Braxton hicks

I feel like I've been having them a lot here lately. My midwife advised that if I have 10 in an hour to contact them. I've been trying to keep track and I think I have had at least 7 this last hour. I'm not dehydrated and I'm working, but nothing too tasking. They aren't paingul..but they are uncomfortable. I'm 30 weeks 3 days. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Braxton hicks

  • I had a ton with my first pregnancy, fewer this time. I'm drinking 2 bottles of water before I even start work which has seemed to help. If you are having that many/he consistently for a while I would call.

  • I've had a lot too. I ended up having to go into the hospital over the weekend bc of them (so paid a big copay to be told they're nothing). If you have them sit down, drink a lot of water, and see if they reduce. From what the doc told me real labor contractions last between 30sec to 1 min and get gradually more intense. Plus you'll have other signs (mucus plug, water breaking). When in doubt call the doc though. Better to be safe

I feel like I've had a lot more with this pregnancy (#3) and mine are uncomfortable, too.
  • I've had a lot with this pregnancy, and I did with my last pregnancy too.  This time they are mostly non-painful, just tightening of my belly.  I did have 2 weeks or so of one's that felt like cramps, culminating in like an 8 hour stretch of them that made me a little nervous.  But they haven't led to anything.  My doc said it was fine and normal.

  • I only felt them at the end of my last pregnancy. This time, I've been feeling them a lot sooner. They sometimes stop me in my tracks but they've been manageable. :)

  • I've had BH since the end of my second trimester one day they lasted 6hrs but because they were inconsistent L&D said not to worry. L&D told me if they are consistent (time and length) for over 1hr that's when you need to worry or if they become more intense. I freaked out when my dr told me I was having them for the first time I had no idea since I've never had them before but they are just another joy of pregnancy!
