UGh @dmontgo that's NO fun. if the bright side is too hard to find right now dealing with all this crap, maybe try for the, this is so ridiculous all I can do is laugh side? You'll be on the other side of this soon. Like @sourlemon said - so glad it's a rental!!!!
We survived the night and now it's a beautiful day. I didn't get hardly any sleep last night, but I'm feeling more optimistic than I did yesterday. I'm getting dressed and then I'll take some pics of the damage. We've been great tenants, so I have good reason to believe we will be taken care of. At this point, yes, @slartybartfast all I can do is laugh because this is truly a unique brand of luck that I possess haha.
A few pictures of the damage, not including the inside. After seeing it in the light, we are going to move--landlord will give us a week and a half to leave since the house is considered uninhabitable. Fingers crossed we can find a nice place in a short period with decent rent--many people have been displaced from their homes due to flooding. My area got 14 inches. Since we will be moving out West in a year and half, we decided to downsize to save up more money, so silver linings. Our car got some damage, but just cosmetic. Many of our friends have no water or power. I hope everyone is safe.
@dmontgo omg wow. i forgot where you said you lived but so glad that everyone is okay. trees are no joke. i remember when Charlie came through and my entire apartment complex was just a collection of uprooted trees and damage, we couldn't even drive around there was so many trees blocking the roads. i hope you find a new place soon so you can relax and keep that BP steady!
@zubenescamali I'm in NC. I am still blown away at how bad things got here--I was honestly just expecting some rain...nothing like this. But we are already taking steps to tour a new apartment tomorrow in a complex where our friends live that has great amenities, including a park and library within walking distance. It's also near DH's college and new developments.
The timing is so incredibly shitty, but I am excited at the opportunity to get rid of a bunch of crap and downsize so we can save money. I need to be mindful of my BP, but people are pooling together to help us move and alleviate the brunt of the stress for me which I am so, so grateful for. We are safe and that's all I can ask for right now...although I would also like to ask that Ashton stays in for at least another month lol. Preesh. Haha. I'm crazed.
@dmontgo I'm glad you're getting out. It was much worse than I expected it to be and we didn't get hit as hard as you. People in my area are still getting rescued by boat and fire truck ladders due to severe flooding. We have no water for 48+ hours but power is back on. Good luck finding a new place - downsizing is a good idea! Keep us posted on how you're feeling. Things like this get the BP up naturally (and understandably).
So we just decided to head out to one of our local pumpkin patches. I'm so excited! Just a heads up though that I may spam this thread or the random thread with a few pictures afterwards.
Friday - went for supper with DH's parents, grandparents, my SIL, her hubby and 3 of our nephews. Afterwards, we went back to SIL's to make a sign for a walk we were doing Saturday morning.
Saturday - That morning, we had the Gigi's Playhouse Fest and Walk in honor of our oldest nephew, who has Down Syndrome. Then went for lunch for my MIL's birthday. After that, went back to SIL's house and watched our college alum away football game that was on TV. Around 6:30, we headed to m parent's for supper, since my sister and her fiance were in town. Then, went to a hotel to visit a friend that was in town until about 10:30ish.
Sunday - Went to lunch wit my parents, sis and her fiance. Then I had my first baby shower, which was thrown by a couple of my friends. It was a great time... played a few games, chatted, had some food, etc. My sister and friend from out of town were in town for it. It was in a woodland theme, like what we plan to do with the babies room... even with a cupcake cake of an owl. So much fun!

December'16 December Siggy Challenge: Elf on the Shelf Fails **winner**
It's been super busy this past week so I haven't been on much except to give love tits. 21st birthday was Wednesday, so FI and I made the 5 hour drive to Memphis on Friday. On Saturday we helped out at my mom's yard sale, went to a local festival, and that night my parents took us to the casino which was the first time I'd ever gone.
We went there to eat for the most part but I won $15 off a slot machine. I wasn't going to play one of the games but my parents just really wanted to use it as a teaching moment so I let them, lol. I don't have a problem with gambling in general but I don't like smoke and it was very loud, so not an atmosphere I like to be in. The food was good though, they had crab legs on the buffet. They also let me go wild in JC Penny's picking out baby clothes, so that was fun.
We left Sunday early to go to a baby shower. It was fine as showers go but I was tired from the long drive and just ready to go home.
@dmontgo- I am so sorry that all this stress has gotten heaped on you! Glad you and your family are safe even if the house isn't. I hope you find a new and better place soon!
Re: Weekend plans?? 10.7.16
Seriously though. Hate that this adds another stressor to your life. Hang in there!
