Re: October Plus-Size Mammas

  • I was just thinking about you ladies (but I swear not in a weird way). Haha. I've been thinking that I'm feeling baby but I'm really not sure. I start questioning whether it's baby or gas.

    Anyhoo, who is feeling movement?

  • @CurlyCupcake21 i was the same when i first started feeling my baby move but now i kind of know that if its gas its at the back but if its baby its at the front.
  • I'm still not feeling much movement, but they did just tell me I do have an anterior placenta so maybe that's why.
  • I have been feeling movement for a few weeks, but this is baby number four for me.  It is nothing like the kicking and stretching you will feel later on!   I do think it will be harder to feel from the outside until baby shifts farther up.   At least for me there is a thick layer of padding where the baby is.

  • I feel movement very rarely. Im looking forward to feeling more but also, glad to be able to sleep now :-)
  • I feel a few movements a day. My placenta is at the back though, and it's baby #2 for me.

  • I feel movement, but it feels a lot like gas since I have an anterior placenta. It's not super regular, but I feel it a few times a day. He was super chill over the weekend but kept squirming when I was eating IKEA Swedish meatballs on Friday. I'm looking forward to more predictable movement soon.
  • It's weird because I just can't tell what it is.  I'll be convinced it's movement and then it kind of feels like a gas gurgle.  I can't wait until I actually know it's baby!

  • I haven't felt anything at all :/ no gas bubbles, no flutters, nothing. I know I have a posterior placenta, so that's not an issue. Maybe it's just because of my weight and the fact that I'm a FTM
  • I have been feeling movement for a couple weeks. I am a second time mom (so I've heard you feel it earlier) and due mid-Feb.

  • in my experience being overweight doesn't usually effect how early YOU feel the baby but can effect how early others can feel the baby externally.

  • @cinderin that's interesting...I've always assumed it was both but since I'm a FTM I have no evidence to back that up.  Haha

  • Ditto @cinderin it might take others a while to feel but you'll feel from the inside around the same time as others.

I have a really gross PSA but it's saved my comfort in the past, soooo.... I've gotten yeast "infections"  like under my belly and it's super gross and uncomfortable. My MW rec'd athletes foot spray and it works like a charm. It is almost instant relief. Don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but there ya go.

  • My big belly pretty much hides that I'm pregnant. My DH and friends (all who have had kids) say they can tell I'm pregnant. I only see it when I lift my belly fat up. I wish I looked more pregnant (I'm 22.5 weeks) but thankful no one has touched my belly yet (well besides my DH and mom).
  • I have plenty of padding but I have been feeling the baby since 18 weeks exactly. and my husband felt it 18w5d. He feels it all the time now. Depending on the baby's position when it kicks you can also see my belly move if you look closely, which was super unexpected.

It definitely feels like gas when baby moves around. I have felt 2 rolls already which feel....indescribable. And the kicks feel like one of those twitches or tics you get, like on your eyelid.

The kid is extremely active, I feel it daily and often, and I actually googled if too much movement was a bad thing. I guess just takes after it's dad.
  • I was told I have an anterior placenta and I can't imagine how much more I would be feeling lol. Maybe it's because I am hyperattentive and my baby is hyperactive  ;) I just got bumped up to 3/2 EDD (but this is a February baby) and started feeling movements a couple of weeks ago. Now its becoming pretty regular especially around dusk -- but during today's ultrasound I felt movements too. LO probably like WTH is all this commotion in my bubble???

So a great article that list plus size maternity clothes!

    https://www.fatgirlflow.com/100-places-to-shop-for-plus-size-clothing-part-7/

I was on the hunt for a jacket that will work when I go up into the Colorado Mountains.

I think I will go with this:
    https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=924350070&MasterCategory_Id=MC8&siteId=qsfL1JANoVU-Z45JZzhcnxgzLPKChDrJyg

It is expensive but I will be up in the Ski Country a week during Thanksgiving, and two weeks during XMas and New years so I need a good jacket. I wish could find a good plus size, petite, maternity jacket. The arms on this jacket will be too long on me but it is what I need to fit over my butt.
If anyone else has found a good winter jacket let me know!

@skiingstark I hit 200 too.. took a bit of an emotional toll, so I get you :/

and no one really needs it to be mentioned again, and of course you already know this, but these babes will be so worth it :)
  • I hit 200 a long time ago pre baby. I remember the freak out. *deep breaths*
  • Whoops it cut me off, sorry. Was trying to finish by saying they told me I need to redo it between 24-28 weeks because of how close it was.
  • a GD DX is a bummer but not the end of the world. I'd just wait and see. no point to worrying.

  • I'm not worrying and I also know it's not the end of the world. I was just hoping to not have to retake the test again because I've already had to take it twice now, but I understand why they would want me to being only 2 points under. Oh well. Point of my post was more of a 'yay happy I don't have GD as of yet' than anything else.
  • always good not to have GD yet :-)

  • @Jab3 Im in the same boat, i had a 1 hr test and a 3hr test but i need to be tested again at 28 wks. yuck. but yay for no GD and hopefully healthy babies!
  • I passed my test by like 40 points and I still have to retake it so don't be too bummed out.

I go to the Dr tomorrow and I am sure I gained a TON in the last month. Up through month 4 I had only gained 2 lbs. I am terrified to see what I am now.  I can't even say "it's worth it for the baby" bc I don't think it's doing the baby any good! Nor do I think the baby caused it. I think I just started enjoying food more again after 1st trimester.
  • I have a confession...I had mentioned that my OB said she thought I should do the test early and do it when I came in for the autonomy scan.  Well I didn't do it.  I was supposed to have 3 appointments that day and there was an hour between the 2nd and 3rd so I was going to do it.  But the 3rd appointment got cancelled and I didn't really want to wait around to do the test.  Plus, she said I have to get it done at 28 weeks even if I pass so I don't really see the point.  She said it would be good to then go to a nutritionist but I have an appointment with the nutritionist today anyway.  I feel like I'm going to get scolded next time I see the OB.

  • @CurlyCupcake21, I don't blame you for skipping it. And I know what you mean, my new OB seems like the scolding type about... everything. How did your appointment with the nutritionist go today? Or is it not til later? I have to go see one next month.
  • I finally found a coat that will fit all winter !!!

XXL Old Navy Maternity coat on sale for $42

    Picture?

  • @Jab3 the appointment with the nutritionist actually went better than I expected. She wasn't judge at all (which I was worried about) and she was very understanding that I'm having a tough time not wanting to gain too much but also kind of having the mindset that I might as well eat something since I'm going to gain weight. She gave me a lot of good snack and food ideas that were really reasonable for me since it was about being more balanced rather than cutting out all carbs and sugar.

  • That sounds like an awesome appointment, I'm
glad it went so well for you. That's reassuring to hear how understanding and realistic she was about everything too. I feel like for something like that to be successful, you need to feel comfortable with the person.
  • Random plus size musings:

I view. The standard HDBD posts with a measure of awe lol not in a self-loathing way more like wow is that what my bump looks like beneath the extra padding? I'm 19 wks today and I see slender moms, even FTMs with these protruding bellies at even less weeks and I'm just like (insert gif of Whoopi Goldberg cupping her cheek in the color purple bc idk if I can insert gifs from the app) amazing...

I can feel my womb expanding inside, and if I touch my lower roll, I can feel the firmness just behind my belly button. It's like I'm a magician hahaha but then aren't we all... Being pregnant is definitely the most magical yet mundane thing I've done thus far

  • Speaking of coats I am so happy to be pregnant in the winter. Normally I'm so cold all the time I can't stop trembling for 4 months. I have a feeling I will be able to cope better now.
I also am glad that I have something to look forward to between the holidays and Spring.

I am so excited to not freeze as well! Although, it is mid-70s this week and I'm still getting so hot!
  • Question for you all...anyone planning on baby wearing?  If so, what kind of device are you getting?  I'm really interested in getting a ring sling but my concern is that some of the ones mentioned here (like the Wild Bird ones which are super cute) might not be long enough.  Thoughts?
