Re: Monday B-Fest 10/17

  • Some days I truly cannot deal with people. This asshole just called into my job asking for a salesman. Well, he's not at his desk so I transferred him to his cell. Apparently it went straight to voicemail. The guy immediately hangs up and calls back yelling at me that I should be fired for sending him to voicemail, he's here to buy not look, he's too busy to be waiting around, he owns an oil business, and if we don't want to sell a trailer he'll go somewhere else. All the while, I'm trying to tell him that I'll send my branch manager out to him, but he won't let me speak. I finally told him if he'd let me speak, I'd send someone out to him and I hung up on him.

  • This is probably the pettiest bitch but I'm so tired of DD sharing a cubby at daycare. We've had multiple issues with losing things such as shoes off her feet (multiple times I pick her up barefoot, big no no to me) and now that we're sharing a cubby there is no room for any of DD's things!
I don't think that is petty at all! I would be furious if I picked up my child from daycare and they regularly came home without the things they were dropped off with! Especially clothing items, that stuff isn't cheap!

@burrberrymum I don't think that's petty at all! If your DD wasn't having her things taken home by her cubby-mate it might be. Are her things being brought back at least?
The shoes are usually found days later, but some things have vanished forever. Brand new pair of jeans one time, hats, mitts, extra shirts. I usually have to take it upon myself to search all over a massive daycare after hours for her stuff and usually can't find it. I check the lost and found, sleep rooms, dressers, shelves, random daycare bins etc.. sometimes I just assume it got sent home with another child and that parent didn't care enough to bring it back and mention that it is another childs. I've had to also do that a few times. One time I went to pick her up and she was wearing someone else's pyjamas and another little girl was wearing hers. Wth! I mean it happens, but her name is on her things! So now that she's actually sharing a cubby I see it as a headache waiting to happen.

Thanks ladies. I think I will go talk to HR. After typing that out I realized that it is pretty outrageous!! Thanks for listening!

    @mecoats - I'm sorry -that's just not OK!  :o
    Good! It's totally sexist.

  • @Burrberrymum  you arent being petty at all I would definitely be very upset if my kid had things missing or not have shoes on or wearing someone elses clothes. Which I think  the day care itself should not allow how is that sanitary who knows what other parents hygiene routine are. Sucks having to share cubbies each kid shoukd have their own and you work hard to clothe your child you shouldnt have stuff go missing. They daycare should be made accountable for missing stuff.

  • @jenny0228 As somebody who was in HR they definitely need to know about your boss! Sadly he may not even realize that what he's doing is NOT ok and they are trained to handle the problem as diplomatically as possible. They will also need a record of the issue in case it becomes a further problem. I hope they handle the ass hat!

  • @Burrberrymum every so often one or two things going missing is one thing, but all of that together is too much and some of it doesn't sound particularly hygienic either, especially if it's labeled clothing getting put on the wrong kiddo! Wow.

I've had this weird semi-antagonistic relationship with my boss lately. Nothing we can't work out, but he called me into a conference room to talk about it and I basically low-key cried the entire time. So unnecessary. Pregnancy hormones suck. Now I have to find a time to talk when I can actually keep it together.
This happened to me very early on in my pregnancy and I cried in front of boss. We are better now that I'm more in check. Good luck!

Not only would that piss me off but it could be potentially be a health problem!!! What if your child was allergic to the detergent that family uses? What if they owned pets and your child has an allergic reaction to the hair on the clothing?

  • Thanks for your honesty, @longliveregina! Unfortunately, it makes me most upset because their ped has told them that the child weighs too much for his age/frame. I'm not exaggerating with the cellulite comment. The fat is not smooth or plump; it's dimpled up all over his stomach and back. The ped put him on a diet and he does throw up the formula all the time. They blame it on the formula and said that he throws up the least with the brand they use now. The pediatrician told them to stop what they were doing. I know all of this because DH's best friend calls him after every appointment and tells my husband about it and expresses worry. My husband just tells him to listen to the doctor going forward. Why this has me super upset is because last weekend one of our friends (who has a 7 mo baby) made a comment about how much formula was in his bottle and the frequency that he was eating. Best friend's wife answered saying that she didn't carefully measure, but he was supposed to have 4 oz. Then she checked the bottle and there were 5.5 oz in it. She fed him all of it. It doesn't seem like she's taking the ped too seriously.

I don't plan on saying anything to her, but this still eats me alive inside because it comes across as though her baby's health is not important to her.

  • @chrlyr that sucks! I've totally been there with my boss, but neither of us are functional or responsible enough to acknowledge it formally. I HATE hormones though in that they have to make us feel weak in any business setting. So annoying.

but this happened today::: REALLLLLLLLLLY PISSSED ME OFFF ...

the disability insurance company made me cry today. my doc has been a little slow about getting my records to them and stuff. and then the guy on the phone called me and was like ... well ur letter didn't tell us why u are on bed rest.. so why? ... your job... all you do is sit all day right?!!... (he said it with an attitude like um?!! your just pregnant...) and i told him i don't know all the medical terms but basically my situation and the babies, and my swelling and i can't sit for long hours, and how my doc wants me to rest more so my babies can grow more even and not get a bigger date gap. he flat out said well when they get the records it is up to THEIR doctors whether or not ill be approved to be on bed rest (meaning that will qualify for disability). UM OK....and they need the official paperworks asap. I THOUGHT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO HANDLE GETTING IN TOUCH WITH MY DOC?!!! i even called last week to ask them if they needed me to call my doc.. they said no. i then called my doc office nurse several times w/out leaving a VM and finally getting a hold of her. i felt bad bc she was like. u shoulda left me a vm so i can get back to u in between patients, and i shouldn't have called another dept to ask to find her ... i told her about what happen.. she said yah those disability insurance ppl bullies you and don't let them get to me .. and then i felt even more super bad..... and the nurse said the company NEVER REACHED OUT TO THEM. and they usually do a fax (they handle a lot of bed rests bc they are one of the top high risk docs in town)

It sounds like your office will take care of you. I'm so sorry you are going through this! Now that you've put it in her hands try to rest and put it from your mind for a day or two!!

  • Maternity jeans. I had fun memories of loving these things, but now that I'm back in them it's not what I remember at all. Why are there no pockets? Do pregnant ladies have nothing to carry? But most of all, they won't stay up! I'm going to rip this panel pulling them up every 2 minutes!

One more. My friend made a cute big sister shirt that was a play on a show we both really like and I thought it was awesome. I posted it on FB last night and someone was a total buzz kill trying to read way too far into it thinking I was announcing the sex even though they know I don't know. It was insulting and rude.

  • @mrsyimster So sorry for all that drama! Hoping you and the twins can get some good rest! Maybe watch a fun tv show to distract your mind a little.  :)
  • Today I was scolded for drinking my coffee on a bench in the play area at Chick fil a. I was sitting there watching my 1 year old son. No food or drinks allowed... really? An adult can't sip coffee and supervise a child? No one else was even around. I really resent being treated like a child. The lady frequently comes in the play area to fuss at the children. This really irked me.  I just smiled at her and left. That's all. Boo to adults with authority complexes.
  • This is totally a First World Problem but one of the major internet providers has been down all over our town today and I'm super annoyed by it. I keep having patients call to make payments on their account and I have to tell them we can't take any card payments today because our system is internet based. As the billing manager I don't really like turning away money!!  :'( Also, 90% of the things I planned on doing today require the internet...so now I'm just burning up data on my phone and being a terrible employee.

I snickered at this because I always wonder what I'm supposed to do with my drink. Leave it unsupervised on a random table? I can't let my toddler play without me. So drink is coming in!

As a side note, do they tell at you if you dont take your shoes off? Lol I always follow my guy around completely showed. With a sweet tea. And my phone probably on the bump.
