My labor buddy, @sjo_thetwins, is having babies today (or tomorrow)! If she doesn't progress on her own in the next hour, she gets the Pit! Please send her good vibes! I cannot wait to telepathically squish those girls!

@sjo_thetwins yayyyy!!! So excited for you that it's finally time!!!! Sending positive vibes your way for a smooth labor! Cannot wait to see those pretties
Lots of prayers for Johnny @AllyTheKid.. sounds like the absolute best is being done for him! Good luck to all the laboring mama's today! I hope it goes by quickly for everyone!!!! @LauraPCOS good luck getting your sweet boy to eat- lots of skin to skin as often as you can keep hand expressing and pumping! You've got this mama!
Thanks y'all!! Hooked up to an IV now with antiobiotics since we didn't have the GBS test done in time. Contractions were every 6 min but I was dilated to a 5 and bleeding from the cervical check. If I haven't progressed in the next couple of hours on my own, then we get started on the pit. IM SO HUNGRY. Come on, babies.
Thinking of you @sjo_thetwins - you have a whole community here just waiting to see those girl's precious faces! Fingers crossed for a smooth and easy delivery!
@allythekid I'm not religious and I don't believe there's any pattern to what people get and what they can handle, but I DO know you are one tough mother and if Johnny takes after you at all, he will have this taken care of. Plus he's lucky to have you for a mom to be tough for him! I know this is really hard but we're all thinking of you and sending as much mental strength as we can.

This is completely random, but the bolded is actually a common misconception about religion, specifically Christianity (sometimes perpetuated by Christians, which is particularly interesting to me). Christians actually believe that God absolutely gives people more than they deserve. If he didn't, we wouldn't need him. It's his way of drawing us closer to him and cultivating our faith.
So excited for all you girls having babies today! Good luck everyone, hope it all goes smoothly!!
@AllyTheKid So sorry to hear your little guy is having a rough time right now. Thinking of you guys, hopefully his stay is short and sweet and you can take him home soon.
@Copperboom86 I'd never assume all Christians believe the same thing - I personally know some that do believe "God never gives you more than you can handle" as well as some that think "God gives you more than you can handle by yourself so you need him." I apologize if I made it sound like I thought all religious people believed the same thing - I just meant those are two sentiments I don't believe.
@RainMira9e As someone who spent all day yesterday muttering to myself "God never gives me more than I can handle" I do want to add that most Christians I know say these words, but truly mean "God never gives me more than I can handle.... because with him I can handle anything."
For me personally, when it comes to religion, I tend to say things that have a much deeper meaning then I might explain because non-Christians might feel like I'm preaching or pushing. Just a thought I had to add to your discussion with @CopperBoom86....
@sjo_thetwins - this is a moot point now (obvi) but I am so surprised your OB never thought to give you an early-ish GBS test considering you're a) carrying twins and b) have been going through all you've been through. Shame, OB.
Ladies what does "back laboring" truly mean? Like laboring laying on your back? Or that you're having contractions you feel on your back? If it's the latter, what do back contractions feel like?

Back labor is contractions that you feel in your lower back. Mine felt like really intense period cramps that wrapped the whole way around my body and I couldn't get comfortable in any position.
@annabenanna It means the latter, feeling contractions in your back. But, I didn't have back labor with DS, so I don't know how that feels. I think for some it feels more intense than regular labor...
@annabenanna My SIL had back labor with 2 of her babies and she said it's intense cramps in your back. She said it was way worse than her regular contractions with her first baby.
Ahhhh, now I understand. I gotta learn these terms "back labor" "labor down". I'm still kinda clueless.
@waterfall213, I've been feeling that weird lower back period like pain on and off---but not so bad to where it is wrapping around my entire pelvic area. Yesterday though, I held in my pee too long (conference call) and that's how it felt. The pain radiated from my lower back to EVERYWHERE. I thought I wasn't gonna be able to make it to the bathroom.
@waterfall213 i read somewhere that holding in your pee causes contractions but also makes you get a UTI. awful. but honestly i think the reason i hurt is because there's no more room in there unless i empty my bladder.
@annabenanna "laboring down" is when your cervix is fully dilated, but baby is still a bit high. Instead of pushing and exhausting yourself, you let the contractions move baby down until the baby is closer to +1 or +2 station (which is basically they are moving toward crowning).. hope that makes sense
@annabenanna I love your questions because I typically have the same ones! @cbamama641 thank you for explaining labor ing down! I've seen it so much and had no idea what it actually meant . I just pictured someone bearing down and really working. Lol.
@RainMira9e - oh please don't apologize! I just find that particular sentiment interesting. It's one of those that non-religious people know and tend to think is biblical. What I meant to say was that the bible actually teaches that He does give you more than you can handle. @krzyriver what you said is absolutely correct.
@annabenanna - Ive heard that back labor is way more intense than regular labor and that it often happens when the baby is facing forward, instead of toward your back.
I had intense back labor for 18 hrs with my DD,it felt like my spine and lower back were about giving out. My entire contractions wrapped from front to back and rounded off at my lower back,it was really intense,my OB told me it's cause my baby was facing forward and lying back to back on my spine. I am really hoping i won't be experiencing back labor this time around.
I fear back labor- one of my good friends survived it and boy does she have some colorful descriptors for the experience! All you mamas that managed it should automatically get rockstar status.
I felt my contractions in my upper thighs and lower abs, but upper abs weren't so bad. I had DH massage my thighs and it was wonderful (or at least as wonderful as it was going to get lol). I worry that there would just be no relief at all for back labor

And yes @chriscasey33, I totally thought it meant pushing down hard too. Lol
