I've never understood the appeal of (American) football. From what I've seen, it is a bunch of oafy, sweaty guys in helmets and padding jumping on each other and stopping every 30 seconds.
I dont get the appeal of Tool. Any time they come near, suddenly everyone is their biggest fan. I've tried listening to them, and everything sounds the same to me.
I think it's okay to use the TV as a babysitter on occasion. My 2yo has learned a lot from Mickey that I would've never even thought to start teaching her... She can identify an octogon and diamond! Besides, momma needs a break sometimes.
Haha not a fan of football. Every year DH exclaims " it's your favorite time of the year football!" I'm glad he is not obsessed and watches a few games here and there for his fantasy league.
Had dinner at with DH's family last night. They can be pretty religious and we are not. It is awkward when we hold hands to pray before a meal. They think it's cute to have the 4 year old lead the prayers, haha but we don't. DH and I sit and are polite about it. But I wonder if they notice. To each their own I guess.
I don't actually like most fruit. I love smoothies.. and I obviously will eat fruit.. but I don't enjoy it (even though I like sweet things..) I love veggies though.
I might get hated on for this one, but the show Friends!
I tried watching it and never got into it. I never understood all the hype with the whole Rachel and what's his name? lol Just not my cup of tea, I guess.
@herewegrow we watch a Disney movie nightly to go to sleep. We also play while it's on in the beginning, but its a nice transition for DD to realize its time to start settling down and get ready for bed. We've tried just going to sleep without it and she just doesn't get it.. she would go 12,000 mph until midnight.... my kid doesn't sleep so we do whatever necessary to get her to crash! No shame in our movie game
I took DD to McDonald's after her doctor appt. This is after I just watched Supersize Me fore the first time ever last week.
My UO... that documentary was taken way over the top.... not saying McDonald's is healthy by any means... just saying it could have been presented in a more rational manner is all. Like if he drank water instead of coke I bet his liver would have not been wrecked as much as it showed. I am in the boat where moderation is key, just don't go crazy.
The show The Walking Dead. It's literally all my co-workers talk about during the fall and it drives me slightly crazy!!! Everyone seems to love this show but I just couldn't get into it.
@emox3232@mylittleirvz Oh, TWD.... My friends used to get together to watch it at people's houses, and I basically started watching because of FOMO. Now we've moved to another state and I just can't with that show anymore (DH LOVES it). I think I'm gonna stop watching and read the recaps the next day instead so I at least know what happens in the story. Too many nights going to bed shaken up!!

Ugh, I used to LOVE documentaries, but after that one and Michael Moore's films became popular, everything is just super biased crap. The past 5 years or so have been an absolute dearth of informational quality in the genre. Can't Ken Burns just make every documentary from here on out?
I hate sweet potatoes. They are so sweet and gross texture. And they people who cover them with MORE sugar and marshmallows or make them into pies...gag. And I do LOVE sweets. I could live off brownies and ice cream but not a sweet veggie. Nasty.
@shaunessa my family loves the marshmallow covered sweet potatoes at thanksgiving and they make fun of me every year when I refuse to partake in them. Now give me regular mashed potatoes with tons of butter, yum!!!
Yeah, more sweet potatoes please. But, I hate them with marshmallows. My family and I are in complete agreement on that. But DH's family does marshmallows sometimes. I literally had to tell them just to not. I was firm about it and they didn't last thanksgiving. But a whole bunch of butter and some brown sugar. My favorite!!!

@visualcircus DISAGREE!!! Peppermint oil saved my life my first pregnancy when I had killer headaches weekly.
Along the food line, I hate cranberry "sauce" at Thanksgiving.
I have a teaching UO. I don't really believe in special behavior plans for individual kids. I've never, not once, seen them work long term. I am completely willing to accommodate students in my room and scaffold their needs, even behavior, but ultimately, if the class system doesn't work, it's a matter of them learning replacement behaviors, not changing the chart or stickers or whatever the hell else. Rant over.

I don't believe in cleaning sneakers unless they smell or have poop on them. They are made to be in constant contact with the floor. Dirt is going to get on them. No brainer.
@emox3232, @mylittleirvz & @schef070911 my husband has been desperately trying to get me to watch The Walking Dead for about a year. I refuse. I think that he is secretly thrilled that I go to bed with our toddler now so that he can watch a couple of episodes in peace.
@Rileypie & @mrsstuessy I also hate the sweet potato marshmallow casserole! It makes me gag to think about it.
I guess my UO is that I really don't like Thanksgiving dinner. I like the actual event, we usually have a good time, but I could pass on pretty much all of the Thanksgiving food. I don't like stuffing, cranberry sauce, and I am not a big fan of turkey. I usually end up with a pile of mashed potatoes on my plate and not much else!
@chelle087 same here. The holiday is ok bc I like getting together, but I usually serve ham (or at least have a small one for me) bc I just don't like roast turkey and then I'll eat some mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. Last year I was off carbs so it was even more boring.
@chelle087@Dannylion24 I really don't like turkey at Thanksgiving. Usually I just get one little piece (so nobody's feelings get hurt, haha!) and then carb load on mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, etc, etc..... I do like ham better though and I usually make a big one for us for Easter!
Those who don't like roast turkey, have you ever had deep fried turkey? It's not like breaded fried chicken. It's so so much better than dry turkey in the oven. You don't get the good drippings for gravy, though.

For those who don't really like thanksgiving foods . . . I'm Hispanic so we get to have tamales, rice, refried beans and other authentic food like pozole and birria. I love it. Then I go to my DHs family and I call it white thanksgiving ( in a loving way) because they are all cucaisan and have a the usual thanksgiving foods for dinner.
@Dax28 DHs family is Mexican, but they save the tamales and yumminess for Christmas. And I come from a split home, so I typically get to eat Thanksgiving 3 times! Yikes. Thankfully, I like turkey.
There is so much Thanksgiving blasphemy going on in this thread. Hands down one of my favorite holidays because of the core foods involved.
Turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and graaaaaaaaavy. Plus whatever miscellaneous other goodies people bring.
Don't get me wrong! Thanksgiving is absolutely hands down my favorite holiday - I just love the vibe and all the delicious carb-y food and the time with family. Except turkey. Deep-fried is better than baked for sure but it's still not my favorite.
@pammasu0909 Dh just had to share a fantastic video of some new product that made the guys treads look new. I want those 2 minutes and 40 seconds of my life back
we normally do both ham and turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I normally stick to the ham. Now I want stuffing after all this Thanksgiving talk.
