No water for 48hrs

We received a notice from the city last week that they would be shutting off the water on our block for 24hrs on the 21st. Pretty bad timing since we have a sitter coming that evening and Damien and I fly out the following morning. Well today we received two new notices. One says the water will be shut off for 24hrs on the 18th (7am to 7am on the 19th) and the other says on the 19th (7am to 7am on the 20th). That's 48hrs of no water! We aren't allowed to flush, shower, wash dishes, etc. Of course I'm thinking about Damien and making his bottles and bathing him. Talk about crazy! I'm glad we will have it on the 21st but sheesh. My husband called the city and they said they can only shut it off for 24hrs. I spoke with the construction crew and they said it could be 48hrs of intermittent work so the water could be on and off at random times OR they may just shut it off for the entire duration. Ugh! Needless to say, I'm making a run to the store to stock up on water.

  • Ugh!  So sorry you have to deal with that!  We live in the country and are on a well system.  Our power went out a few weeks ago for an entire day so we couldn't flush, shower, or use the water. It was not fun! At least you have some notice to be able to get baby washed up the day before.  You could fill your tub up with water and use buckets to dump water into the toilet to flush it. Dry shampoo for you? Definitely feeling your pain.  Hang in there!

That's a good idea for flushing the toilet, hadn't thought of that! I'm doing laundry today and making sure all dishes are clean. That will help keep things from piling up. Damien is getting a bath tonight and I'm definitely getting a shower done. Luckily I have dry shampoo and can just do a baby wipe shower while the water is shut off. My husband is hoping to work from home since he is worried about not getting a proper shower. I think he will be fine but if he is more comfortable being home, then that's fine by me.

God that stinks!! What about premade formula in bottles? Expensive but may be worth your sanity for 2 days.
