Hungry..All...The...Time!

Please tell me that someone else is experiencing the crazy hunger.  I don't have MS, but I am just always hungry.  I wake up in the middle of the night starving.  I literally ate a little debbie brownie at 12:30 last night because it was the easiest thing I could find.  The downside to all of this hunger..nothing taste good.  Nothing sounds good and when I do force myself to eat something, it just tastes terrible.  Everything just tastes like it has no flavor.  I'm hoping this passes soon because I'm ready to enjoy food again and to have an appetite.

  • This is me... I just can't stop and I typical just pick at good through the day. I may stop going to the grocery and make DH go because I want to eat everything in sight

  • Story of my life. I feel like I'm hungry constantly. And I do have MS, so food rarely sounds good to me and the hunger only makes it worse!  Is there anything at all that sounds even remotely appetizing to you? If so, embrace it and eat it. I've literally been living off of noodles and other simple carbs the last 5 days because those are the only things that sound the least bit good.
  • Yep, all the hunger. I wake up like clockwork at 6am, regardless of when I go to sleep, and have to pee. Then, I can never fall back asleep cause I'm too hungry. And even after I eat, my stomach is still rumbling. I've been snacking every 2 hours and feel like I can always eat. And if I don't eat (especially first thing in the am), I get nauseated.
  • Glad to know I'm not the only one who always feels like they need a snickers : )

  • All... the... time! Ughhh, it's driving me crazy because the only thing that quells my nausea is carbs and all I want is mac n cheese!!! I'm up 5lbs though and am only 7 weeks so obviously I am eating way too much. I'm going to have to watch myself for the next few days and try to bring it back down by at least 2 lbs.

  • I started off this pregnancy craving fruit and vegetables and eating so healthily and small portions that I lost 3-4 lbs! But I have gained it all back and then some now. Once ms kicked in I had to eat all of the time, and usually carbs, in order to fix it.

If nothing tastes good, I'd try to keep varying what you eat because there might be something that is really good. I surprise myself sometimes. I wish that my cravings told me in advance what to eat, but sometimes I find that a sweet (my usual favorite) tastes kind of "meh" or even gross, and then something random like lettuce or a piece of fruit tastes like heaven. But other times it is the other way around.

  • Yup! Wake up hungry. Two hours later hungry again. Had MS for the first time today and minutes after I was hungry again. It never ends.
  • @CamiSelene I am exactly the same way. My husband is sick of making mac and cheese for me!
  • @amprince22 I just bought 4 more boxes today. I refrained today though because I need to reign myself in a bit. Instead I had a big ol' bowl of corn and a pb+j sandwich (that way I still get some carbs from there. lol)

  • @kat81 I'm the same way with sweets! I have the worst sweet tooth but sweet foods and candy sound awful to me! Except fruit-flavored ice cream. Strawberry ice cream has been my jam.

Also so with everyone on the Mac n cheese and all the carbs! EasyMac and uncrustables have been my saviors. My child is going to be born addicted to preservatives.
  • Totally relate except all I want is chicken.   This morning, the secretary was giving me a hard time because I was eating a cold piece of chicken, for breakfast.  Luckily, she is a good friend so she already knows.

  • Yes! Constantly hungry and occasional nausea which goes away when I eat. I typically try to eat healthy in my normal life but pregnant me wants all the carbs! I'm obsessed with garlic bread lately. Literally ate half a loaf last night and told H to pick up more at the store today. Trying to balance it out by gym time and taking walks but I'm scared to step on the scale!!

  • I have a big meal and few hours later, I feel like I've been starving myself for days!  What is that!!
  • DH and I agree that I am like an angry pregnant bear about food. I get furious and emotional if I have to wait, or if nothing sounds good, or if someone wants to share. And have to eat constantly. It's ridiculous.
  • OMG...I had a breakthrough yesterday.  I finally figured out what actually sounds good and tastes good.  Milk.  Any kind of milk really, but chocolate milk preferred.  I got a yoohoo from the gas station and it was like heaven.  Now I'm eating lucky charms.  It's just the milk part I think, but it is so nice to have something that taste so good again.  However, DH only bought a half gallon at the store the other day and so we'll be out by tomorrow.  With the impending hurricane, there is a serious lack of milk at the stores right now.

  • This. Give me all the chocolate milk! It is so odd, because no other sweets sound good to me... but chocolate milk is totally on point right now!

That has been me exactly too. I have thrown away cake, and even a chocolate truffle because I took a bite and just didn't want it. I've had brownies for over two weeks now. I should probably get rid of them too. This is so not like me. I usually love desserts, especially chocolate. I did eat ice cream this weekend, and its okay, but I was still less interested than usual.

I've been wanting chocolate milk (or hot chocolate) since a week before I found out I was pregnant. I stopped drinking milk years ago, so that made me more surprised. Now I have a gallon of milk in my fridge. Haha
  • I've got an overwhelming craving for a grilled cheese with pickles, which I've never eaten in my entire life. Gimme all the food!!

  • Chocolate milk was my everything when I was pregnant with DD. This time around I am hungry all the time but I haven't found anything that sounds or tastes good aside from Lays plain chips - I don't think I can live off those for the rest of the pregnancy so I have been trying to force down what I can. No vomiting - but waves of nausea seem to constant.
  • Me too! I have never worried about gaining weight during pregnancy, but after getting way lower than my pre-pregnancy weight after #2...I am a little scared at how much this little one is ramping up my appetite. I try to eat my usual healthy food but succumb to eating every carb in sight. And since a) I'm pregnant and b)I haven't eaten like that in 2 yrs, it makes me feel SO SICK!!!!!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
  • With DS I had hunger pains for about two weeks in the 1st trimester and that was it. This time around I still have the hunger pains but food makes me gag. I'm starving but I can't eat! I'm just hoping it only lasts 2 weeks again.
  • I'm hungry or full all the time. I bought lots of healthy foods, and they all made me sick. I've been able to eat Taco Bell bean burritos, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and toast with almond butter and banana slices. I'm trying to be healthy with those options, even though pizza also hasn't made me sick.
  • @MollyandD I'm with you! I mostly haven't been able to eat hardly anything - I've lost 6-7lbs since I found out. I figure right now, some calories/nutrients are better than nothing and I'll get back on the healthy food train in 2nd tri!
