@mrsdaddario Ditto to the above; I am sorry you are in limbo. I can only imagine what it would feel like to keep getting faint positives on one brand and negatives on others! Something different always has the potential to be something good, though. I have my fingers crossed for you and am really hoping to see good news from you on Thursday.
@laurad75 My visit summary from the GYN referred to it as a Clomid challenge. Is that different from just taking Clomid for a cycle?
Yes. The clomid challenge is for insurance to show that you have a good chance of responding to fertility treatments. They will do base line blood work on CD 3, then you will take clomid CD 5-9, they do bw again on CD 10. They are looking for appropriate changes in your estrogen levels and FSH levels (I say appropriate bc I don't know exactly what they need to see - they will explain that to you).
When you take clomid as part of regular fertility treatment you will likely take it CD 2 or 3 through 6 or 7.
Edited: does it automatically tag the person you are quoting if you quote?
My RE had me take it CD5-9 for a treatment cycle. What's the norm around here?
I've never taken Clomid, but with the Letrozole I've taken it both starting on CD 3 (mainly) or CD 5, depending on how things fell with scheduling. Either way is fine.
@Zoey1019 Good luck with your IVF protocol! Fx you won't need it and this is your cycle, but it must be nice to have all that in place.
@furbabymom2007 I'm so glad to see the cyst resolved and you got to go forward with your IUI!
@Marley629 I hope all your tests go well, that's great your OH is on board for this process.
@felix08 Yay for three follies! Fx your IUI goes well tomorrow. My Clomid is from days 3-7, I just saw you asked that later in the threads.
@mrsdaddario ((hugs)) I'm so sorry you're feeling that way, and that you're in this position. We're all still rooting for you!
@rh10264706 I feel you on going between hope and feeling like it'll never happen. I feel like each cycle is a little less hope and a little more like it'll never happen. Good luck with your IUI!
@hope for a baby I'm so sorry you're going through that. I wish I had more to say than just offering internet hugs.
@persnickity Good luck at your HSG! I took Ibuprofen before and it was unpleasant for a few seconds, but was manageable. HSG/ultrasounds are usually what go with Clomid, because if your tubes are blocked then there's no use, and if you have a bunch of developing follies they want to cancel the cycle. I'd be wary of using it without the care of an RE.
@DungeonTrollMel It sounds like your RE is on top of it, all of that is really encouraging.
@tallyally Fx for your IUI! I have trouble believing they work also, but I'm trying to have a little hope.
@ReesaAnne16 Sorry about the lines getting more faint ((hugs))
@LadyMillil That's good to hear about the bleeding, I hope it stays away! I also wonder if it's the commute, back when I used to drive a lot more for work I had a much harder time with stress.

Diagnosis (If you've been): Possible PCOS (according to previous doctor) but I felt like another opinion was needed so I am waiting for my appointment with this new doctor to see what she says
Cycle/CD: 10 / 5 (but with irregular periods I am not sure how to correctly answer this since I did go some months without a period - 10 = # of months TTC and since I currently have AF - 5 is the # of days I have had AF)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Waiting for diagnosis
How are things going? They are a bit frustrating. I wish I could already have an answer and do what I need to do so that TTC would be more effective for DH and I but I am also scared about what the doctor will say when I have my appointment.
Any questions? Nothing at the moment.

Hello everybody! I took some time off while on vacation and taking care of some stuff. It was much needed time away to breathe non-TTC stuff.
Diagnosis (If you've been): PCOS
Cycle/CD: 13th month... CD 22
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?). None.... Unfortunately.
How are things going? I'm still just annoyed about not being able to do treatment until we move at the end of October. So I'm WTO, but that's not going to happen so I'm just waiting for time to pass. My husband is the best and is so supportive of my ups and downs. Love that man.
Any questions?
GTKY: Who would play you in a movie? I hope Emma Watson!
I hope you all don't mind if I jump in here! I'm going to my first fertility-related appointment Thursday with my gynecologist (and hoping I'll be referred to a RE soon)! I've been watching this thread each week and have learned so much from all your experiences and knowledge.
Diagnosis (If you've been): Nothing yet
Cycle/CD: 29
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): I guess technically the TWW, but I've been staying in the WTO board because FF never shows that I ovulated. My cycles are typically 31-33 days long.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) First appointment Thursday.
How are things going? Very excited and very nervous. I know going to the doctor isn't going to magically make me pregnant, but I'll be glad to be moving forward after 16 months of trying on our own and hopefully getting answers/support.
Any questions? Any advice of what I should definitely ask about or for at my first appointment? This is a "fertility consult" with my gynecologist, not a RE, expecting this to be just a first step probably.
GTKY: Who would play you in a movie? Oh wow, I'm really not sure!

@mokay19 - I'm sorry to hear you can't start treatment until after you move. On the bright side, that's not too far away anymore and I'm happy your husband is so supportive. That definitely makes things a bit easier.
@kyersten - Good luck at your appointment and keep us updated. As far as what to ask, I would ask anything you can think of. I would suggest between now and then writing down questions as they come to you and bring the list with you. That way you don't have to try and remember them all.

Diagnosis (If you've been): none yet, all tests normal so far.
Cycle/CD: month 17/CD 23 (2 MCs)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): H had an SA and karyotype test. I had karyotype, baseline blood work/US, and hysteroscopy. Waiting for the karyotype results but all is normal so far with everything else.
How are things going? Well, we don't really have a problem getting pregnant, but I do have a problem staying pregnant. Things are going pretty well, but I've really lost the stamina to temp. I was excited to get back into it this month and then I barely did it. Hopefully next month will be better. We are BDing every other day since last week just to try to cover our bases. I typically have 5 week cycles, but I know it's never a guarantee.
Any questions? How do you keep up the stamina to temp? Exhaustion is winning out lately...
GTKY: Who would play you in a movie? Hmm I'd like to say Natalie Portman just because she's awesome and we're both brunettes with high cheekbones.

A good place to start with questions is to let her know your background. We've been trying to x amount of months, we've never been successful. These are the things I do to track my cycles (x,y,z), so I know I am ovulating (or not).
RE's will want you to have a few tests done before they begin work with you. Almost all of it can be done via your OB. Ask if you can get the following: An hsg to check if your tubes are open/blocked. An SA for your husband to evaluate how his swimmers are. Blood work to evaluate how your hormones are looking. An ultrasound to look at your ovaries/uterus.
Go in confident and advocate for yourself. I'm sure after having tried for so long your OB won't dismiss your worries, but it's a good idea to be persistent about what you want. I learned early on while being on this board that you MUST be your own advocate because no one will fight for you, the way you do!
@mrsdaddario Thank you, I need to hear that! I actually voiced my concerns at my last yearly appointment with my nurse practitioner at the same office. At that point we had been trying a year. She told me I was "too young to worry" and to wait another several months and "just relax". I really regret not advocating better because another 4 (almost 5) months later still nothing. And all this time I could have been testing and possibly treatment.
Knowing what to ask for as far as tests go helps a lot! Thank you for your advice!

@kyersten don't you hate when people tell you that you're young so it's fine... I'm sorry but my age doesn't affect my strong desires to become a mother and my frustrations with our struggles. That's always a "reassurance" that makes me want to slap someone.
@kyersten We're glad you're here and good for you for insisting you start some testing. The others have done a great job of letting you know what to expect and once the tests are done you will have a better idea what you are working with.
Like @mrsdaddario said, you MUST advocate for yourself so don't let them tell you to 'relax'. Let us know how the appt goes on Thursday and good luck.

Hey all. Sorry I've been MIA, but trying to catch up. I'm on paid leave for the month (yay awesome benefits!), but have been packing my schedule and out of state a ton. So here goes nothing and sorry if I'm way behind on my responses:
@Zoey1019 I've done IVF. I tried various IUIs for 3 years and finally made the leap. We have had great success and I hope you do too! IUIs were a major struggle given my PCOS and some women have better luck than others, but not me.
@felix08 I loved the trigger shot since I felt more confident knowing I had a chance. I didn't find it uncomfortable or anything. Good luck!
@mrsdaddario sending you creepy hugs. HPTs and the trigger shot fade out can be frustrating, but you're not out yet! FX this cycle works out for you. Go easy on yourself the next few days.
@hopeforababy I'm sorry to see you go. If you go the adoption route and want someone to talk to, I'm here! I'm adopted and can give you some perspective from "the other side" if interested, but it is a beautiful thing!
@mrsdee15 I'm sorry to see you had a rough few days. Hugs.
@ReesaAnne16 FX for you, but don't worry about strength of a line so long as there is a line! I hope this cycle works out for you. TW (BFPs mentioned) Honestly on my successful cycles my lines really didn't get very dark at all during the TWW and even just beyond. my betas showed high numbers though (eg I even waited for first morning pee!).
AFM - insurance approval finally came in although it bumped out my cycle dates a week and a half.
Diagnosis (If you've been): Me - lean PCOS; DH - MFI (using a donor)
Cycle/CD: I have lost track of cycle day entirely due to the delays. Still on estradiol
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): "WTO"
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?). FET
How are things going? Yeah well... Annoyed at the delays, but at least I don't have to skip the cycle.
GTKY: Who would play you in a movie? Definitely Kristen Wiig. A) she could accurately convey the chaos, absurdity and WTF moments that are my life and I don't take things very seriously so I would need it to be a comedy
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Doing my bloodwork this cycle and H is re-doing his SA
How are things going? I've come to terms with all of this, so I'm doing well. H has not come to terms with it, so we're having some issues whenever I try to talk about what is next. He just keeps hoping we'll conceive naturally.
Any questions? I have a few.
1. H is re-doing his SA because motility was kind of borderline (40% when they want 50% or higher). My doctor had said she wants him to re-do it but waiting about a week instead of 3 days between the previous ejaculation and taking the test to see if waiting longer helps. But when I got home from the appointment I realized he actually had waited a week the first time. My doctor still wants him to do it again, but I just read earlier today that going more than 3 days can improve count, but lower motility and morphology. I'll probably ask my doctor too, but do you guys think he should do it only going 3 days instead of 7 this time to see if that helps?
2. I asked this one on WTO, but you all would be more likely to have an answer for me. My doctor ordered bloodwork for me this month, but only the CD21 (aka 7dpo) bloodwork and not CD3. At the appointment I just assumed she didn't see any reason to test at the beginning of my cycle since I ovulate just fine. What is the difference in what is tested on CD3 and CD21? Is it just that estrogen vs. progesterone and everything else is the same?
GTKY: Who would play you in a movie? Not sure about this one...
@britters314 my RE does semen analysis after waiting 3-5 days because he thinks that's when you'll get the best sample. I agree that 7 seems a little long. Also, I second what LadyMillil said about the bloodwork and I think it might be good to get the CD3 bloodwork so you have the whole story and not just the second half.
@mokay19@LadyMillil Hmm, my order for the 7dpo bloodwork says it is testing TSH, prolactin, testosterone, progesterone, FSH, LH, and insulin. Is it meaningless to test things like LH after I've ovulated? Gah, maybe I just need to switch to an RE now and do all my testing there.
@britters314 I'm not 100% sure but I always thought that they preferred to do most of that testing around CD3 (especially the FSH and LH). But maybe they also do it later...? I had all of that tested at my CD3 labs and then had my progesterone check separately after ovulation. I'm sure @LadyMillil will have a better, more scientific answer though!
There's nothing wrong with getting the blood tests done at the OB, but they may not know exactly what to be looking for or testing for. Good luck!
DH and I went to a fertility consult with my gynecologist this morning. It was our first fertility related appointment. It was helpful to know what tests to ask for and she did ask if I've been using a method to see if I ovulate (which I do, the Wondfo OPKs and temping). I've never seen clear signs I have ovulated and rarely (like twice the past 16 months) see CM.
So that being the case, she has two plans she wants us to do....
Plan A (two cycles) - she calls this plan "The Shortcut" Clomid Day 3-7 BD EOD during FW Day 21 blood work for progesterone If no AF, pregnancy test
Plan B - Testing and Referral DH SA ME blood work days 3 and day 21, HSG, and referred to RE when tests are complete.
At least we are moving forward! Not sure if I have questions yet or not. I am sort of worried Clomid is being used before any type of testing, is that normal? She already filled my prescription for it, so I will start that this cycle (AF is due any day now). Thank you everyone for your help!

@kyersten For an OB that is the normal route. On one hand it's great you've got the ball rolling. It's also good to see she doesn't want to go gangbusters and do three or four cycles of Clomid. However, it is concerning that she doesn't feel the need to monitor you. Clomid is a serious fertility drug and should be monitored with ultrasounds. All in all though those are the typical steps for OB's to take and a good place to start.
@kyersten I have not taken clomid but with a life time max I would be hesitant to try it without some further investigation into the Heath of your uterus. For instance it won't help if your tubes are blocked. Also was your doc going to monitor you with ultrasounds to see what type of reaction you have to clomid? If it were menI would opt for an RE consult even though it can take a few months to get all the testing done. Good luck

It is normal for an OB to suggest that because they have no idea what they're doing. Go with plan B, you'll get better care in the long run and won't jeopardize your fertility.

@kyersten - Good luck at your appointment and keep us updated. As far as what to ask, I would ask anything you can think of. I would suggest between now and then writing down questions as they come to you and bring the list with you. That way you don't have to try and remember them all.

Good luck! Let us know how the appointment goes!
@SaphireSweetie88 Welcome!
@mokay19 I'm glad you took sometime that was needed, and that is was refreshing for you. We all need a break from it sometimes!
Knowing what to ask for as far as tests go helps a lot! Thank you for your advice!

Like @mrsdaddario said, you MUST advocate for yourself so don't let them tell you to 'relax'. Let us know how the appt goes on Thursday and good luck.

Take a look at my blog
benefits!), but have been packing my schedule and out of state a ton.
I'm adopted and can give you some
perspective from "the other side" if interested, but it is a beautiful thing!
Cycle/CD: I have lost track of cycle day entirely due to the delays. Still on estradiol

Diagnosis (If you've been): Possibly MFI - low motility
Cycle/CD: month 13 CD 14
Not sure about this one...

Also, I second what LadyMillil said about the bloodwork and I think it might be good to get the CD3 bloodwork so you have the whole story and not just the second half.
Good luck!
So that being the case, she has two plans she wants us to do....
Plan A (two cycles) - she calls this plan "The Shortcut"
Clomid Day 3-7
BD EOD during FW
Day 21 blood work for progesterone
If no AF, pregnancy test
Plan B - Testing and Referral
DH SA
ME blood work days 3 and day 21, HSG, and referred to RE when tests are complete.
At least we are moving forward! Not sure if I have questions yet or not. I am sort of worried Clomid is being used before any type of testing, is that normal? She already filled my prescription for it, so I will start that this cycle (AF is due any day now). Thank you everyone for your help!

How do you all like to deal with AF?
It was my day off, so I took myself shopping (yay cute kitcheny things) and ate a whole bag of twizzlers.... It was awesome. I'm thankful AF came before this weekend, because I have a retreat I'm going on and now I can drink and not get any weird questioning glances because I'm not drinking.
BTW Does anyone else feel like Target should have special child-free hours? Like a time that I could go, shop, enjoy my coffee, and NOT have to see babies being fawned over, toddlers giggling, and pregnant women dreamily rubbing their bellies????
