I think Maisie is a sweet nickname for Margaret, but I don't love it as a stand-alone.
Same. If you're set on it though I would definitely go with the Maisie spelling over Mazie. What about Macy/Macie? (Not sure which spelling is the "correct" one) It's similar but not quite so juvenile-sounding.
Maisie is juvenile to me...I just can't imagine a 35 year old business woman names Maisie. But going with a formal name like Margaret, and then calling her Maisie as a NN would work...because then if she decides in college that she'd rather be Maggie, or Peggy, or Marge, or Margaret, she would have that option.
Right now, in my office, I have one of those dolls with really long legs that you put on the floor under a door to keep drafts out. My grandmother jokingly named her Maisie when she gave her to me back in the 80s, and the name stuck. The thing looks like a Maisie - it wears a granny bonnet and a gingham apron.
Thanks! Both my name and my daughters name have a Z in it so that is why I would choose this spelling. I do think maisy spelling is nice, but really prefer to use the Z.
Re: Mazie?
Its. . Fine. I find the long e ending juvenile personally.
