I'd just like to add all of you talking about chocolate I hate you all. I just raided my stash of Dove milk chocolates and I still want more chocolate. I hope you're all happy!

@sammyl1221 psh. Makes it double delicious that's what. Bonus: when you're drinking "hot chocolate" with the kids- you're at least getting more out of it than just extra calories WIN
edited to add that it's made with red wine so it's ALSO a fruit and good for you.
I'm not sure if this belongs in UO, BF or WTF, but I just don't get checkbooks anymore. This probably sounds absurd especially since I have a background in banking. DH is so weird about it; he is adamant about us writing additions & deductions in our checkbook, but then NEVER crosschecks it with the bank statement. What's the point if you don't double check your records? I look at our account online about 4 times per week. We get our statements electronically every month, and I use online banking 99.9% of the time for everything. I don't write many checks and we spend everyday things on our credit card, so I pretty much know mentally what we have and where we are at.
@temmetime I am the same. We have a checkbook in the car for 'just in case' and rent. Everything else we do cash or card for. I keep a running total in my head and we check online every 2-3 days&compare receipts to see what has processed. H lets me know if he goes over $5, unless it's a bill. So idk why we have a checkbook at all.

fun fact - in articulating my birth plan to the group - it reminds me. DH is reading the journals of Louis and Clarke and at one point there were traveling with members of a tribe. One lady was super pregnant and stopped to give birth. Louis and Clarke were ready to get their men to halt while the woman was cared for but one of the men from her tribe was like... oh no no it's fine, she'll pull off and catch back up in an hour or so.
And then she did. With her nursing babe against her chest. wut.

Lol!! That is crazy!!! I can't even go to Costco without feeling like I'm done for the day. Let alone give birth and keep on trekking. I would've just been another casualty on the trail.... clearly, I need to summon my spirit animal.
"I'm having a sea turtle birth. It's where you give birth on the beach, kick sand on the baby, and see if it makes it to the ocean. It's what's best for the baby."
Also, dark chocolate is best, sorry everyone. DH says I only like chocolate that's "bitter and hateful".
I have no UOs but clicked on the thread bc 64 responses seemed like A LOT of UO traffic for us...glad I entered the made up drama and Lewis and Clark facts made it worth it!
@temmetime not to ruin the fake drama and replace it with real drama, but in my circle of friends, it really is a pretty unpopular opinion to say that we're only aware of Black people being killed by police because of media coverage. It's a subject that has needed a spotlight for a long, long time, and so the latest coverage is a bit 'too little, too late.' I had to say something because I thought that perhaps you might have been under the impression that it's not a real issue that we should all be concerned about. I can point you to some reading material if you want to hear some good reasons to care :-)
I don't think it is so unfair and unbalanced that the media is actually covering something that has been happening in every corner of the country since Jim Crow. Should every police officer be painted with the same brush? No, I can't imagine having that job. Does that mean we should sweep something this widespread underneath the rug? No I do not recommend sweeping when you are more than 7 months pregnant. I hope that made you all laugh.
And let's hope I don't get banned for this next comment..... I haven't liked chocolate for the past 30 weeks and I think it's gross. Boom.
