I really wanted Lindle as the MN, after my great-grandmother. But then her initials would have been CLT, and DH said that sounded phonetically too much like a part of the female anatomy...
Little man will be named Jameson David. We're also keeping our name secret from most people so we don't have to deal with unwanted criticism about our "unique" name.
@MommaTake2 my son's name is Jameson!!! I love it and he always gets compliments on his name. I was clear to my family no nick names, like James or Jimmy and everyone's pretty great about calling him Jameson.
We are going with 2 middle names and our son will be John Edward Brooks (all family names). DH really loves the name Jeb and I didn't care for Jebidiah so our Jeb is going to be for his first three initials. He was unsure about 2 middle names but it was the compromise that made us both happy with the name.
Definitely loving this thread. It's encouraging to read. We are really having trouble naming our baby. We are down to 12 names with 3 months to go. Considering we had 30 names 3 months ago, maybe we will have it down to only a couple come delivery day!
@Diamond0323 please tell me that's an HP reference! We chose Oliver Andrew because a) we love the name Oliver, b) Andrew is a family name, and c) because the names together somewhat sound like Ollivander and I'm a huge HP nerd. Love love love your choice.

Wow! I don't even know if we thought of 30 names PERIOD, let alone had 30 names! We struggled to come up with 3!
One thing that we started doing is referring to baby by one name for a day or two at a time, just to see if it felt natural and "right" calling him that particular name. That eliminated one of our three, at least it did for me.
@swhiddon33 YES! I wanted to name him Hagrid because he is my favorite character but DH said H*** NO! Should genetics lean to his side I understand his point. (He looks like a lumberjack and rather large) So I settled and he was forced to agree. He named our DD Laurana after a character in one of his favorite books so it's only fitting I should do the same.
@Diamond0323 That reminded me of an idea my boyfriend had for a name. He's not into Harry Potter, but he's way into Game of Thrones, and he suggested we name our kid Stannis. I kinda liked the sound of it, but we decided no.
@Lisa3379 Stannis is a cool name but not a character I would name a kid after. I love GOT too. With DD I wanted to name her Arya but it was way to common at that point. I love getting names from fantasy shows/books because not many people give those names as they are unorthodox . Nothing worse to me than calling you're child's name and having 10 kids with the same name turn around. I walk through wal-mart yelling Simon to see who turns around or answers just to make sure he won't be in that situation.
You all are lucky... FI wanted to name our son Finnbogey Carlsephny. Or something to that effect. He said it's a name from the Icelandic sagas, which he's obsessed with, but neither one of us has that heritage. I convinced him to settle on Rhett Wilder. It took a lot more convincing than I thought it deserved.
We are down to short list of Cole (top pick), Jonah and Xander. MN will be Edward. We still have others we've discussed on a back up list, but we probably won't decide until he makes his debut!

I said we should name our child John Snow. DH laughed, I was serious. Ok, I wasn't. But it would've been cool!!!
