Re: TW Tuesday 10-18

  • Not a big issue but I'm working from home today and we have a requirement to be on this chat program. Well, the chat program wont let me connect (since yesterday around lunch!). The requirement is to "make sure we are working and not doing laundry" because the thing tells on us if we are away from 5 minutes or more. So I just wonder if my boss thinks Im actually working or messing around. In reality, its a bit of both.

Another work related TW: 5am start times for telecons! Sometimes it sucks being on west coast time when most things happen on east coast time. But at least I got to call in from home...in my pajamas!

  • @brittnic86 - mine is still breech too.  They keep saying they're not worried until 36 weeks but I guess with 2 there's probably already not a lot of room to move.
  • @brittnic86 oh no! I'm sorry you have to join the c-section club, maybe they will magically turn by then! My kid flips everyday, but my uterus and stomach muscles have already been destroyed by DDs, so DS has lots of room.
On the upside, there are a lot of us RCS moms on here. Tip #1 for faster (and less painful) recovery: get up and walk around as soon as they will let you.
Still wishing for a magical way for babies to come out with less recovery pain...

  • @yellingbanana @penelope4612 I'm honestly not really upset. lol. When I found out there were two, I decided I didn't want to be upset or disappointed if things didn't go as "planned". So I honestly haven't had any plans or expectations this whole time.

  • @brittnic86 my peri told me today that Michael was still breech. He started to tell me to be mentally prepared for a c-section if he doesn't turn. I politely interrupted to inform him my OB had already scheduled a RCS.

I received an 'urgent' voicemail from the hospitals scheduling department today. Turns out it was no big deal, my midwife was missing a few measurements from my growth scan and forgot to mention this during my appointment yesterday. Scared the Dickens out of me!

Meant to post what I did in the Appointments thread. Oops... to many windows open on my work laptop!

TW today. Hmmm... all the people that speed in this city. Wow. Where are these cops at?!

A lame TW, but I just wanted to post something.

  • My TW is our bank, specifically our mortgage people. I knew not to expect an easy ride, especially since we're self-employed and they don't really like that. But the level of incompetence is getting pretty crazy and I'm having to spend so much time answering questions I've already answered, sending in documents I've already submitted, and waiting way too long for answers.

They required repairs to be done on the house we're buying. We had the repairs done, told them it was done, and said they could send the appraiser back out (which we have to pay for). I got an email today asking what had been done and saying the appraiser only noticed one repair. WTF, they were supposed to have a list of everything, most of it isn't obvious (leaky faucets, broken window panes). If they went without a list, then yeah, they're not going to find most of the fixes. So now you just have to take my word that the stuff was done, because I'm not paying for an appraisal again.

The wasted time is enough frustration (closing date has been pushed back so many times), but also the idea that they might still reject us for something as small as a broken window, and I'm already freaking out about getting in so close to December...I just want to slightly settle into a home before I have a baby. Blarg.
  • My TW is the animal that decided to burrow into our vents in the crawl space under our house... and then died. I started smelling something funky last week, then it turned to WTF is that terrible smell?  So now our vents are all closed and covered, and we haven't turned the heater on in 5 days. We finally found someone to come remove dead creature tomorrow, and are getting vents replaced with ones that can't be burrowed into by animals- on Monday. That's 6 more days without using the heater. Luckily it has been in the 50's and 40's! I've been baking things to help warm up the house, but sheesh! I can only bake so much!!!

  • @brittnic86 - If it makes you feel better, my mom, my cousin, and my MIL had c-sections for all their babies, and all three of them rave about it. They said you go in, don't feel a thing, and then 15 minutes later your baby is born. I know that recovery can suck for some women, but my family all said that they didn't have as much trouble as they thought they would. Not to down play the difficulty of having a c-section, especially with twins, but just trying to let you know that some women have a very positive experience with their c-sections. Also, to quote an older lady at my church, "Oh honey, don't you worry a bit if you have to go in for a c-section. I had a c-section 40 years ago, and when my baby came out, she was so beautiful, not squished or nothing."

@mysteryship - Mortgages are a nightmare! Our friends lived in a makeshift apartment on our property for two years, so when they bought a home this spring, we were one of their "landlord" references. That mortgage company called us ONCE A MONTH FOR SIX MONTHS. As it went on, they would ask more and more obscure questions about how long our friends lived on the property, what they did while on the property, what kind of toothpaste they used, etc. Happy ending though- our friends got the house, largely by doing what you're doing: refusing to be bullied and pushing back when the mortgage company wastes your time. I hope they get their act together soon so you can settle in before LO!

@yellingbanana - We had something crawl under our kitchen crawl space and die once. It was horrible, and there was no way we could get under there to remove it or block the smell. We just had to suffer for two weeks until the creature turned into dust or something.

I don't have a TW this week. I just related way too much to the posts in this thread!
  • @brittnic86 To add to Allycat, I had a great experience with my emergent CS. Less bleeding, up and about pretty early. Went back to work full time at 10pp.

  • @yellingbanana... it's not the notorious mouse, is it? I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It is so hard to get rid of that scent!

  • @ajstevenson these ones couldn't get into our house, they were just living in our air ducts in the crawl space. And we were breathing in their grossness. The vents are ripped out, it was so gross. DH was pissed that the vents were not to code.
I did finally catch the one in our house, and released it at the local park ;)

I wish I could just have an outdoor cat to catch all the mice.

  • @allicat89 That is so obnoxious - I need to find out if they're doing something similar to our friends who we used to rent from. Not that I take any joy in other people's pain, but it does help to know that it's always a struggle, it's not just us. They have a way of making you feel so inadequate - like why don't you have more money, more stability.
  • @mysteryship I've been meaning to ask... can you find out a VP level supervisory contact to see if they can help expedite the process? That customer "support" is horrible and they should really be ashamed of themselves. Sadly it is common in that industry (we have had similar probs with our home purchases).  If it's a smaller regional bank you may not have much luck but something like Bank of America might be able to work some magic for you. Or you could call the news and make a stink about it another way
