Consisten Braxton Hicks

ANyone else?  Starting with my 1st 27 weeks, my second 26 weeks and with this one 22 weeks.  My dr has me limited bc of the frequency. Today 8 in about 1.5-2 hours.  With previous pregnancies they put me in the hospital and gave me shots to stop them.  They don't seem to progress towards labor but it's just so frustrating.

Re: Consisten Braxton Hicks

  • Yep, been having tons. Started somewhat regularly at 26 weeks, a lot this past week. OB told me to drink lots of water and stay off my feet til my appointment Tuesday.

  • I THINK I am getting them consistently. Like bad cramping in my very lower abdominal area and it gets really hard. But it's usually after a lot of movement/walking. I'm going to ask my midwife about it next week at my appointment.

I'm sorry you have to go through all the frustration. ): Are the contractions having any physical impact on your cervix at all?

  • 3 weeks ago, I was having Braxton hicks contractions every 3-5 minutes for 2 hours. I called the emergency line. You need to go in if they don't stop. I'm not saying this to freak you out.

My midwife urged me to lay on my side and see if they stopped. I'm lucky they did. I was able to wait to go see them until the next day where they checked my cervix, swabbed me for signs of early labor, and checked the heart beat.
  • ^ I second this, better to be safe and call your doctor/nurse advice line.

My doctor's guidelines are pretty much what @ThePax89 said, too: call labor & delivery if you have more than 4 contractions in an hour.
a few days ago I had about 7 over 2 hours. I called L&D and they told me to go home (I was at work at the time) and lay down. That made them stop, but if they hadn't I was supposed to go to the hospital to get checked out.
  • Every day I have a bout of BH about 2-3 minutes apart for a few hours. This is apparently my "baseline" and doctor isn't concerned unless the feeling changes or my cervix changes (checked at least every 2 weeks) I have to go in if there's any pain, excessive discharge, or the oh so vague "any major changes"....
  • Glad to know I'm not the only one.  I too it easy the remainder of yesterday and today.  When I lay down it's ok, but every time I get up they have seemed to start for the last few days.  I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can come in.  My next appnt isn't until the following Wednesday.  In the past there has been no  change in my cervix. I've had all c sections so I've never gone into labor or dilated more than 1 cm.  But I'd feel better if he checked.  It's just so annoying.  I have a 2 and 3 year old.  My husband works off hours and I don;t have much help right now.  I'm just praying for no bed rest.  Thanks for the support ladies!

  • With my 1st they started when I was 27-30 weeks. My last pregnancy they stared already around 12 weeks and lasted until the end. I would get them every time I would move basically. It was annoying. But my OB wasn't concerned as long as i didn't have any bleeding. Went into spontaneous labor at 39w4d. This time I get them now and then but not enough to bother me.
  • Thanks ladies!!!!  I went to the dr first thing yesterday morning.  I'm not dialted and they did the swab for pre term labor.  They get concerned and always send me to the hospital whn this happens.  I'd like to avoid that if I can!!!!  They told me take it easy adn don't pick up the kids etc.  So hopefully this'll be as bad as it gets.  I doubt it tho.  GR!
