Re: WTO Tuesday 10/18

  • @BertieMeetsGertie we went in March to try to see the Northern Lights.  From what I understand, the best time to see them is September - April. Though it seems like a great place to visit year round!  Jealous that you live so close to Dulles -- we're in Maryland, so getting to any of the 3 airports is usually a nightmare.

  • @CrystalPDX  Have you read anything on Chennai, India? I'm a physical therapist and I am considering traveling there for a service trip in January.  I keep contemplating it. I love to travel, but its going to take 2 days to get there and another 2 back and the days I'll be there to run clinics for only 4 days.

  • @KhRun17 I totally understand how you're feeling! DH and I have been wavering on buying a house next year, but it is hard to commit when you don't know where you're going to be in the next few years. But we also hate throwing away money on rent...

@Dinosaur OMG what a view! I have actually always wanted to visit Australia (because kangaroos and koalas are awesome.) I'm so jealous!

@JuneRoseRuby Hopefully you can go sometime soon! I went a long time ago, but absolutely loved it. I'm a huge history nerd and loved getting to visit all the historical sites.
  • @JuneRoseRuby I haven't! It would be a lot of travel hours but sometimes the trip can be an experience in itself, you should go! Could you add personal travel time to it?
  • @CrystalPDX I probably won't add in personal time because I'll be traveling alone and I won't know any of the other surgeons or physical therapists once I get there! I bet I will have some cultural experiences while I'm there though just because the people I am traveling with are very knowledgeable about the area. They go every January. I got to travel to Morocco, Africa last year for a two week service trip. It was amazing. I keep trying to find more trips!

  • @purplg8r - Hugging a koala was literally the best day of my life, besides marring my H! They are so soft and sleepy. I did it at the Australian Zoo (Steve Irwin’s Zoo). You can take a photo with one for free or pay $40 to have a semi-private cuddle session (what I did). The money was sooo worth it! No lines. The zoo also lets you feed Kangaroos right out of the palm of your hand!

Saralee797  - It’s funny because I used to make fun of the people in California for getting excited/freaked out. Now that I live here I understand. It’s so rare/needed that it is exciting! I can’t even remember the last time it rained. Maybe like 6 months ago? And when it does rain it pisses rain for like 20 mins and then the sun comes back out!

darkrose88:) We did the flights there and back on airline points. So if you carefully collect and save your points, it's easy. I think in total for a two week trip and seeing four cities we only paid about $4,000. We save up points for about four years. The best deal is getting an airlines credit card (we used united) because they give you points for signing up. We also paid for large purchases on the United card (rent etc).

Brooklyngirl6 - I got to see the Harry Potter studio tour in London and Harry Potter World at Universal. They were both so cool!

kat0607 - I want to see the Northern Lights as well! Shortly after I moved away from Vancouver, they had a few nights where people we able to see them!

spk112 - I collect fridge magnets from all the places I have visited. It’s great because there are small/inexpensive. One day when I own a home I plan to paint a wall with magnetic paint to display them all.

    JuneRoseRuby  - Sorry about CD1

  • @kat0607

Thanks! I prefer the cup method but I am not sure how easily I could do that method at work.... we shall see
