Holy catfish! It was a long read & a litle confusing at times. But seriously, someone spent a whole year making up stories & telling lies? Who has the time or energy for that kind of nonsense?! But kinda stranger danger freaking out after reading it all too.

After reading the first few pages of that ... I can't stop wondering who our catfish is.
I feel like if we have one they've been laying low so far.
I'm currently more worried about the randoms or shitstirrers that are obsessed with getting a FB going. Or the ones who freak out on a dime and hit that report button with wreckless abandon. That's soon to evolve to "Now that I have personal info on FB, I'm going to flip out over a speck of snark and track you down to tell your employer/grandma/husband/dog groomer what a hideous meanypants you are."
Wow I didn't realize what a black hole of threads I was getting into when I started reading that. I know I shouldn't be surprised after watching that Catfish show on MTV, but to make up a fake profile on TB pretending you are pregnant and also have other children seems way more psychotic then the people just creating a fake Facebook page to date someone. Truly scary.

i remember reading the archived version a long while ago. It was a lot easier to go through as it was saved before the thread got closed/ people got banned. I'll post if i find it.
@BumpasaurusRex I agree. Every time I have heard of one of these it was someone people knew. (Usually liked too but always well known)
I never seem to get suspicious until things are pointed out, or if I am suspicious I just hold back on the most personal stuff.
I usually have a great memory but I can't seem to place the catfish with the right board from the past. I know there have been many fake people/catfish, AEs, and even a situation where a board mod cheated people on board. I know it had to be before the big exodus because I used to post a tiny bit elsewhere, lurk other places that were fast paced and interesting. I am going to go back and see if I can find where it happened, hopefully I am not mixing boards up completely.
Back when we used to have mods there was a BMB who had a mom who I think suffered a loss. (Possibly early birth but I think a loss) People collected money to make a donation but the money was kept by the mod who was in charge. She was eventually called out on it and showed some sort of donation but it was either for much less or faked. I will see if I can figure out where and when. Maybe not as scary as a catfish but same idea.

So the chick who had the loss in that BMB , whose MOD stole the money, ended up being on the same BMB as I was on with my MC.
@blush64 I remember reading about that. It had to have Been post exodus. I was O'14 and it wasn't our board but I'm pretty sure I remember being pregnant at the time and someone posted about it and searching out the threads. I wish I could remember what month it was from though. We didn't have a catfish in O'14, but we still had some crazy after we made a fb group. Seems like there is almost always one, or some sort of super crazy unfortunately.
