@mrsyimster So glad to hear that everyone's ok. T&Ps your way that everything keeps getting better.
Update: Saw the midwife today. First thing she did was listen to the heartbeat. It was really strong and right on par with what it has been. So big sigh of relief.
She did check my cervix and it looks like there's a small scrape on it, which is causing the blood. No idea how that happened (TMI: we haven't had sex for a while), but it's really the best possible outcome for the spotting since its clearly the cervix just being irritated. Still nice and closed, so everything is good.
She wants me to call back if it gets worse and scheduled me for an ultrasound next week so that "I don't have to wait all the way until my Anatomy Scan on Halloween to see the baby". So I'm supposed to take it easy until then and they'll check baby and look at my cervix to make sure it's not thinning or anything. But really, the scrape explains everything and the ultrasound is just being cautious.
So yay for a good update! I ugly cried with relief when I heard the heartbeat.
Nothing totally new symptom wise but I've been pretty crampy throughout the days this week, almost like mild period cramps. Also, Braxton Hicks seems to be starting this week too.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one dealing with food aversions/lack of appetite. It's especially frustrating and worrisome for me because I have struggled with anorexia in adulthood and so I get paranoid that maybe somehow it's related to that? But I am usually much more self-aware than that. I rack my brain all day every day, trying to think of ANYTHING that I can eat that doesn't make me want to puke. With my last pregnancy, I LOVED food. This is just strange to me!
I'll be 19 weeks this Friday, and also still seriously struggling with the energy. Probably because I'm having so much trouble eating enough! I cannot function without a nap during the day, which can be a problem because I work full time and have a toddler. My productivity at work has been suffering, as a result.
The good news news is I've been feeling baby moving a whole bunch! It's the only part of pregnancy I actually enjoys!
@mrsyimster I'm so glad to hear everything checked out ok at the ER! When I was reading your posts, my thought was actually pre-eclampsia. So glad it's just a freak thing and not anything serious!
@mrsyimster so glad all blood flow looks good. As someone in the medical imaging industry, it is standard procedure for the radiologist to read every scan/US and dictate a report. So unless the tech went to talk to the radiologist to ask him a question and he came in to talk to you I would assume it was just the normal procedure
@RunBooRun I am glad to hear it! My bleed was a tear in tissue too and they put me on progesterone for a couple weeks to help it. Mine sounds heavier than your spotting though so that's great if you don't need anything! And hooray for getting to see baby soon!
@jazzyma14 me too. Had a few spots right before my appt today. Dr. Didn't seem concerned and baby's HB is strong, but I'm still worried. I'll be near my home Doppler all weekend, I'm sure.
@minger86 glad your appointment went well! Kinda wishing I had a home Doppler now. I called my doctor and they were not concerned unless blood was red and/or clots. They said no sex or lifting till my appointment on Tuesday.
@jazzyma14 my doctor, and Dr. Google, said the same. Even Google (which normally terrifies me), offered reassurance. Apparently some minor brown spotting is not cause for major concern even in second tri. Best we can do is try to relax and take it easy!
Update: Baby is doing great. Good heartbeat and actually measuring ahead by a week. I am still in the hospital and still having some bleeding but it is mostly dark red and brown. Initial ultrasounds look like possible placenta previa, which explains the bleeding. They are doing more ultrasounds in the morning to confirm and see severity as the ER ultrasounds were not great. Note to self: try not to go to the hospital on the weekend. Most things have to wait till Monday. Silver lining....I got to see my beaultiful baby for the first time yesterday!
