Quick morning sickness question

Hi! Is anyone using Diclegis? It was making my life bearable until yesterday when all hell broke loose and i couldn't keep anything down. The doctor suggested I take one in the morning (I've only been doing 2 at night) but the thing is it knocks me the eff out during the day, which doesn't work on days that I go into the office. Do any of you take it during the day? Does it just take a few days to be able to stay awake? Thank you in advance!

I don't think this post would've made sense for any of the daily chat post things, but if I'm wrong, please correct me!

I had to take it along with Zofran with my twins but I took Zofran in the morning and 1- Diclegis at night.

It might have been me that mentioned diclegis in an hg post. With my ms I have a hard time reading through really long posts without getting totally nauseated, which is super annoying, I realize. So appreciate the reaponses here! I might try Zofran instead for during the day. I have that too now !

Since Diclegis has doxylamine (first generation, Histamine H1 antagonist, same class as Benadryl) in it, you will probably just be sleepy throughout the day if you take it in the morning. You can always talk to your doctor or pharmacist about what to do for your morning sickness. I hope you get feeling better soon!

I do unisom at night and diclegis in the afternoon. I don't find that I'm too tired to function.

I had to take 4 tablets per day (1 morning, 1 afternoon, 2 at bedtime) for weeks 6 through around 9 and a half. It made me VERY tired during the day and for me, it only took just the edge off of the nausea.

I've been taking two at night and one in the morning. I couldn't function taking it right when I got up so I've started setting an alarm for two hours before I plan on getting up and taking it then! I'm still drowsy but I can at least function. I've also started doing things like washing and drying my hair at night so I can get a little extra sleep in the morning.

I was taking it 4 x a day. After about the third day I didn't get tired anymore. I have since come off it and gone only to b6 and it seems to work but I can't take the b6 too close to bedtime because I stay up for hours past 11pm. But this morning sickness is so up and down this pregnancy. I thought it was gone like twice now but nope, it keeps coming back.

YES it is rough taking it during the day. I take two at night one in the morning and one in mid afternoon and it is basically sleeping medicine so I have to have a little caffeine to ride it out. Good luck- it's worked great for me this time around and Im thankful for the relief.

Has anyone taken it while nursing? I am struggling something awful with all day nausea and puking but my 15 month old is still nursing 3/4 times a day. The internet say mostly not to but my OB said it was probably fine, if it's not harmful to a fetus it should be ok for a toddler. I haven't taken it yet but I'm sort of at my wits end and strongly considering it.

@bgrant172 : I think your OB has provided a great piece of advice there: If it's ok to take while pregnant, it should be okay while BFing. Maybe give a call to your pediatrician's office and get their take on it. Feel better soon!

I totally get this. I just had to spend a week basically away from this board ( and my phone in general) because it made me too nauseous to look at the screen. Anyway I hope Zofran helps. I can't take either drug because of work and I'm miserable !

@bgrant172 Oh no! I can't imagine nursing while feeling like this, I can barely read to my kids. You're a hero. I'd listen to your doctor, too!

In case it helps others...for me Zofran didn't do much for my nausea which was my bigger problem compared to actually throwing up. I had constant nausea which was horrible. When I finally started taking unisom and b6 (sort of making your own dicigles) it made a huge difference. I still take zofran if I'm having a day where I'm throwing up a lot because it will stop that, but every day I take unisom and b6 and I feel a million times better.

Yea calling the pediatrician is a good idea, although I don't feel like anyone ever says "sure everything will be 100% fine" it's always more like, here's the pros and cons, you decide. I get it but I just want someone to tell me the right thing to do
