  • @mrsyimster I find for binge watching shows with many seasons are the best, lol. N Amazon I love Downton Abbey. I think Buffy the Vampire Slayer is always good for a binge watch: 7 seasons and so full of ridiculous dramz.  ;)

  • @mrsyimster that's a beaut!! I hope it serves you well :) Have you watched parenthood?  I really enjoyed binge watching that one. Especially good with pregnancy hormones. Currently watching through Grey's Anatomy... and my guilty pleasure show : old seasons of the bachelorette. Haha.

Down time suggestions::adult coloring books?  Sodoku, crosswords?  Do you keep a journal? That's one of my favorite things to do when I have time to sit and reflect and capture my thoughts to look back on. Could even start one to write some notes for your babies to give them when they're older.  Also-snail mail letters to family and friends. Christmas Cards soon! Schedule phone dates or skype dates with friends. And my personal count down obsessed self reccomends making yourself a countdown paper chain to hang up around the room and tear one off every day till C-section goal day. Hang or write special things on the days that have bigger meaning or milestones you and your babes reach!
  • @mrsyimster I must have missed an update! Why are you on bedrest?? Poor bub!

  • Two random things:

Today I cried at an ABCMouse commercial. Why do they have to make them so damn inspirational???!?!!? It was the one with the kids singing the abcs all around the world.

Anyone really tempted to turn their toddler's car seat around early? My son is only 20 months and 26ish pounds, but I am having SUCH a hard time lifting him into his seat. I end up hitting his head half the time on the car roof because I'm struggling. We have captains chairs  So it's not like he can climb on the seat to help me out. Im especially tempted because my mom thinks it's ridiculous and keeps reminding me that the old rule was 1 year and 20 pounds. Sigh.  The only thing keeping me strong is that I like how much he sleeps in his seat and I know turning him around and sitting him more upright this may end........

Oh, intellectually I'm right there with you. It's so much safer. But every time I lift his body up to that seat Im tempted, sorely tempted.

  • @longliveregina I'm personally happy DS is still rear facing (14 mo, 25 lbs) but I am also lifting him into an F250. I feel like you could probably get away with turning it around since some 2 year olds don't hit 26 lbs and it's more a size rule than anything. I get what you mean though about sleeping. FWIW I've seen toddlers sleep in what looks like incredibly uncomfortable positions sitting up in their seats so maybe he will still nap?

Lol, you're supposed to be encouraging me to keep him backwards, ha ha. Don't enable this!

I hope that didn't sound judgy. I mostly meant because I am clinging to her youth like a life raft lol

Not at all! I'm kind of trying to convince myself it's a bad idea. You make a great point--C isn't gonna be my little baby anymore for long. I would be sad to rush him into being a big kid, entirely apart from safety considerations!

  • I turned my daughter early because should scream bloody murder. I don't care what anyone size, unless you have a child who truly hates the carseat then you don't realize how unsafe it is to drive listening to the constant screaming. My son who is 19 months is still rear facing and loves it. If I had him first then I wouldn't have believed it was possible to have a kid that hates the carseat so much. I got a lot of judgement or I felt that way about turning her early, but we didn't know what else to do. My son will be turned at 2 years when this baby comes because it's the only way to fit 3 across in my car. It's getting really hard to lift my big guy up into his seat and there's no way for him to help me either.
  • @longliveregina It pops into my head often if I'll make it to a full 24mo... currently only 14mo. I don't think I have a single friend that waited all the way till 2years.  But I hear the science proves it's not really about weight, but that it's not till 2years that the spinal chord is developed/strong enough to be able to take the force of an accident. So the majority of large accidents with younger forward facing children result in spinal injuries instead of backwards facing minor leg injuries.

But: definitely judgment free if you do decide to swap him around.  I lucked out with a kid that is fine in the car and I have no real issues getting her in and out-(so far) If it was a huge battle having getting her in the car, I'd definitely be considering it-despite any side eyes I'd be getting.
  • @NurseMama I fully believe that you've gotta use your own instinct and common sense with these rules. One of my high school friends recently got a lot of flack on Facebook because she had posted a picture of her 18 month old front facing. Turns out her poor kid got carsick and puked all time when facing backwards :(

@mrsyimster Continuing to root for you and your little beans!! I'm glad you're resting up at home and doing what you can to stay healthy and mentally alert. :)

Having a car screamer is he'll on earth. Fist bump for not driving into a wall. That's all I wanted to do the first 13 months of Lu's life.

We turned our 2 yo around in my husband's car a couple weeks ago. He's 30 lbs. My husband has a Chevy Equinox and my little guy's car seat was positioned in the middle. My husband is 6'3" and has his seat all the way back. Our son was getting too long for the way his seat is positioned, so we were forced to turn him around. Extended rear facing just doesn't work for a long kid in that car. At least not when the seat is in the middle. He's still rear facing in my vehicle and hopefully he can do that until at least 3. He's tall though so I doubt it.
  • Lady at work keeps telling me I'm big every time she sees me. Today she asked me if I was due in November and that I'm going to have a big baby. Actually my babies are normally only 6lbs and I've only gained 6 lbs being 20 wks. She also touches my stomach every time. Sooooooo annoying!!!!!!!
  • Oh man @mrsyimster sorry about bed rest but hopefully your little beans catch up to each other! Has supernatural been suggested yet? I've been binge watching/putting it on for background noise when I'm home doing chores. It's great too because there are 11 seasons to go through!

my random: after a week+ of no movement, my sneak peek test FINALLY made it out of my local post office (should have left last Monday) and will be at the lab Friday. So FX we will find out Saturday and then our AS is in two weeks. Hopefully it all comes out correct!

  • FTM--I was scared of labor and lots of things that came with it... all the what ifs.

Now, flash forward: STM, the only thing I'm thinking about come labor time is having to be away from my 1yr old DD for a night for the first time and hoping she'll be okay with a random friend. I'm hoping I go into labor during the beginning of the day so that DH can come back home and be with her overnight. Haha.
  • Dude I got a letter to be summoned for jury duty the day of my next appointment and AS!! I won't even know if I actually have to go in until the day before. I have to call tomorrow morning to see if I can reschedule my appointment. But does anyone know if doctors appointments will qualify as an excuse to get out of jury duty? I'm guessing not but just wondering. I honestly wouldn't mind doing it if it was any other day!!

@pandalily that is the worst news! What bad timing and such a bummer!!! I really hope you can get out of it! I know nothing about what qualifies to get you out of it, you'll have to let us know!

Ughhh!! That is such a bummer! I'm so sorry. It's always worth checking--but I would guess you still have to show.
  • @pandalily I also recently received a summons for jury duty- something I actually always wanted to get! 12+ years of being eligible & never once got one until now & the date of mine is the first day my boss comes back from her maternity leave... go figure the day I'm supposed to be meeting with her to review everything from the last few months while I've been/am running the place on my own... Oh well, hopefully neither you nor I will get picked!!!
On the questionnaire they sent I was honest & checked the boxes that I do have family members in both law enforcement & in jail, so I'm hoping those "conflicts of interest" for serving on a jury might get me out of it. We'll see haha... good luck to you!!

  • I am vegging out this weekend with a HP marathon and football but I want the weekend to fly by, my big gender ultrasound is Monday!!! My daughter was out of school all week for fall break and she never even left the house, mom fail.
I've finally gotten some more energy but now the tossing and turning all night is ridiculous. DH thinks I don't NEED a pregnancy pillow... that a plain cheap body pillow will work.Ugh!
