  • I woke up with a backache that forced me to put on my pants sitting down (b/c I couldn't put my weight on the one leg).  Now, I can barely walk and I feel like it's giving me a headache somehow.  I want to leave work early but I'm not sure what I'd do once I got home anyway...  Tylenol?  Does that work on back pain?

  • @MLRocha Tylenol hardly touches back pain for me, but everyone's different. You might try some gentle stretches? If it's lower back, my Dr. gave me a thing to try that worked wonders. If you have to sit for a while, before you get up, put your hands on the outsides of your knees and try to spread your legs while your hands put pressure to keep them together. Then do the opposite, try to close your legs against resistance from your hands. It apparently realigns a lot of the tendons or something, but it was like magic for me!
  • Ooh the hunger! I woke up on a mission for "real food". No snacky crap, only real food would do! I skipped breakfast foods and went straight for the mashed potatoes! Mashed potatoes and turkey was also my lunch! My belly is so happy right now!
  • Add me to the team of being slightly lactose intolerant but now can't get enough milk and seem to be cured! However we have skim milk, is that bad? It's what I always drank before I started having lactose issues and while I'm handling it great now I'm worried that 2% or whole will not go so well. I used to get only a little sick with skim milk but would be really bad off if I drank 2%.

  • @MrsLittleMac - Thank you, I'll have to give that stretch a try.  I ended up leaving work early because I was in pain sitting or standing.  I couldn't concentrate enough to get anything done.  Going to try tylenol, a hot shower and (hopefully) a nap.

  • For those of you who are unusually craving milk during pregnancy, it could be that is your body's way of telling you it's short on calcium.

@krob What is a black and white milkshake?

@MLRocha I'll say this again, Tylenol is a joke.

Nah, nonfat is definitely not bad. In fact, my MW said that any milk or yogurt is great. Her reason for suggesting higher-fat dairy, especially yogurt, is because it generally has less sugar than nonfat, and it's more filling.

I don't really care for anything above 1% milk (except for whole milk in coffee).

  • @krob What is a black and white milkshake?
Its made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. So good!

  • @MLRocha thermacare heat wraps are my saving grace!!! I have sciatic nerve pain and they are seriously a God-send! You have to just be careful that you don't feel yourself overheating (which is why they say no hot tubs or heating pads for a long period of time) but I think the Thermacare heat wraps honestly only really target the specific area of pain and don't really increase my overall body temp at all. Usually I don't actually even feel the heat until I take the wrap off, just that the area feels better! If you're placing it too close to your belly though, I'd alternate with it on and off or alternate with ice.

  • I crave OJ and cheese. ALL day EVERY day! I've drank 3 gallons of OJ in 2 weeks. Baby loves it. I also ate a block of cheese and half a box of saltine crackers in 3 days...oops.

  • @paigeed
YES on the cheese. I actually cried tears of joy over a particularly well-made grilled cheese last week
  • +1 for cheese. I fucking love cheese.

  • I've become such a cheese fanatic since being pregnant with my first DS. Things haven't changed this go around! Haha

As a result my DS adores cheese! He loves to snack on cheese and if we go out to eat Mexican food, he goes crazy for the queso & chips!
  • Now I want a grilled cheese real bad.

I need to stop reading this thread when I'm not in the position to make any food.

  • Grilled cheese has been my go to snack when I can't decide what I want to eat.  I love it! Can't get enough cheese.

  • For the past week, I can hear the blood whooshing through my right ear and it's driving me crazy! It's so loud!

  • When does this "you're pregnant so you're constantly hot" kick in? It's 40 here today and I am freaking freezing!! I was looking forward to a winter of feeling warm...

Waiting for this too!! Still using my space heater at work. I swear I'm colder than when I wasn't pregnant!
  • you guys my butt is so itchy.  like I thought I was getting a yeast infection but I think it's a hemorrhoid.
The hemmies are legit constant for me this time. I'm not even straining but every time I poop, my bum is wrecked for days.

Ps. @PerraSucia - how's the swelling? I had the pre-e at 30w last time and your post definitely had me nervous. I did my first 24hr urine at 11w this pregnancy and it was already 219. >300 protein + high bp was what forced my delivery at 34w last time. Talk about PTSD, I hear ya man.
  • I think I'm colder now too @leslie1331!
  • @ohstars oh it's there. I can't even wear my rings in the morning and can barely wear my shoes by after lunch. Hopefully the baby aspirin keeps my BP down :(
  • Yes @TeacherMom2517! It's my 3rd pregnancy, so I already feel so big and blah! Especially after I eat or walk long distances. My belly gets rock hard and it hurts!
  • @TeacherMom2517 this is also me. I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow and am thinking come christmas there will be some sort of machinary required to move me! Everything feels so squashed already i dont know where my organs can go as she gets bigger!
  • The hunger has hit me today. I've pretty much felt like I could continuously eat this entire day. I just ate a huge dinner, then ate a second biscuit and now I'm thinking about what I can snack on. All this milk talk is making me want cookies and milk but I'm too lazy to make cookies. Maybe cereal with some chocolate chips in it? Haha

On the milk topic I'm also lactose intolerant and have been doing almond milk. I was out a few weeks ago so I tried some of DH's 2% and it made my stomach upset so I'm sticking with the dairy free. Cheese doesn't bother me though and I'm loving cheese. I'm so sad I'm almost out of babybels

  • @TeacherMom2517 I totally feel you. I'm scared to see how big I am at Christmas, I already have to have Hubby put my shoes on for me cuz I can't reach my feet anymore lol. I am feeling very squished and my tummy skin feels soo tight.
