ginger tea

Has anyone found a ginger tea or a tea for helping with morning sickness? All the teas I have found with ginger have other ingredients in them and I am not sure if those herbs are safe during first trimester. If you have found one - please share the brand name! :)

Re: ginger tea

  • When I had nausea ginger hard candies worked best for me. I liked the Prince of Peace ones.
For plain ginger tea, I've used the Traditional Medicinals brand

  • You can also dissolve ginger candies (or candies ginger, etc) in hot water. That'll give you a fairly pure tea.
Seriously though, I tried everything for nausea last time and it all did POOP.

If you want ginger tea that's just ginger buy some fresh ginger and put it in hot water for about 3-5 minutes. A little goes a long way so you'd only need to dice/grate/whatever a little bit. One decent sized ginger root should last awhile.

ETA: My grocery store also carries a brand called "Price of Peace" that makes a tea mix where it's a pouch of ginger crystals. I think the only other ingredients are cane sugar and honey.

  • I actually took ginger capsules with #1 -- seemed to help a bit. I would just take them as soon as I woke up.

I get a weekly email update from another app and this was in it today. Take it with a grain of salt but another good piece of data to add.

"Also, take precautions with some herbal teas; certain ingredients may stimulate the uterus and induce miscarriage. Stick to teas made with ginger, lime blossom, peppermint, roasted barley, rose hips and thyme. Avoid teas made with goldenseal, black or blue cohosh, ephedra, dong quai, feverfew, juniper, pennyroyal, Saint-John's-wort, rosemary or thuja."
