a straightforward CS.

  • @slartybartfast I've been struggling with my feelings about this since I was made aware of the BP stuff. I think a lot of it is FTM jitters in addition to the risks of high BP-- I've just never done this before! If I am induced at 39 weeks I do feel more confident my body will respond well, but it's such a departure from the birth I thought I'd have.

I feel good knowing what day everything will start though. That takes a lot of stress out for me.
  • @dmontgo I can't remember if I'd asked this before or if its possibly with the high BP but would they let you try the induction and leave if it doesn't work? When I got induced they started with cervadil and said if it hadn't worked they would let me go home and try again.
  • @SmashJam They won't let me go home once I'm admitted until baby shows up. I'm being induced December 12th, and the doctor said he won't let me go past December 13th because of the strain labor does to the body and BP. :/
  • As an extension of this topic, my FFC is that I'm irrationally jealous of people who have a scheduled induction or c-section date. Even if you go into labor early at least you know you should have a baby by x date.
  • @DiFazette Next appointment I will ask more questions because I had similar thoughts, especially because I would be induced on the night of the 12th... not even the morning! I'm hoping there was just some miscommunication regarding the dates. I'll see him again next week like always so I'll be sure to inquire!
