2: What are your goals for the week ahead
? At least get out and walk 30m-1hr a day. I've been limited by my Dr bc of my severe sciatica pain. I had a horrible car accident and subsequently found out I was expecting in the ER in July....(yay!!!!!) .....unfortunately nobody can do anything for me until my little angel makes his way into the world.

3: How was last week? I got out to walk 4x. I consider that pretty good since my weeks are non stop with the kids and work.

4: How are you or have you treated your self? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments
? I made Wacky Wednesday cake with my 4yo and we enjoyed a slice together.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I saw the Dr last week and I've put on a total of 8 pounds. Feel pretty down about it honestly.

6: GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did you like growing up with this number? How many siblings do you want your LO(s) to have
? I have one sibling. A younger brother. I would like my kids to have 2-3 siblings. My grandmother had a disturbing notion she shared with me a long time ago. Its depressing....but I get the concept. She said "you should always have at least three kids so that if one dies that two still have each other."

    Yes, she is crazy.

  • @kjd291 I've also been struggling with seeing the weight go up on the scale. I made an executive decision to stop weighing myself. Also, @bradleerick I've been feeling the SAME way about my boobs!!! It's such a weird feeling!!!

1: How far along are you? 18 weeks and 2 days. (Side note... how are we already like halfway through?!??)

2: What are your goals for the week ahead
? would like to do a minimum 3 gym workouts plus 1 yoga class. But will try to get 4 gym workouts if I can.

3: How was last week? Despite being in work AND a conference last week, was able to do 3 workouts last week.

4: How are you or have you treated your self? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments
? I've been eating half a bar of dark chocolate almost every night. I have no regrets.

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? While I've been experiencing an increase in energy this trimester, I feel like I'm REALLY struggling for energy when I do cardio. I having no problem with the weights, but I just feel like my muscles are so tired on the cross trainer (but not necessarily me if that makes sense?). GP said today that my BP is low, so idk if that's part of it. But I may need to rethink my cardio plan.

6: GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did you like growing up with this number? How many siblings do you want your LO(s) to have
? I am the oldest of four kids as well I have a brother who is 28, a sister who is 16 and a brother who is 14. Although I technically have 3 siblings, my baby bro and sis feel more like cousins to me. My brother and I aren't much alike, and we were never really close, but I liked the company. So DH and I will probably have 2 kids total. But no more... I don't like the idea of being out numbered... haha!!

  • PS... Remember last week when I vented about my anatomy scan? I emailed my doc about it, and just got her response...  "I am sorry, usually the tech is nice and helpful. Maybe she had a bad day. The ultrasound was normal, the placenta and the anatomy was all normal and the baby weighed 10 oz! All good."
So even though the experience was less than stellar, grateful that all is well with our little baby!!!
  • Fit mamas, I haven't been part of your group because I felt so awful during first trimester, but I'm ramping up my activity now. (I was a runner/crossfit person before pregnancy.) Do any of you have recommendations for a good pre-natal yoga video? I'm looking for YouTube stuff to supplement a weekly class. Thanks!!
  • 1: How far along are you? 16w6d

2: What are your goals for the week ahead
? Got my 5 workouts in! ...I'm gonna aim for 5 again this week...had wanted to get one in this afternoon but it's not gonna happen since I have too little time before I have to get ready for class tonight...oh well.

3: How was last week? good! I met my workout goal AND got to go to the farm Sat. night w/ DH to see all the animals and pick out pumpkins! Felt a little guilty for not visiting the in-laws & going out to dinner instead, but hey we've gotta take advantage of our date nights now before they go extinct once LO arrives!

4: How are you or have you treated your self? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments
    ? Halloween candy ;)

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Rant: I hate how SLOWWWW my computer is now when I use this site. It's literally only the bump site, all the newer popup things are slowing it down - even though I have no problem with popups on any other site I just don't get it or how the settings could have changed...anyone know how to speed it up? (I just had the image pop in my head of the I Love Lucy episode with the chocolate factory & the lady yelling "speed it up!!" lol random.) I use Chrome, idk if that matters.  Rant 2: my dog pooped in the house on my bathroom rug today. It's been almost a year since he had an accident in the house, and I feel like it's partially my fault b/c I got stuck at work a bit later than I planned... I cleaned it up pretty well since I don't want DH to know and be all mad at him, so it's just gonna remain a secret between all of us, k? :)

6: GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did you like growing up with this number? How many siblings do you want your LO(s) to have
? I have one sister who is 15 months younger than me - she's the best and I love her like a best friend! We fought growing up at times like most siblings, but the closeness in age was/is a definite plus for us. My parents didn't plan to have us be so close in age lol they admitted it was a bit of an oops situation, but it's worked out amazingly well for us. My parents tried having more kids when we were in our early teens & they went through a few unsuccessful rounds of IVF - they realized too late unfortunately they wanted more than just two.  DH is set on 2, he wants one boy and one girl. I want 3 so I'm gonna be hoping our #2 is also a boy so I can try to convince him we need to have a 3rd haha (or hope for twins next time!) ....It's so weird that you mentioned what your grandmother said @rw3190 b/c I've used that as an argument already with DH for why we shouldn't stop at 2. Time will tell I guess, but God willing we're gonna try for at least 2!

  • Btw (just in case anyone else is experiencing this as well) I found this article on low blood pressure in pregnancy and exercising https://knocked-upfitness.com/exercise-during-pregnancy-with-low-blood-pressure/

going to give these tips a try

  • @triwellnessgirl SO glad you're feeling better about your scan now! What great news!  :)

@npaulie I've struggled with low BP issues all my life. Thanks for the article. I guess it's good that I've never had high BP- but low is another set of challenges. Even when I wasn't pregnant, if I got up quickly out of bed or after sitting for a while, I'd get dizzy. Now it's on another level. When I work out, I have to take some things REALLY slow, especially the cardio. When I run, I am running a full 2 minutes slower/mile than I was previously accustomed to, which shocked me. I knew I'd be slower, but not THAT slow. But if I push it too much, I get dizzy. So I stay in the safe zone, now that I've figured out what that feels like, though I have noticed the more and more I have been doing cardio regularly, I've been able to have a bit more endurance than I did when I first got back to it after taking some weeks of during the first tri. Hope it gets better for you!
Thanks!!
There is SO much to choose from it's overwhelming: It really depends on your level and preference.  You can just type in "advanced parental yoga" or whatever level you want and watch a few to find your preference of teacher, and the videos level of challenge. I've watched a dozen or two and it depends on the day, sometimes just stretching and strengthening is nice, sometimes it's annoying and I want to work harder and break a sweat.

One of the specifically "pre-natal" moderately challenging ones I did last week was "Tonic" she has a few different 30-50min videos I think are a good balance of challenge and relaxation.
  • @kjd291, thanks! I'll give it a try. :-)
  • I got a decent HIT workout in today... body rock bootcamp!  considering it wasn't too "high" in intensity with all my hip friendly modifications for the cardio portions, I still was breathing pretty heavy! I'm still finding I'm more annoyed at pre-natal workouts (except for prenatal yoga) and would rather just do a regular workout and modify if need be.

How are ya'll doing with your week?
  • Nice job @kjd291!  Glad to hear you can work around your hip issue. I agree, I have looked up some pregnancy workouts, and I'd rather just do my own thing with modifications.

Week is off to a good start for me..Monday and Tuesday Crossfit workouts done! Yesterday I was starving and really really REALLY wanted to eat a grilled cheese from this super fancy grilled cheese place up the street from work... but I resisted and got a healthy kale salad. Trying to be really good during the week. I made a zuchinni bread this weekend though, and have been having small slices of that when I need a little something. It's not super sweet since the recipe is pretty healthy, but it does the trick. I also made some healthy "energy bites" that I can have for a snack, and those are also working since the dates in them make them a little sweet.

I was staying the same weight for a few weeks, but recently started gaining again. I know this is normal, but I've officially gained 10lbs.  :|
  • @jenny0228 nice work on the workouts and super healthy snacks choices!! Energy bites sound yummmm. I've been baking breads, muffins and cookies now that it's gotten cold up here in new New England! I substitute coconut oil for butter and half the sugar or use honey and add flax and or nuts - so it totally counts as a healthy snack, right? Currently eating healthy oatmeal raisin cookies with my coffee for breakfast... basically like oatmeal, right? ; ). Haha.
And 10lbs is perfect for how far along you are! Don't let yourself think otherwise! Keep up the good work mama :*

I feel like I have no energy this morning but I'm still gonna do a Barre3 workout & hopefully feel  more energized after that. However I did have a dream last night that I did a full workout session - shouldn't that count as my workout for today? ;) j/k I'll still get my tired self up & moving. This week is super busy for me but I really want to stay on track & get all my workout sessions in.
I also prefer the regular workouts to the prenatal ones @kjd291 - I've started modifying some of the parts that have me on my back or belly but other than that I try to keep up with all the regular stuff. Don't wanna feel like I'm cheating too much haha the prenatal cardio sessions I've tried so far are way too watered down for me, maybe when I'm in the 7-9 month range they'll be more appealing but for now I just do regular ones.
@jenny0228 great job!! I'm impressed with your will power on the healthy eating, that's something I seem to be lacking anymore haha. I do want to do better though, as of this week I've gained 17 lb. (edited b/c I can't count)

  • @serenity13 dream workouts should TOTALLY count! Haha   Hope you have a great workout!

Agreed. IMO: Most of the prenatal stuff seems very watered down and geared towards women who dont usually workout:  but maybe we will adore them when we hit month 8-9. Guess we'll see soon enough!  Last time around I was still doing my usual workout videos up to 37weeks when I had DD, but because she was induced early I never really got to that super huge and uncomfortable stage of pregnancy so many mamas talk about. im sure when week 40hits I'll be loving me some watered down prenatal stretching
  • Checking in a little late this week!

1.How far along are you: 18 weeks!

    2. What are your goals for the week ahead? I wanted to go to CrossFit 3 times this week. However I may skip out today since it will be 75 degrees and the changing leaves are beautiful! May go for a bike ride instead.

    3. How was last week? Pretty good! Made it to CF three times and also a 30 minute walk. Went to a hockey game on Saturday and pretty much consider that a workout as well with all the walking from the trolley to the arena and to my seat.

    4. How are you or have you treated yourself? Indulge a little or celebrate your body and its accomplishments? Yesterday I took an Epsom salt bath. I think I need to do this once a week. I feel so much better afterwards.

    5. Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? My feet are starting to swell a bit. I found a box to prop them up during the day at work but they still became swollen by the end of the day. I thought it was kind of early for this but I read that week 18 usually has that symptom.

    6. GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did you like growing up with this number? How many siblings do you want your LO(s) to have? I'm an only child! I really don't feel like I've missed out on much during my childhood although sometimes I wish my parents had someone else to watch because I couldn't get away with anything! Originally I wanted 2 or 3 kids but after two losses and being high risk, I've changed that number to 1 or 2 children. If LO ends up being an only child I'm not going to stress over it because I am one and don't feel like my life experiences are any less because of it.

  • @sarahbobby late is better than never! : ) nice job on the CF!! Bike ride sounds nice for a beautiful fall day.  I've also been doing the Epsom salt baths! My midwife said it is a way to fight pre-E / high blood pressure. It also is said to aid in swelling, digestion, and depression!  So can't go wrong!  Even if it doesn't do any of those things... it's still a nice way to relax ;)
  • @jenny0228 I hear ya!! I've officially gained 10lbs as well :(

    Workouts are going ok!!
    Monday I did a Treadmill 5k and Shoulders/Chest
Tuesday I only had time for 45min of cardio
and this morning I did CrossFit plus 40min of Cardio
I'm getting my lashes done this morning in prep for my trip back East tomorrow, which means I can't sweat too much tomorrow morning. I'm only planning on doing a light uppper body workout, so at least it's something.

Also been good with my nutrition this week! Been tracking my calories, averaging about 1800-2000 calories per day. Not too bad!

Happy healthy hump day my Fit Momma Friends!!!!
  • Hello Fit Mamas! I have been dancing around wanting to commit to this thread but I think I'm finally ready to jump in!  I was in pretty good shape before finding out I was pregnant, I actually got my BFP the day after I ran a half marathon lol  However, I quickly developed some pretty debilitating SI Joint and neck problems so working out has taken a back seat for quite awhile now :'( I think my chiropractor has finally finished working his magic and I have the ok to jump back in!

1: How far along are you? 18 weeks

2: What are your goals for the week ahead
? I'd like to get sweaty at least 5 days this week!

3: How was last week? I took the dog hiking one day but that was it

4: How are you or have you treated your self? Indulge a little to celebrate your body and its accomplishments
? I've been stretching the definition of "a little" with our Halloween candy :D

5: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I went for a 2 mile run after yoga class on Sunday and holy smokes my poor body is out of shape!  It's been a really really long time since I have needed a walking break for that short of a distance!

6: GTKY: How many siblings do you have? Did you like growing up with this number? How many siblings do you want your LO(s) to have
? I have one younger brother and he is amazing but I was always jealous of my friends with bigger families!  We lived pretty far away from our extended family when we were growing up and it was a total bummer to not be around my cousins that were close to our age.  I always wanted to have a big family and live close by our extended family so we could all get together for holidays and such!  I would like to have 3 or 4 kids but DH wants 1 or 2....so we will probably "compromise" with 3!

  • @SienaC welcome!!  I also am currently recovering from an SI joint from running-pregnancy relaxin hormones do not help. I'm glad the chiropractor has helped you and you feel ready to hop back in :) glad to have you here!
  • @KJD291 that's great to hear about the Epsom salts! I did not know all those benefits. I usually soak my feet in them when I'm doing half/full marathon training.

@triwellnessgirl @jenny0028 I have you both beat with 15 pounds. But I'm trying not to stress over it. It's all boobs and belly right now and everyone keeps tell me how 'small' I look.. go figure!

  • @kjd291 thanks for the welcome! Sorry to hear your SI Joint is bothering you too! FWIW my chiropractor discovered that my problem was due to my left quad AND hamstring being strained, so they were pulling on my left side at their insertions and causing all my pain. The "massages" that he did to my muscles were extremely painful but they have helped me considerably. Good luck to you, I hope your recovery is quick!

  • @sarahbobby I've also gained 15 pounds and people keep saying how small I am. I'm pretty sure part of it me jumping from a small C to very full E cup. Haha

ive gotten 2 workouts in so far this week. Was supposed to start prenatal yoga tomorrow but just found out it's been postponed by a month because only 2 people signed up :( I'm SOO bummed. I'll still get my other work outs in but was just looking so forward to starting yoga.

  • @npaulie too funny! That is a bummer about your yoga class!

We went on our bike ride last night. Anything related to cardio feels like such a struggle right now! I seriously felt like I was biking in jello or something. My husband says, "we are going 6 miles per hour". I was like great... that's how fast I run normally! Nothing like getting passed by runners when  you are on a bike! I can't believe what a struggle it is.

  • Happy FRIDAY!

Just got my 3rd CrossFit workout in/ 4th workout of the week! On my way to my goal of 5 workouts this week, finally! yay! Now that I can feel baby moving, its' freaking me out a little. I mean, I know running is ok, but I just think about him bouncing around in there (even though I run slow) and during crossfit I take it REALLY easy but today while I was doing a very light lift, I did feel him wiggle slightly while I had the bar overhead. I know it's fine - but I'm just very conscious of it! I am lucky to feel him so early on, but at the same time now I'm over-thinking everything!
  • I feel the same way @jenny0228 ! When I was running the other night I had this weird picture in my head of baby just flopping around in there and it freaked me out!  I know that it isn't hurting baby but I couldn't get the image out of my head!

  • @jenny0228 @sienac I've been feeling the same way!! I've actually being doing a little less cardio and more weights because of it. And to be honest, maybe not pushing myself as hard as I could be. But it's just so weird when you feel something moving inside you!!

  • I'm the opposite!! Haha. I always think about how baby is sleeping extra well being bounced and rocked to sleep ;)
  • @kjd291 That's a great way of thinking! I'm going to try that tonight! Much better than the mental image I had

 good! hope it works ;)

I think I read somewhere last time around that when you workout they sleep because of the motion. Someone was writing about how you should never be concerned about not feeling baby during a workout--aka if you're pushing yourself and find yourself nervous about if it's too much for your body: don't ever look for movement to calm you and/or freak if you don't feel any for a while because they are sleeping right through it!  It's usually not till post workout and post workout snack that they wake up to say hi ;)
  • This makes me feel so much better!! Also glad to know I'm not the only one thinking this way. I'm going to use your thinking tomorrow as well, @kjd291
