You have no idea what my TTC journey involved. The point is, if a positive pregnancy test is offensive, I'd be avoiding pregnancy message boards altogether.
@kjd291 I definitely think you're right. We've lost foundational members along the way who eloquently informed posters about board organization. However, they were very tactful about it and that's why our board is the way it is. None of us were scared off from the start. So while they are very much missed to this day simply because they were awesome peeps, their absence is also noticed in a decrease of board management.
I don't think it's possible to make every single contributor happy with the way a board is run. I simply trust that most people follow Dwight Shrute's rule:
This applies to MUD, trolls, and jumping down people's throats for making honest mistakes.
Personally, I feel M'17 has shown me that a community can deter all these while still being kind and welcoming. If I see someone going, "Hey, can you post this somewhere else?" it's about the context. A terrified PgAL mom or someone going through something scary/high risk? No, just no. But someone going "My boobs hurt!!! Anyone else?" Yeah, the symptoms thread is just fine for that. No one here has ever been outright rude about redirecting. Again, one of the many reasons why this BMB is the right fit for me.
Whoa. I knew I was sharing an UO (hence the thread). I was in O16 before and I guess I'm just used to a different BMB culture is all. They were pretty regimented and I liked it (for the most part). I still lurk there often because they have threads that are well-organized and searchable for questions I may have. I'm not saying I want to change this board in any way. It's not a bad board. Maybe it's because I'm PGAL and I have a different slant on things, but some of the individual posts may rub me the wrong way, and also it seems that nobody encourages drive-bys to post in the regular threads to give/get support. But I recognize that that's a ME thing. Hence an unpopular opinion. This is the thread for that, right?
I was more upset about calling TTGP ladies bullies anyway. They are not. And struggling ladies should get courtesy. It's the decent thing to do.
When there is a core group of posters it really eliminates the "drive-by" posts for the most part. Sure, you have lurkers that post every so often, but as we get further in our pregnancies and have babies, it becomes less structured. That's just the way it works.
In a quick glance, there is one on the front page, and also one on the second page. But I'm really talking about this board in its entirety since its inception. I kind of don't want to beat a dead horse here. If people are happy here, great!
I agree! This board is so pleasant. I was part of September 2014, and that was a horror show. Some aren't as experienced as others at navigating the mommy chat rooms, but that shouldn't mean they should be made to feel unwelcome. I like a diverse array of opinions and inputs, and even some healthy dissent and I feel like our board has all that.

Edited for clarity

Does any of that make sense? Dear Lord I hope so.
