I should add, I did have a Moby, I never figured out much with trying to carry both twins in it, but I liked it for my singleton. It was cumbersome to wrap and get used to. I also had a Beco structured carrier that got a lot of use with my youngest. I liked that I could unbuckle it with her still in it to transfer to another person, and also to pee with her in it if we were out somewhere, lol.
I want to find a ring sling that is easy to slip baby in and out of and still need to find the moby.

I love my Becco soleil and will probably get the Gemini for the newborn stage. I also have a Moby wrap and a baby bjorn that I made a cover for because DD legs were cold in the fall/winter
I loved my Ergo when DS was little. I still have that and the infant insert. I do also have a Moby wrap to try this time around. I'm also a little scared that I won't tie it right!
Re: Detergents Any free and clear is fine. We recently switched to seventh generation unscented and I'm very pleased with it. We all have super sensitive skin... And my toddler is very very messy so I've been pleased with its cleaning power!
Re: Drop in Bottles They still exist! We use them right now, my kid gets 1 bottle at bed time and they are so easy and quick. We used Dr. Browns before that but never again they were awful to clean. I still can't decide what to use this time. I feel like drop ins would be pricey in the first year. We didn't use them until we probably should have been taking the bottle away (but my kid didn't sleep for nearly 8 months- sooo I fear all disruptions to her bedtime routine) I think it will depend how breast feeding goes. AKA how many bottles we need/use.
Re: Baby Wearing Tried mobey it was ok - she loved it but I found it cumbersome. We switched to an Infantino for two months until I bought my Tula. That was love! We just loved our Tula. My toddler is anti-baby wearing these days but I have a Ring Sling and standard carrier waiting her soon to be sibling!
I did look at wraps but decided quick was best for us. If a cheap Ktan came around I would snag for the first 2 -4 months. It looks easy and perfect for the NB days.
Somehow I missed this whole thread until now... so much good info ladies, thank you for sharing!
I too have been researching baby wearing. The Great thing about my SIL having her first right before me (now 4) is that I got to try all her gear with her. She LOVES her Tula, the only complaint she ever had was that outside in Florida it gets very hot to baby wear for extended periods. I tried it on with my 2 y.o. niece, and it was very comfortable.
Since the heat was an issue though, I ended up buying a lillebaby all seasons, because it has the mesh roll down, and you don't have to buy a separate infant insert.
I'm also registered for a baby k'tan for the tiny phase. Watching Moby wrapping videos convinced me that I was not coordinated enough for one of those.
Question though: DH is all good for baby wearing, but the k'tan is sized. I need a medium, but he is a good 9 inches taller than me and broad through the shoulders. Is there any chance it will also fit him, or should he just stick with the lillebaby?
@WinchesterGirl I want a k'tan too, and the way I see it the bulk of the time it'll be useful is during my maternity leave, getting out and about for walks and errands. By the time H has substantial alone time with our baby, I'm figuring he'll fit in our hopeful-future Tula. I know you're not planning to go back to work, but I think the logic still applies.
I keep finding cute baby sweatshirts and sweaters that have hoods on them...my instinct is that the hoods will get in the way and be annoying and so I have passed on a lot of otherwise adorable clothes. Am I wrong about the hoods?

I personally don't think they get in the way! DD doesn't love having them on (once she was old enough to pull on them) so they don't get lots of practical use-but they are super adorable! She wore lots of them in the winter. Especially love the ones with little ears on them!
If they don't want to wear the hood over their heads, on a baby that's not yet sitting up, I picture the hood being bunched up all weird behind baby's neck when he/she is laying on a blanket or is in a car seat or is in a carrier.

That did happen with us occasionally and also it would often fall off because their heads are so small. I'd still do sweaters and zip up hoodies though. I got my daughter one of those animal winter outfits that's a one piece and has a hood on it and we used that when it was super cold with a hat under the hood.
@homemake I bought the same one piece in white! So freaking cute! And then, because I bought the 3 months size, I went back and bought the reindeer one in the newborn size.
I was just thinking that for hanging out in the house, the hoodie seems to be unnecessary and possibly a bother.
@Amber_Waves they do get bunchy and the waist band slides up. They're really cute so I just take them off for the car seat. I do like the prams like homemake posted.
Sweaters are definitely safer than hoodies. I always had DD in layers so she was nice and warm but never with hoodies until she was older and even then she never wore them when she could fall asleep. It's too bad they make them so cute but I think they pose a strangulation/smothering risk.
We did onesuits with hoods on them, and then had a layer underneath. Both my kids got really hot when they would sleep, so I usually took the onesuit off. They just napped in onesies with a light swaddle, Sometimes just the onesie. Otherwise, the hood never bothered them.
They do bunch up, but they are adorable. In the carseat if they were wearing anything with a hood. I would put it up so they were flat in the seat. I think they helped more like a scarf, so if you have a hat, then pull the hood up and over, their neck is protected more from the cold too.
I am nervous about a winter baby, my kids were all spring/summer. With running around for the other kids, I feel like we can't just hibernate

Man, I can not figure out what size I need to be buying for this kid. I found a few cute long sleeve, winter onesies that I want to get for him, but if he's a big baby and only in newborn for a week (or at all!)....that's such a waste, I should get the 3 month. But if he's a small baby, maybe he'll be in newborn longer, and then the 3 month would be pointless because it'll be warming up! Am I over thinking this? Should I just get the newborn size in the winter stuff? He'd literally only wear it for like the first month, then it'll be getting warm again.
Some background as to why I'm so concerned with this: I'm only 5'4", but DH is 6'7" and MASSIVE. He's broad shouldered and just a big dude. Also, at 18 weeks baby was already 9 ounces, which sounded big to me.
@scifichick09 that's a hard one. I ended up buying very little in newborn , a bunch in 0-3 month, and a lot in 3 month size. Some newborn stuff is SO tiny. I think you will be good with 3 month stuff fitting in winter still unless you have a tiny baby. We had moved out of newborn by a few weeks and she was 8 lbs. You could always purchase, keep receipts and don't cut the tags.
@scifichick09 just buy some in both sizes but leave the tags on. Even if they're small they can still get away with the 0-3 months in the onsies. Side snap shirts and gowns are good too for around the house and a little less important to size.
Babies can definitely get away with clothes being too big. Also, how much are you outside in the Spring/Summer? We tend to stay inside a lot so and the air conditioning was still a bit cool on them at 3 months so I had no problem dressing them in long sleeves on mostly inside days.
I'm 5'3" and pretty petite all around and DH is 6'1" and is a pretty big guy. I was 6 lbs 12oz at birth and he was in the upper 9lbs (I don't remember how close to 10, but it was up there). DD was born on her due date and weighed 8lbs 1 oz and DS was 10 early and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. They both wore newborn sizes for about 3 months and stayed pretty true to the Carter's sizing. With both of them, somewhere in the 9-18 month range is where they off from typical sizing for a while, then around 18 - 24 months they typically were back on track.
DD was a month early- she weighed 5 lbs 14oz. She's always been true to size so I've gotten a lot of wear out of her clothes. She is just getting out of 12 months and she is almost 17 months old. Meanwhile, my cousin has a 10 mo who weighs 28 lbs and wears 18-24 months. You just never know.
@scifichick09 both my kids were very different. dS1 was in newborn sizes for 3 weeks and was in 3 month for a long time. He wasn't gaining weight very fast and he wasn't very long, so he was in smaller sizes longer. Ds2 was very long and over 8 lbs when we was born. We didn't use any of the newborn clothes or newborn diapers. He also grew out of 3 months cloths very fast. Both were born over 40 weeks. My husband is 5'5" and I'm 5'6".
It's really hard to tell how big or small the baby will be, even based on your and your husband's size.

Now as a toddler she still fits in clothes a year or two behind.
