  • @Gretchypoo - yuck to 12 hours...that doesn't sound fun

  • and just to add a bit more to my complaint....I would be working Christmas Sunday for NO extra pay, no time and a half, nothing. Typically we get double time for holidays, but they have to fall on a week day which Christmas does not this year. How considerate :(
  • In the first 20 minutes I already got chewed out by a patient and another office for things that are out of my control. I would really like to just go back to bed and start over.
  • So in the sex announcement thread I had a picture of the Jersey we'd ordered for our baby and turns out the website was wrong there weren't any left so they refunded me. It stinks because it was so perfect.

  • @BlondePeanut What?! That sucks. A holiday is a holiday regardless of what day it falls on.

Aww that sucks! I got so excited about that post that I almost broke thread protocol and commented.
  • @Gretchypoo - my thought exactly! They figure since 75% of the company has all weekends off....they don't need to pay holiday pay on a weekend day, not considering the fact that there are still 25% off us that work in a 24/7 dept to keep the place running.

  • Today in Everyone Is An Idiot, I took the morning off because I was feeling really shitty. I sent in a good sub plan and went back to sleep. Woke up to find out that our school secretary had not bothered anyone to cover my classes, and the kids were bouncing off the walls. I don't even want to get into the other shit that went wrong because I wasn't there, but basically, my whole department fell apart. I have had it up to here with this new secretary. She doesn't do ANYTHING right. Class coverage has been a disaster already. What the hell is going to happen when I go out on maternity leave?

I don't have too much to bitch about, but DH woke up around 3AM with a fever, so I have man sickness in my house. He's at the walk in clinic right now being checked for flu or strep  :s I hate man sickness!
  • Oh, and apparently my OB declined my zofran and diclegis refills, so I have to call them today and find out what the heck is up with that.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • Awww @WinchesterGirl.  When is your power expected to come back on?

@tishb I hope your husband gets well very quickly!

@Gretchypoo how the heck do you sit in the car for that long?! Just even one hour for me is horrible. My back gets so sore AND I have to pee.

  • My dog just peed on my bed. He's old so I forgive him but he didn't even give me a chance to get him before he let loose.  :'(
  • @WinchesterGirl

Dear Doctor, NOT refilling Diclegis is NOT an option!! I hope you get it resolved, lady! :-(

  • To add to the commenting on our pregnant bodies.....a much much older coworker (she is in her 70's) said "wow....are you sure that's only one baby?" but her tone was insulting and she made a face like she was disgusted! I tried not to take it offensively.....firstly, my Dr isn't concerned with my size/health at this point, and secondly, I am VERY proud of my bump. I figure since I am so short it must look even bigger (unlike what my DL says..I am only 4'10'' not 5' lol b/c I fibbed a bit to give myself some extra height).
  • Yeah, I went to my Mammaw's the other day and she asked me if my doctor has said anything about my weight....I have no idea why she would ask that, but it made me feel like she thought I was gaining too much. Which pissed me off, because I'm not. Doc said :)

  • @homemake I tell you this not to minimize the fact the he pee'd in your bed. Because that really sucks. I tell you this in an effort to make you feel better...at least he didn't pee on your head! My dog did that once, she jumped on the back of the couch and peed right on my head.

Sorry your dog messed on the bed, did it soak through to the mattress? Or were you able to rip off the bedding in time?

Unfortunately it soaked through. This is the third or fourth time in a few months because he just doesn't give a sh!! anymore so I have the cleanup routine down pretty good. I can tell you we are going to be investing in a mattress protector starting today.  :p
  • My boss sent an email to all the higher ups in our company and accidentally CC'd me on it.  I was one of the people discussed in the email.  Among other things my boss is giving credit to work I've done to someone else and saying I am refusing to train my maternity leave replacement (I have not refused, we've just had a staff shortage so time hasn't permitted me to train her).

She also said she's not sure if I'm coming back after my maternity leave.  Our staff is under 50 people so they're not required to hold my job when I leave.  My blood pressure went so high when I got the email.

  • @MrsDramaK ugh I would be so livid. Maybe have a candid conversation with your boss saying if she has concerns regarding your performance, she should talk to you about it first? That has to suck so much, I'm sorry you're in that situation.
  • @MrsDramaK that sounds very upsetting. I bet your boss will be terribly embarrassed when they realize you also received the email. Do you think it would do you any good to say something? I'm not sure what the environment is like where you work, but my husband has gone over his bosses head a few times when things weren't getting done. It's a tricky spot to be in, but so far it's turned out in our favor. I hope they realize their mistakes and make it up to you.

  • Sorry @MrsDramaK that's got to be an awful feeling.  :(
  • That is awful @MrsDramaK! Can you maybe call a meeting with the higher ups and your boss and set the record straight. My blood would be boiling if I got an email like that. I feel like they kind of owe you that considering you were on the e-mail and your boss hadn't actually talked to you first.

  • @MrsDramaK that is awful!! I'm pissed for you!

  • I was at the grocery yesterday and an older lady asked when I was due, was it my first, etc. Then goes, "How much weight have you gained?" I don't think she meant it as a mean comment, but who asks a stranger that?!? I told her I didn't know and wheeled myself away.

Btw, for anyone who read Girl on the Train, highly recommend the movie! They did a good job. Even for people who didn't read it, it was great. Emily Blunt plays an excellent drunk!

Wow @MrsDramaK I would be livid! I would definitely set up a meeting with your boss to discuss it with her, if that is something you feel
    comfortable doing.

This. I'm so sorry that happened to you. In a sick way it's almost kind of good though because now you REALLY know what's up.

@MrsDramaK This almost exact situation happened to a friend of mine last year. She sent the email to her boss's boss and they had a meeting. Not sure if that's something you could do, or would want to, but it ended up being a good thing for my friend.

I'm sorry that happened to you, though. What an asshat
  • @mrsdramaK so sorry this happened! I would be so pissed.
Honestly, if it were me, I wouldn't tell them that I know. Then I would hang onto the email and if they fired me while I was on maternity leave, I would at least have proof of possible wrongful termination. Because just because they aren't required to hold your job, they still aren't allowed to discriminate against you for being pregnant.
Whatever you decide to do (like if you do have a meeting with them), I suggest taking HR with you. I hope this all works out okay for you!

I am so angry for you @MrsDramaK!! I like this advice from @srscott3. Although I did agree with a PP in that maybe confronting your boss that if she has concerns with your performance to approach you directly. But I'd definitely print out that email just in case for sure.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this, what an awful email.
  • Thanks for the tip @leslie1331 I've been thinking I would want to see that movie. Generally movies don't compare to the books, but I enjoy Emily Blunts acting, she's currently my favorite actress.

@MrsDramaK I cannot believe they did that... is there still an HR department of some sort, or is the company too small? Because that would be the sort of thing I would take straight to HR, and I've put up with a lot of crap over the years and never once reported someone.

If they do have HR, I would definitely talk to them first, and tell them upfront you are concerned that you will get terminated from your job due to pregnancy. That's practically one of the 7 deadly HR sins, and will get their attention.

@PerraSucia I'm sorry your little dude is sick! :frowning:

  • @MrsDramaK That is horrible. I'd be pissed too, I can't believe they did that. I like what @marriedhamstermom suggested, maybe try to set the record straight with the higher ups.

  • @MrsDramaK this exact thing happened to me, too. Except for me, it was about my salary.  At that time, I didn't say anything.  I wish I did, though, because later on that boss ended up screwing me over! I totally get how you feel.  I was so livid for like 2 whole weeks and I couldn't figure out what to do, so I ended up not doing anything about it.
I certainly agree with PP that you need to keep it as evidence.
