@AllyTheKid just saw the updates on Johnny. I'm praying and sending you postitive thoughts and vibes. You're doing a wonderful job staying strong for him. Keep up the excellent work.
This probably isnt the place for this BUT I've been thinking about it a lot...
This is probably a stupid question but if you're planning to exclusively breast feed should you still have formula on hand just in case? I know some people say it can take awhile for your milk to come in and I'm just worried the baby will be starving? haha . Or am I just being a paranoid FTM?

@kmolleltz I didn't have any in hand with my first since I planned to exclusively breastfeed. If you look up size of baby's tummy the first few weeks/month (I'd attach it but still figuring out mobile bump) you may feel more comfortable with even while you're waiting for your milk to come in you still have colostrum that is a more fatty and filling for baby. I had latch issues in the hospital and unfortunately they didn't have a LC working the weekends but they instead had we try nursing and when it wasn't as successful brought a hospital grade pump in and we syringe fed.
I'm also pretty sure they sent us home with a bag full of "free stuff" for baby and I believe a container of formula was in there, so I kept it unopened until we got breastfeeding down and then donated it to a mom who was using formula.
@kmolleltz the colostrum is all your baby needs until your milk comes in so don't stress about that! It's important to keep BFing to establish your supply based on baby's demand. Supplementing with formula will actually make BFing more difficult because the baby ends up overeating (due to needing more to get the same nutritional value that's in your colostrum/milk and also because the flow of the bottle is so much faster than the breast) so its tummy grows much faster than it would if only BFing. This can make it difficult for your milk supply to keep up to baby's demands and switch back to BFing only. I hope that makes sense? I know the BFing thread is super long at this point but we discussed this in there as well so it might be helpful to skim through!
@LGW2015 thanks. I thought I had read it there but I felt foggy and now that baby is so close to being here my type A personality wants everything "Ready" hahahaha.

Have formula on hand just in case. I'm a FTM and I'm so glad I did.
Our first night home my daughter was screaming and wouldn't stop. Nothing could console her. Something clicked in my head and I wondered if she was actually getting milk when I nursed. Long story short...she wasn't and she was essentially starving. I still cry about this incident because I felt I should have realized it sooner.
ETA: After my milk came in I was able to stop using the formula.

My poor labor buddy @anna.oskar is still in labor. She might not be checking TB right now but let's show her some love! She's been at this since Wednesday and she's a rock star!
@kmolleltz... I have some on hand just in case. I don't want a situation like @PCOSbaby described to stress me out and make me crazy. It's a personal preference.... I also got the formula for free from signing up for the Similac program, so nothing lost if I'm completely successful and don't want to use it.
also- had a dream about you last night! DH and I were visiting Africa for some reason and I realized we weren't far from you. The best way to get to you was to go on a 4 wheeler. I got nervous about the 2 hr ride there and backed out so DH decided to go visit you on his own (haha). When he got back, I was jealous and decided to go the next day. @LGW2015 was there and decided to join me (we were all still pregnant). Anyway, we get there and you put us to work at Chick-fil-a... And I was a terrible employee. Lol... Then I woke up. Anyway... Not that interesting of a dream, but obviously you two were in my mind.
hahahaha @bnsmith85 that's really funny! I wish I had chick-fil-a here! haha. 4 wheeler. Wow.

@anna.oscar Hang in there mama..your birth story I'm sure will be a reminder of how unpredictable delivery can be for us and we can find strength and hope knowing that others have made it through. there is a reward at the finish despite such a unplanned gruelling marathon. You deserve all the squishes, a gold medal, and a stiff drink! * Hugs*
Yea good luck everyone having a baby today/this weekend! I'm super jealous as I sit here with what feels like the baby's whole body wedged under my ribs
@kmyers228 i'm sitting here with the same sentiments! i know baby will come when she is ready but sheesh am i ready for her to pop out. I'm not even sure what to expect when its go time since this is my first baby. but yes, congrats to you ladies having your babies today and within the next few days. cant wait to see all the beautiful lil faces
So the fun begins! I was admitted to the hospital this morning at 8am for a scheduled induction (I'm high risk). Started feeling crampy contractions this morning for the first time ever so I'm really hoping my body cooperates. I was 50% effaced and a "little open". At 9:30am they started me on the first dose of cervix ripening meds. Fingers crossed I progress quickly!
good luck to those laboring! and congrats to the new moms!
@kmolleltz - re: formula, if you don't end up needing it you can return it unopened or give it away, but if you do end up needing it you will NEED it, like *now* so it's a good idea to have it on hand.
Update- I got pitocin at about 11:30 this morning. It was causing pretty regular contractions, every 2-3 min, for most of the day, but I wasn't feeling them, except for some minor occasional cramping.
Along with that and some other setbacks, including swelling at my IV site and placing a new one with a sonogram machine, no baby tonight. She offered to break my water, but said it would be long and painful since I'm only at 2cm. We decided to stop for tonight to let me eat and rest for a few hours, place another cervadil around 9:30, take a sleeping pill since I only got 2 hrs last night, then start up again in the morning. She's hopeful that things will go much more quickly with round 2 tomorrow.
Hey all! I'll post in the birth announcement thread also, but Claire Marie is here! She arrived at 2:18 this afternoon! 8lbs 1oz! She has a full head of brown hair and we are in LOVE!
Well ladies, I got my Hollywood "it's time!" moment after all.
We have my SDs for the weekend and we did a lot of fun stuff with them on Friday and Saturday night. We even made kugel for rosh Hashanah. My eldest SD said as we were taking our evening walk after dinner last night that "I think we'll have this baby tonight! You're breathing differently. You're gonna wake me up in the middle of the night and we'll get to go to the hospital!"
She was right. I got up to pee at 2am and gushed out fluid. Double checked to make sure it really was. Called L&d and they told us to come in. So at 3am my whole tribe---kids and all checked in at hospital. hooked up to monitor now and waiting on the mw to come check me.
