Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Thursday 10/27

Re: WTO Thursday 10/27

  • Month/Cycle:  2nd month (I think)

CD: Not sure.  I am 13 days late, and not pregnant.

WAYDTGKU:  So far just lots of sex, esp during the fertile window.

R/R: So I'm 13 days late, and just did a qualitative test yesterday and found out this morning it was negative.  I have no idea what my body is doing!  I'm super new at tracking this ovulation thing and I, like everyone here, really want a baby.  I really want to know when I'm supposed to ovulate again, but my doctor just said to relax and my period will probably start.  Is that a thing?  I just want to know so we can start trying again.  Don't get me wrong, we've had successful sex in this time frame, but I don't know if there was even a possibility of conception.

CS/Q:  Not sure how to go about this!  I don't have a chart yet.  I guess I'll start one once I get regular again!

GTKY: Are you, your kids, or pets dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you / they being? If not, what were you last time you did?  I don't think we'll be dressing up.  My husband works an overnight shift that evening and I work a thirteen hour shift, so I'll just pass out some candy and head to bed when I get home.  Especially since I have another shift the next morning at 6 am!

@RunrestRepeat Take your temp at different times of the day to see if it's broken.
@Nelbetron I can't tell since you are missing a lot of temps.
@MrsN092714 That looks like a normal fluctuation, so I wouldn't call it a drop.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • Thanks for all the help, ladies! I didn't even think about testing the bbt at different times of day - duh!

@cosbyae - How are you determining your fw if you aren't temping or using opks? Also, your CD is tracked by the first day of your last period, which would be CD1 - if you know when your last period started you should be able to count from there!

  • @Mrs_Jp I have a drawer in the bathroom where I put my blow dryer, curling iron, flatiron, hairbrush.....and my opks, hpts, and piece of paper with opks, tape, and a pen lol DH has no reason to go in that drawer :)

@LuND oh nooo not xanthan gum :D I hate when that happens. I'm celiac but I tend to use corn starch slurry to thicken most things, tho I've definitely used too much before, too! I think arrowroot powder is another gf thickening option? Oh, and high cervix is a good thing, no? Sorry for your crappy dream and gassy morning ;)

@wabash15 I'm chuckling pretty hard about your H's dream Halloween costumes and how he didn't include you in his master plan! What a butt! :D

@Dinosaur I don't know if you'll see this but I was actually wondering after seeing your individual temps if maybe you're having a fallback rise pattern this cycle? I was thinking you O'd, too, but was afraid to say anything lol
  • @Sugargirl1019  Thanks so much, I'm just confused as to how this works I guess.  I'm more often at a 28 day cycle, but I've had btwn 29-31 days before.  So at this point I'm at day 41?  It's so weird.  Maybe I'm just not as regular as I thought.  I've been off the pill for about 8 months, NTNA until this last month.

@Buthayna I'll get one of those special thermometers.  I didn't realize they made them so accurate.  I say 13 days late, because that's what one of my tracker apps told me.  I'll definitely start doing a temp in the morning.

    Thanks y'all!

  • @RunRestRepeat  So my last period was Sept 17th-21st.   I didn't know that temping was the only way to know for sure that you're ovulating.  So I'm going to start that as soon as I get out and buy one!

  • @cosbyae If you haven't read it yet, I'd also suggest getting a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's literally life altering. I had NO idea about a lot of it before I read it.
  • @cosbyae you may have ovulated late (or been anovulatory as pp mentioned), which will make your cycle longer. Were there any big changes or stressors during this cycle? Since you're not tracking yet (other than on a calendar) it's impossible to know. I would recommend taking a hpt once or twice a week (get some cheapies) if you still haven't gotten your period and see your doctor again if you reach 60 days without AF. In the meantime, find a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility (TCOYF); it's incredibly helpful!
  • @cosbyae That's the awesome thing about this board - you'll learn so much! I just started temping this cycle, and already feel more empowered by knowing what my body is doing :)

  • @Sugargirl1019 timehop has made me realize that I took way more pics of DD1 than I have of DD2. Your pet mommy photo anxiety is real. You can do better than I have, lol
@cosbyae agree with the other ladies. A warning: temping probably won't tell you much this cycle because you have no idea where you are in it, but it'll be good to get into the habit of it.
  • @cosbyae first off welcome.  I would highly recommend reading the pinned intro threads and picking up a copy of TCOYF.  These should give you a great deal of information about your cycle.  How are you tracking your cycles/timing of intercourse? are you temping? using OPK's? following 2ndary signs such as CM or CP? as @Sugargirl1019 said your not 13 days late, you just ovulated later than you think you did. OK now for some basics.... CD1 is the first day of full flow, we generally recommend temping with a Basal body thermometer (one that goes to the hundreth) Many of us us a MABIS ($8 on amazon) but you can find others at a pharmacy or big box store. temping is the only way to confirm ovulation other than an ultrasound. OPK's will help you narrow down your fertile window, but be aware that a + does not equal ovulation as some women get false surges prior to ovulation. (hence the need to temp). Watching CM to see if it becomes fertile (watery or EWCM) and or checking your CP can also help indicate your fertile window. if you use the search function how to check these have been discussed extensively, though we are always willing to lend help if your having problems).  The general guideline is that if you go 60 days with no AF and a neg pregnancy test then you should contact your doctor. The whole relax and you'll get KTFU is a bunch of bull, if your Dr is telling you that I might look for another doc.  We also have a saying around here, your regular till your not. Very few women reliably have a 28day cycle with O on day 14. every women is different and every cycle is different. There are some women on here who don't temp for personal reasons but it is harder to give them help in terms of tracking their cycle. GL, read up, and learn a lot from these ladies as they are amazing!

  • @wabash15  I've only had one fertile window tracked and it wasn't that accurately done.  I tried looking at my CM but wasn't exactly sure of it so when I get into the swing of it I'll do that plus temping.   I guess technically she's not my doctor, she's my usual PA.  I just went to her when I missed my period for a little piece of mind.  Now I'm on here and will start trying to get more accurate results.

@cosbyae what @Sugargirl1019 and @Buthayna said. You're regular until you're not, so there's really no such thing as "late".... just a long cycle. Are you temping or taking OPKs? Tracking CP or CM? If you're going off past cycles or the "typical" CD14 O date then you may be super inaccurate in where you think you are in your cycle. Did you recently get off BC? That could also be playing a factor.

Yeah I usually use arrowroot powder, but recently discovered that xanthan gum is cheaper..... hadn't had an issue with it until I overdosed myself with it last night! And yes to corn starch, I just try to avoid corn products when possible.

And you're right, high cervix is good, I just can't palpate the firmness nor feel for how open it is when it's so damn high! I seriously don't think it's ever been this high in the 4 cycles that I've checked CP/CM!
  • @LuND hoping that's a good sign!!! Sometimes I have to squat and bear down a little to check firmness when it's super high....lol so classy

  • I don't know if 16 year old cousin is pregnant or what, but it's really weird that she seems obsessed with baby stuff and sharing it with her BF on FB.

Theres only one RE clinic in my province. The wait is 7 months, I've already been waiting 2. I'll go on the cancellation list about 3 months out.

I was doing harness training with bee cat when I put the costume on her so she was fine
  • @ahrains

So happy things are moving forward for you! And omg---- your Halloween costumes.....absolutely amazing; I love it!!!

@LadyMillil that's right, you're in Saskatchewan, yes? I'm so frustrated for you. The wait times in canada's health care system are atrocious :(
  • @ahrains I'm glad to see your jumping back in. Hooray that AF is here and you can get on with testing. I hope your RE is able to come up with a plan that works for you!

R/R: My work day started with a meeting first thing, and while I was in that meeting, I saw a string of emails that had totally blown up. Bottom line is that there's an event that I'm key in organizing that is at the beginning of December. What started it out was this lady, who has had all of the information she needs delivered to her, was all sorts of confused and included an awesome all-caps complaint about things being disorganized. Because she didn't think I would ever be on the email string. Luckily, my boss stepped in and sent an email straightening her out and basically called her out for failing to comprehend something simple.

CS/Q: Nothing. Still just waiting. WTO is kinda lame when you're a CD 17-19er.

GTKY: Are you, your kids, or pets dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you / they being? If not, what were you last time you did?
I can't ever think of a good costume for me and frankly, we never have dress-up parties to go to so I'd pretty much be dressing up just to hang out alone. BUT, of course the dog has a costume! I found two awesome ones at Marshall's this year so he has a dragon one and a turtle one. And YES, there absolutely should be an AW your or your pet's costume thread on Halloween. :)

CD:1, just moved over here from the TWW thread. Hi All!!!

WAYDTGKU: We are trying to take the casual and fun route to TTC, ha! I drove myself crazy in my last TWW. I am currently just using a cycle calendar and HOI during my "green" week. Well, I thought I ovulated earlier than my calendar said and sure enough, I did. I started today, 4 days early. I might try an even more casual approach this cycle because I was going BSC with the SS and turns out they were all in my head lol! We will start officially TTC at the start of the new year if it doesn't work out. Until then I am trying to have fun, keep pressure low and learn from all of you.

    R/R: AF is a bitch

CS/Q: I am honestly so intimidated by temping and charting!

GTKY: Are you, your kids, or pets dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you / they being? If not, what were you last time you did?

My son is adamant on being Spiderman and my daughter is going to be a duck. I cannot imagine trying to get my cats to cooperate. I will be going as a mombie, which is rather fitting at this point in my life!

This is my first post in WTO thread so I am looking forward to getting to know you a little better!
  • @ahrain I'm glad you took some time away when you needed it.  I hope you get some answers!!  Also, glad your other tests seem to be good :)

  • @morgy_bee I know it sounds daunting but it's not that hard. I only temped at first, and it's easy enough--you just have to be consistent. I've been lucky because every cycle O has been pretty clear. My charts are easy to figure out. And then if you're like me, it's nice to have data to try to interpret.
  • rainbowturtles - Had to look that term up lol. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Thanks for the input!
  • Hey. I've been MIA lately while I was on my work trip. I'm now at the airport and so pumped to get home.
