Question about daily/weekly threads

Can we ditch the Pregnancy/Synptoms check in. I mean we're all here because we're pregnant and want to talk about it, that's the point of the group haha! So can't we just post and talk about it? Rather than all the thoughts and feelings getting shoved in one post? Just a thought.

Re: Question about daily/weekly threads

  • That particular thread seem to be pretty active every week so because of that I would just let it continue. Its a nice spot to complain just about symptoms or lack of and to see that we're not alone.

  • I like the threads because a lot of the times people just want to vent or complain and it doesn't need a discussion or they don't even have a question. Those threads are perfect places for them.

  • The problem with the symptoms thread is very few people are going to scroll through and read 4 pages and over 100 comments to see what is going on.  Not everyone checks it everyday and if you are looking for someone who is posting about a specific issue you can relate to you might miss it.  However, if they create a new thread you will know, based on the title, what the issue is.  I understand the desire for organization but it seems a little overboard.  Maybe there could be a Daily (or every other day) Symptoms instead of just weekly.

  • I am also for less organization but I don't want to see 100 new threads a week of people complaining about symptoms. I actually think the symptoms/pregnancy discussion thread is one of the better ones because there's actual discussion on them. Plus honestly if someone doesn't have the time to read through, they don't have to, they can just post their vent or question and move on but starting their own thread just seems really AWish.

If people aren't willing to read through 3-4 pages of comments, they certainly aren't willing to read through 3-4 pages of individualized discussion posts either; which is what it would ultimately turn into.

as @vrj0522 said, if it's too long, don't read them. Just skip to the end. On other boards that are much more active, the threads get long real fast and if o miss a few days, I just skip to the end.

Lets be honest though, this is already one of the most fluid boards I've seen on the bump. Individualized threads already recieve almost zero snark if they do at all compared to other boards. This board is hardly organized or overly-organized by bump standards.

  • I personally think right now its the perfect balance.
  • Agreed with posters in support of keeping the weekly thread...I think if everyone was posting independent threads about various symptoms, it would turn into a board with a mass amount of one-off posts. And, selfishly, sometimes I just want to complain about this never-ending exhaustion and mild nausea, which certainly doesn't warrant it's very own post. :-)

I think what Jonesbaby was saying is that you can read a title of a symptom when it's individual and then comment if it pertains to you. Reading through six pages of nausea posts when I want to discuss my horrific gas isn't as helpful. Like I said, just my opinion and I don't expect things to change just because of me haha but I figured I'd bring it up in case anyone else was feeling the same.

  • Yes the only one I'm referring to is the pregnancy one. I think the ticker changes and other weekly ones definitely have their place, I just don't understand the need for a weekly pregnancy thread when this whole page is for random pregnancy chatter haha
