Re: PGAL Check In Week of 10/24

  • So my midwife just called and said the baby is size of 6 weeks 2 days when I had my ultrasound giving my June 16 due date but that the heart rate was only 80bpm, they have requested another ultrasound apt could be a week but that being so low I could miscarry again. Has anyone had this and it be OK, I can't last a week not knowing

  • @NamelessAria Yay!! So glad your appt went well!

Introduce yourself if you haven't yet.
I am still here ... waiting! Previous MC in 2014, 15 month sweet boy and MC in Sept. Updating from last week below!

    How far along are you?
    6 weeks 1 day ... we think!

    How are you doing?
Hanging in there ... appt this morning went well. No news is good news ... right!! Still trying to figure out what's going on but now I at least have a date!

    When is your next appointment?
    Next Wednesday

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Only raves and positive vibes ... happy to still be here for today! And thankful for having everyone to get through it together!

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child?
I believed and told my mom all the time that she had stolen me from my father the king! Haha

  • @lumilumi we did not get a heartbeat at 6 weeks when I was pregnant with my 15 month old ... I think it just depends and with him it took longer! Good luck tomorrow!
  • How far along are you? 6w3d

How are you doing? Good. I'm feeling optimistic that I keep progressing, but I'm a little worried that my progesterone was borderline low when they tested it last week (I started progesterone) and there wasn't a heartbeat at my ultrasound yesterday. However, they are not worried at all so I'm trying not to be either. They said everything looks great.

When is your next appointment? 11/8 (8 week ultrasound)

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I scheduled my first appointment with the OB (my regular gyno doesn't do obstetrics). The earliest they can see me is at 12 weeks, but I'm still seeing my RE so it should be fine.

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child? I thought boogers were bugs that flew up your nose and died. I blame my older brothers, they always told me ridiculous "facts." To be fair, I was very young.

@JAGinMI definitely push for it. That's a totally valid reason, and I've learned to advocate for myself and my kids, and sometimes I have to be a little pushy about it. Doctors/midwives are experts, but they're not experts on you and your situation.

    Hello ladies!

    How far along are you?
    I am 7w3d / EDD June 11th

    How are you doing?
I am doing good. I feel that after my first U/S when we saw our baby's heartbeat, I am better at managing my anxiety. I am allowing myself to be excited most of the times.

    When is your next appointment?
    Tomorrow Thursday Oct 27th, yay!

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes
Rant: For a couple of days I've started waking up in the middle of the night to pee. I guess that's me now.
Positive Vibes: I read my PGAL mantra every morning. I am thankful that today I am pregnant and I love my baby. I find this brings me peace of mind to start the day.

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child?
I thought we were empty inside, and food just piled up inside your body, so whenever you ran out of space, you grew up! LOL

  • @mrt what did you think??

Okay this might be flame worthy. But here I go.

I'm not "bonding" with this baby like I did with my girls or other pregnancies. This baby wasn't supposed to happen. It did, and it's a miracle baby. But right now all its doing is making me sick and feel like a craptasic Mom to my girls. With my other pregnancies we were trying to get pregnant. Including seeing an RE. So when I had morning sickness or the exhaustion I was okay because I was just so thankful that I was pregnant. This time I'm just annoyed. I don't know if I'm subconsciously protecting myself against another loss or if I'm just a horrible person.

Am I alone? I really do hate feeling this way, so some advice would be wonderful.

Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
  • You're not alone. And I wonder if you might be subconsciously trying to protect yourself from potential hurt again? I know that's where I'm at.

I wish I had advice. I just try to remind myself that today I am pregnant and I love my baby. I can't think about tomorrow because it's not here. I'm also enjoying listening to a podcast with pregnancy meditations, it's helping me trying to connect with this baby.

Introduce yourself if you haven't yet.
Hi! My name is Sarah. I had my first loss on September 18 at 4w5d and managed to conceive right after which was a blessing, but is also making me nervous.

    How far along are you?
    I'm 5w3d, due June 25

    How are you doing?
I'm getting anxious about my first appointment next week. I'm worried that because I'll only be 6w1d that we won't hear the heartbeat and I'll get lost in my head.

    When is your next appointment?
    Halloween morning, 9am

    Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:
I feel bad, but I am not a pleasant person at all if I don't get to nap at least once during the day. I'm a stay at home mom to a one year old who wants to run around and get into everything all day and it's really draining me extra this time around! On the plus side, I guess that means this baby is really sticking in there  :)

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child?
I thought that your vagina dilated when you went into labor so the baby could just slide out hahaha pretty disappointed when it came time to watch the sex ed videos...
  • @sarahannexvi I wish that's how labor worked!!  I'm trying not to think about the actual giving birth because it freaks me out.

  • @thatlauragirl yeah I think that's what it is. Im just normally a positive person so it's just so weird for me to not be super excited. I can't wait for my ultrasound, it just so happens to be right around when I lost my mmc baby. Hopefully seeing a nice strong heartbeat will make me feel better.

Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
  • How far along are you? 6 weeks 2 days

How are you doing?  I am feeling really crummy but that is giving me some confidence that things may be going well. I've been able to tell a couple more people and have been slightly more excited, while still harboring some fears. I'm not working so I think the lack of motivation to get off the couch is my biggest enemy right now.

When is your next appointment? Tomorrow morning is blood work and conversation. I don't expect an US, but we might due to my history.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My husband is going to Honduras in a week and a half. My doctors questions will be including Zika awareness all throughout my pregnancy. I am really not looking forward to that. Did some reading today, and pretty much when he gets back, we're not having sex again until the baby is out.

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child? My dad liked to listen to rock and roll on car trips and would occasionally profess after a favorite "I wrote that song." I believed him for a little while. I never remember being embarrassed when I became wise to the fib, because it was all in good fun.

  • Introduce yourself if you haven't yet. Hello. I'm new to the June 2017 Birth board. I had a MMC in May of this year at 11 weeks. We found out at my NT screening. My D&C was a few days later. This would have been the first pregnancy for my husband and I. This second time around we have been trying since July.

How far along are you? 6 weeks, 4 days

How are you doing? Physically, I've been nauseous most mornings. Emotionally, my fears are getting the best of me.

When is your next appointment? Tonight is the appointment with my doctor's office to confirm my pregnancy.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Unfortunately, I have more negative vibes than positive. Every time I feel a twinge or a cramp, I assume the worst. Every time I go to the bathroom I am examining the TP for blood (sorry if TMI). I am having trouble sleeping because I am so stressed out that something is wrong. I should be blocked from using Google. I really want to enjoy this because I feel fortunate it only took three cycles to conceive but I am constantly reliving the events of May.

GTKY: What hilarious thing did you believe when you were a child?  I believed my grandfather when he sang a song about watermelon growing out of my ear. Terrifying. I'm not sure what song it was or where he found it.

  • @mrlight labor scared me too, but once the time came I just kept telling myself that my body is meant to do it and it became mind over matter and it helped A LOT! I know everyone is different, but it's worth a shot  :)

@c1tym0m22 it's totally difficult. My husband was a little upset with me for testing early again because we both agreed I would wait until my period was a week late before testing this time around in hopes that I wouldn't realize I was having another chemical (which is impossible, I was in a lot of pain with my chemical) so I just keep hoping that the baby is sticking and growing and that thinking about the worst isn't going to bring on negative energy  :/
  • mrtmrt member
@awoodruff27 you're not alone, this was planned and tried for and I've felt so awful I've definitely had moments when I go "what was I thinking? Two was good, why did I want to do this again?"

Also, TWD: shocked... I'm not sure I can watch anymore. I barely watched the rest of the episode.
  • I'm so glad to see all of the positive ultrasounds this morning!!  I also had my first u/s this morning.  Baby is measuring on track at 6 weeks 3 days!  As of today, there is only one, but she said we would be able to tell a little better next week. We could see the heartbeat, but we couldn't hear it today.  We go back next week for another u/s.

  • Love all the good news today! I see my actual doctor tomorrow and I'm hoping she will sneak in their in room ultrasound.  I had a vaginal one last week but it's always nice to see that little heartbeat again! Also my apt is at 8am and I'm bringing both toddlers so that should be fun.
  • More good news on this board, my doctor stuck me into a sono appointment today and I saw baby and heartbeat. The sonographer was happy with 115bpm at 6w2d. Advice for others who might get plopped into a US on their first appointment, bring water and fill your bladder for the appointment so you don't get nervous when they can't find anything with an external search. I know that's difficult to do when you already have to do a urine sample and blood tests, but sipping on water during your appointment should be allowed.

I'm feeling pretty good. I know the odds are currently higher in my favor than they were last year, now that I have confirmed my baby has a normal early heartbeat.
Good to know! This makes me feel a bit better about hearing the heartbeat so early. I'll be 6w1d for my appointment on Monday and I've been stressing about not being able to hear the heartbeat.
  • Introduce yourself if you haven't yet.  Hi, I just found out two days ago that I'm pregnant again.  I have two little boys, a 5 year old and a 3 year old.  I had a mc in May after learning at my first appointment at 9 weeks that the baby failed to develop.  We took a couple months to heal and decided to continue trying for #3 in July.

How far along are you? 5w1d

How are you doing? I'm a mess.  I'm completely freaking out.  I have constant cramping, which I've had with each of my pregnancies, but I can't help remembering that this is how I felt before my mc.  I'm sad and scared and anxious.

When is your next appointment? My first appointment is 11/18.

Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I really debated posting on The Bump because I'm afraid to believe this is actually real.  I keep thinking it's going to end any minute.  I try to spend my life living in the positive and being an upbeat person, and I don't really know how to handle all this anxiety.  In the end, I posted because I think talking with people who are in similar situations will be helpful, hopefully for all of us.

  • @cmread I'm glad you decided to post here. This journey is scary enough as it is, better to be with people who understand. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!
