R/R: Going to my Gynocologist Thursday for my first "fertility consult". Wondering will they do testing or any type of treatment, or most likely just refer me to a RE? Very excited to be moving forward though, after 16 months of trying with no results!
(Edited to ask - also DH is coming with me, is it weird or unusual if he goes back with me at the office? I thought they might have questions for him plus I wanted his advice if I have to make decisions.)
Couldn't say what the doc will do for sure, but testing has to happen on certain days of your cycle so it depends on where you are in your cycle and what they're prepared to have you do. My gyno gave me all the orders for tests and told me when to get them, but after speaking to some friends who saw REs and reading experiences here, I made an appointment with an RE rather than go through the testing the gyno ordered. I also was skeptical of my gyno's expertise because she told me to get a blood draw on day 21 to test my progesterone level, and I said "I don't ovulate until day 21." And she gave me this blank look then goes "Well then go 7 days after you ovulate." And I thought "Shouldn't that be the original order, and not just "day 21"?" So the RE is the way to go. Also no, it's not weird to have your husband there, unless you have a problem with him seeing the exam (the doc will most likely examine you). He'll at least be made aware of the next steps and can ask questions.
And thanks everyone for the understanding of my FB rage

R/R: I'm feeling relatively defeated about this cycle before it's even begun. It's like I just have so much going on in life and then there's this mental block regarding TTC....like I just don't have the emotional capacity to handle it. I'm still doing all the things to TTC but it feels mechanical, for a lack of better words, at this point. If you notice that I'm in and out of the daily threads this month, this is why.
CS/Q:
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? Smoothies, greek yogurt with fruit, or bran cereal with skim milk are my go to items during the week. I also cannot skip breakfast due to blood sugar issues, but I also hate having to eat immediately after waking up. I'd love to do eggs during the week but can never find the time.
@NYTino24 Sorry about CD1 considering the short term disability delays.
@BusinessWife I sneak food when packing DH's lunch, too. I hope you are able to settle into your new place quickly.
@linzrunz I'm glad your migraine is gone. FX that your new Rx will make a difference for you going forward.
@busymommy23 My DH needs a video game intervention as well. And while we're at it, if someone could knock his Fantasy Football addiction that'd be great too.
@magnolia131 and @busymommy23 I am with you ladies! I was hoping to have some fun last night but DH was too enthralled with the football game to go to bed even a little bit early. He had to make sure his team won and his fantasy football was going well.
WAYDTGKU: waiting for CM to kick it into gear, but I O'd earlyish last month, so Ive started testing too, just to make sure I catch it.
R/R: My neighborhood is doing this thing called a foodie crawl tonight. Basically the neighborhood used to be run down, and now that its picked back up, all the restaurants around are going to have samples of their food to try, so Im excited to try a few that we havent been to. Im also annoyed becuase my neighbor was making obnoxious sounds at like 5am so my temp probaby got messed up. Its been rising a whole 10th of a degree each day, and I think todays was because of that (less than 3 hours of sleep), but because I O'd early last month, I have to make sure my temps are good, and this one might be out, ugh!
CS/Q: none, just annoyed
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? Nope, never have been. I would be much happier eating left over dinner food, mid morning, than having a real breakfast, but ever since starting TTC I figured that I should eat something, so i have been eating a yogurt each morning, and Decaf green tea. Not what I want, but its what I should do.

R/R: I'm feeling like I'm already out this cycle and I'm not even sure if I ovulated yet or will. My temp yesterday spiked up to my post-O levels but then I took my temp this morning and they are back down to pre-O levels. FF thinks I will O tomorrow but I'm not sure what that temp spike yesterday will do to my chart. Also, I had EWCM for a couple days this weekend and now it is creamy-ish so WTF body. And I can't think of any reason that my temp would have spiked so much yesterday. It's just one of those day where I'm ready to jump off the TTC-train for a day to stop stressing. Rant rant rant... sorry guys

GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? I'm not big into breakfast. I usually make a smoothie during the week and then we go out on the weekends sometimes. I usually get some sort of scramble or maybe French toast. I do love hash browns though!
@beachbunnyxo123 I know how you feel. I was at a wedding this weekend holding my infant niece and tons of family friends kept saying how I was a natural with her (with a big *hint hint*). And my sister straight up asked when her daughter was getting a cousin.... my younger sister who got pregnant with the first grandchild weeks after getting her iud removed.....

CS/Q: nope
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? YES! I need to eat pretty soon after getting up. This week I'm trying 1/2 cup overnight oats with almond milk and chia seeds and this morning I chopped up an apple to go with it. Then on the weekend I make a big green smoothie and freeze in small mason jars and thats my "second breakfast" at work between 10-11. I do much better with a few smaller meals throughout the day. Sometimes I'll make waffles on the weekend and freeze. Or toast with homemade jam and maybe a little cheese. I used to eat greek yogurt, but I realized it made me break out big time.

@NYTino24@felix08@eggplantface Thanks for the answers on temp spikes. @eggplantface I don't get much in the way of EWCM but it's been watery for days and seemed a little closer to EW last night. My CP has definitely changed though and I got another +opk this morning so there's that...definitely will HIO again tonight!
@linzrunz fx that the new prescription will help with the migraines. I had that issue last year. My migraines were starting to get a little ridiculous. Then when I went for an eye exam I had been pushing off for 2 years, we figured out why. My prescription had definitely changed! Ever since I got new contacts and glasses though, I really haven't had an issue!
@busymommy23 I am in the same boat when it comes to wanting to smash DH's gaming console!
@NYTino24 I can't believe they didn't get back to you about your short-term disability! What a drag. (What is "WaterPik" in your WAYDTGKU?)
@JennyV56 My surge is always short so I typically have a temp spike the next day if my +OPK is in the morning or the day after if my +OPK is in the evening. I know others get 2 days of positives, though.
@beachbunnyxo123 Oh, that is tough. I'm sorry that happened to you. I wish people knew what a thoughtless thing that can be to ask.
@slavenski Your comment made me spit tea onto my desk! Amazing!
@tentoeturbo Yes! I hope you are off to TWW tomorrow!
@lulilaev Yep, I had the same conversation -- my husband thought women were fertile all the time, all month. His high school health class drilled in the "you can get pregnant any time so don't do it even once" hard core.
@kyersten It's likely your gyno will want to do bloodwork so that you have it to take with you to an RE. This will save you time with the RE -- your gyno will likely test estrogen/estradiol, progesterone, possibly testosterone, FSH, LH, and prolactin. I personally think it's worth having this done regardless of where you are in your cycle so you have a baseline for that phase, but the RE will ask you to have these done again on specific days. Given your age, they may or may not test AMH -- though you should ask for AMH regardless, I just think it isn't always standard. Your gyno may also be able to give your husband a collection cup for SA, depending on the practice. You can wait for all these things with an RE if you want, but if you're impatient (like me), you can ask your gyno to do them -- it can't hurt and it's just bloodwork. Good luck! Regarding your husband coming in, I think that's fully your choice and I can't imagine the doctor would be opposed if it's something you want.
@busymommy23 Video games are the worst. My husband is the same way when certain new games come out -- I refer to myself as a "video game widow" during those weeks because it is like he doesn't exist anymore.
@magnolia131 Sorry this is such a rough cycle for you. *hugs* Definitely don't worry about being in and out -- we're here if you need us.
@marybpoppins I use Wondfos because they are cheap! 'nuff said.
@jeg07 Did you have other O signs yesterday? It's possible that you O'd with yesterday's high temp, then today's is a low 2dpo fallback rise. I've had this before (let me know if you want to see that chart -- it freaked me out but it's perfectly normal). See what your temp does tomorrow.
@antoto That is a tough chart. Sorry. Maybe things will straighten out now.

I have to eat breakfast or I get serious low blood sugar. DH makes me scrambled eggs most mornings and I eat a piece of fruit with them. On weekends, we're more adventurous!
@adirat thank you! I would love to that chart! On day 12 (two days ago) I swore I felt O cramping and had lots of CM so I could've sworn it happened. Then I got my temp rise yesterday and then this morning I got completely thrown off. Thank you for a possible explanation! I wish it was tomorrow already so I could check my temp
Editing to add: I put in a normal post-O temp for tomorrow and FF did give me crosshairs (the chart with my temp for tomorrow is below). I guess I can just hope for a higher temp tomorrow especially since we didn't BD last night
CD: 18 (got crosshairs this morning BUT I am not entirely convinced. CM lines me up with an O day 16/17 but FF has me at 15. Worried day 16 temp was falsely high because we spent the day before at a winery)

R/R: Had an amazing weekend with DH- picking apples at a winery/orchard. He had minimal work distractions which never happens and he worked from home Monday when I was off and we made delicious things with apples and got plenty of BD time!
CS/Q: quick chart: 1. if you use the CBAD for an OPK once you get the non blinking smiley, do you record it for one day or two? I got my peak smiley day 16 and is another reason I am concerned my crosshairs are off. the last two months my temperature and the OPK and CM lined up quite nicely. (regular until you're not...)

I cannot wait until DH and I get a new place! @kyersten I dont think that would be weird at all! He is a HUGE part of your fertility!
@MommytoM13 I looked at your chart -- I think there's nothing to worry about at all. Many ladies on here report temps being wonky during AF, and you have so many open circle temps that I wouldn't worry. If your temps are taken consistently moving forward, you shouldn't have a problem noticing O.
@jeg07 I imagine FF is skeptical because of the frequency of open circle temps, but I definitely think your chart shows a CD12 O with a 2dpo fall back rise. Here's what my chart looked like with my fall back rise (ignore the CD12-13 spikes as I was sick):
I had a big spike after CD17 O, a 2dpo drop nearly to the coverline (below the coverline if you accept my fever temps as valid), then popped back up to high levels the next day. I read up on this quite a bit when it happened, and a fall back rise is not unusual or anything to be concerned about -- just a dip in estrogen after ovulation. FX you have another high temp and you're off to TWW "officially."
Can I add something funny. I had to run to the grocery store after work yesterday. I was using a self checkout and had a issue with one of my items. While I was waiting for the clerk to finish with another customer, I glanced over at this guy that was across from me at another self checkout. I noticed that he was buying Preseed. I smiled because I actually knew what it was for. lol. So that's a big THANK YOU to you ladies for telling me about something I had no clue on!

@adirat I would LOVE a chart stalk! My concern is that alcohol shifted Temps up around cd15-17. For reference, the other day where alcohol is a factor is the other spike at CD 8. I really spike with booze. I'm on mobile. I hope it's not huge.
@slavenski I just can't the "warm and full" just makes me want to toss my cookies! @jennyv56 thanks for asking the question I was thinking. and thanks for @Saralee797 for responding. @felix08 good luck! @busymommy23 You have far more restraint than I do about these things! I would have just walked up and shut it off in the middle of his game. Or i mean the baseball bat would work too. @NYTino24 Sorry about CD1 and with regard to the short term disability, is it a policy offered through your employer? A lot of employers don't offer it (mine does not) so I had to shop around for a carrier. I found a policy which only has the 9 month exception. Still difficult, but I would just say check around because not all policies are created equal. @littlebug2010 the foodie crawl sounds amazing. Unfortunately where i am is over run with chain restaurants. I wish we had more variety. @jeg07 sorry for the frustrations. But you are not out until you are out. GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? I am a breakfast person. I must have it every day. Last year I did the 21 day fix and a 21 day sugar detox so I am pretty hooked on a high protein breakfast. Usually scrambled eggs and bacon, but if I am extremely lazy, then its a bagel and cream cheese from Dunkin Donuts to the rescue.
I am so with all of you with the video games and football. DH will do both at the same time. On Sunday's he has his whole set up, one big screen for football, one smaller TV for his video game, then at least one computer for fantasy football. GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? I love breakfast! I eat plain oatmeal with fruit most mornings.
@MommytoM13 Agreed with @adirat that it looks normal. Your chart looks like mine right after AF. My temps take a few days to fall back to pre-O norms after AF, and during AF they hover in between pre- and post-O. You're not going to see consistent temps, same every day; you're looking for an overall shift in temps. And it will look especially spikey until you get the shift because it's super zoomed in on just a few tenths of a degree. When it zooms out you'll see the larger shift.
@WillRunForWine21 So wait, was alcohol also a factor on CD17 and 18, or did you just drink on CD15? As for OPK recording, I would put peak on the advanced OPK/monitor field and leave it at that if you didn't take a another OPK the next day. While CBAD won't let you test again because it assumes you surge for two days, it's possible to have a short surge and not actually be surging for two days. Others may have more insight on that though.

@eggplantface and @TravelingCouple thank you so much for analyzing. Alcohol is only a factor on 15 and 16. I typically ovulate around 17. I think my concern is that alcohol confounded the temperature rise. I would not be surprised if I am a short rise in hormones person. My last two cycles I O'd on the second day of peak from the CBAD. Either way the timing is of course what it is though I wish I would have pushed for Sunday BD as opposed to Monday morning.

@Willrunforwine21 Totally get it -- I spike with alcohol, too. Given your CM, I'd lean toward a CD16 O versus FF's CD15. Even CD17 is possible with watery CM. It's hard to say for sure which day you O'd, but given CD18, I would definitely say that you did, and that's what matters!

R/R: This is my first month temping and checking CP/CM. I'm definitely struggling with how to classify my CM. Despite drinking tons of water everyday, I don't think that I have much CM to begin with. I know every woman is different but I could not get my head around the author of TCOYF saying that she had so much that she originally thought she had an infection. Anyway, it's causing me anxiety because I automatically assume that my lack of CM translates to me never being able to get pregnant.
CS/Q: not at the moment.
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week? Absolutely! I turn into a hangry beast if I don't eat soon after waking up. I usually opt for a protein shake or eggs.
Me: 32 H: 32 Married: October 2009 TTC#1: August 2016
@mommytom13 I agree with @adirat temps tend to be high and fluctuate a lot during AF (personally I don't start temping until AF leaves) so I wouldn't worry about them being all over the place right now. I would suggest to make sure your consistently temping at the same time every day though to have less open circles and a more definitive date for O.
@bumpybump That's so cool! I am interested in the eggs, but DH seems to think for meat, too. I was thinking about starting with just barred rock and maybe orpington hens? I'd love to find the white ones though, if possible. Supposed to be fairly docile and decent for meat/eggs I think? Any thoughts? What kind does you mom raise? Feel free to PM me!!! :)
@BusinessWife You have to look out for foxes and coyotes too (if you have them where you live)
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@swimsister Thank you! And kittens, plus pancakes – what more
could you want!?
@Saralee797 I had (thanks to an earlier post of yours, I
believe!) planned to definitely make sure the tests at the very least get to
rolling. I’m so ready to get some answers!
@eggplantface You always have so much helpful information,
thank you! I didn’t realize until recently that testing has to happen certain
days of your cycle. I’ve read some horror stories through searches on the board
of gynecologists not monitoring the way they should or seeming to be as knowledgeable
about fertility. I think after my appointment I’m going to ask for a referral
to the RE (who are just one floor down from where my gynecologist is located). Also,
totally get the FB rage… thinking about taking a break from it soon for similar
reasons.
@adirat Thank you, I would just really rather him be there
with me… he’s been so supportive of this whole process and I know he has a ton
of questions as well! I hope she orders the tests ASAP… so ready to get started
on this next step.
@WillRunForWine21 that weekend sounds amazing and romantic! It’s
on my bucket list to go apple picking with DH.
@BusinessWife I want chickens so badly someday! My DH isn’t
interested because he’s afraid I’ll name them and get attached, so he can’t
have them butchered (he may actually be right about that lol). I think the
Silkie chicken would be hilarious to have.
Trying to do better about responding! I usually mobile bump
during the day and read all your always helpful responses, but then don’t
respond! Going to start pulling my laptop out at night to become more involved
through responding and commenting on others’ posts. You are all the BEST!

WAYDTGKU: all of it and then some
R/R: I'm feeling relatively defeated about this cycle before it's even begun.
@linzrunz I'm glad your migraine is gone. FX that your new Rx will make a difference for you going forward.

GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week?
I eat breakfast every single day. I have to or I'm grumpy! I usually 12 tablespoons of egg whites and some type of carb (fruit or toast usually. Some days I'll do oatmeal with egg white instead of water. If I do that I have to add a little peanut butter in there.

Rant rant rant... sorry guys
CS/Q:
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week?
I'm not big into breakfast. I usually make a smoothie during the week and then we go out on the weekends sometimes. I usually get some sort of scramble or maybe French toast. I do love hash browns though!
@tentoeturbo Yaaay for maybe ovulating!
Month/Cycle: 4/3 TTC (a year of ntnp)

R/R: Its my Monday. I soooo do not want to go to work this morning.

@BusinessWife how exciting!!

Otherwise I usually make pancakes and eggs with feta cheese on the weekend. My culinary skills can only be stretched so far.

Yet they can store all of my other sister's crap since they live overseas. Just pisses me off because that's a huge savings to have all that clothes and I feel like they are just giving up on us having another since it's been "awhile" since DD was born. Plus, my sister who lives overseas seems to always be their priority since they moved 3 years ago (also pisses us all off). I guess I should just be happy we have through 3T for girls already and one box for newborn boys (we did Team Green so needed both last time).
CS/Q: None, should have O soonish (hopefully)
GTKY: Are you a breakfast person? If so, what are your go-tos during the week?
I have to eat breakfast to function. I basically eat whatever I make for DD. So it could be cereal, pancakes, waffles, bagel, smoothie, oatmeal, etc. Since I had DD, eggs make me queasy and have some other issues with them so I make them for her but don't eat them myself. I do try to change up breakfast every day.

Month/Cycle: 2/2
CD: 12
WAYDTGKU: Temping, OPKs, CP/CM, Stopped taking Zyrtec everyday for seasonal allergies, Cutting back on caffeine (the struggle, you guys. THE. STRUGGLE.), Trying to BD EOD

@swimsister Thank you! And kittens, plus pancakes – what more could you want!?
@Saralee797 I had (thanks to an earlier post of yours, I believe!) planned to definitely make sure the tests at the very least get to rolling. I’m so ready to get some answers!
@eggplantface You always have so much helpful information, thank you! I didn’t realize until recently that testing has to happen certain days of your cycle. I’ve read some horror stories through searches on the board of gynecologists not monitoring the way they should or seeming to be as knowledgeable about fertility. I think after my appointment I’m going to ask for a referral to the RE (who are just one floor down from where my gynecologist is located). Also, totally get the FB rage… thinking about taking a break from it soon for similar reasons.
@adirat Thank you, I would just really rather him be there with me… he’s been so supportive of this whole process and I know he has a ton of questions as well! I hope she orders the tests ASAP… so ready to get started on this next step.
@WillRunForWine21 that weekend sounds amazing and romantic! It’s on my bucket list to go apple picking with DH.
@BusinessWife I want chickens so badly someday! My DH isn’t interested because he’s afraid I’ll name them and get attached, so he can’t have them butchered (he may actually be right about that lol). I think the Silkie chicken would be hilarious to have.
Trying to do better about responding! I usually mobile bump during the day and read all your always helpful responses, but then don’t respond! Going to start pulling my laptop out at night to become more involved through responding and commenting on others’ posts. You are all the BEST!
