@Gretchypoo the Moby wasn't too hot in winter but because of the stretch you can't use them for too long, especially if you have a bigger baby. There is a Facebook group called Babywearing 102 that has some great information. There are tons of types and brands of carriers and fabrics depending on what you're looking for.
Is it necessary to wash all baby items with baby detergent? I went to wash some sheets for the bassinet and my mom freaked out and told me I need to get baby detergent to wash them in. So, I didn't wash them and will go buy baby detergent this weekend if need be, but I am just wondering, is this a my mom thing, or is it really necessary?
When people say "get child size towels instead of infant size" what are the dimensions of a child size? When I was looking online I looked at towels labeled as "infant" and "child" and they were the same dimensions.
@scifichick09 I think that might just be your mom. I used free and clear with my first and am using an organic plant based detergent now for everyone so I'll continue to use that.
@Gretchypoo I used my sisters Moby a few times and my daughter never liked it. Wrapping it was kind of complicated too, so I got a mei tei style carrier and she LOVED it.
@scifichick09 I think when we were babies there weren't as many (if any) free and clear detergents as there are now, so people bought the baby detergent to prevent exposing super delicate newborn skin to the dyes and fragrances as a way to prevent possible reactions.
Some people still want to use baby specific detergents but it seems most will use a free and clear regular detergent until they're ready to try their regular detergent.
@scifichick09 Using any free and clear detergent is fine. Babies tend to have pretty sensitive skin so the scent in the detergent can give them rashes.

Definitely not!!! The only thing you might have to do is use a free and clear detergent in case there are sensitivities. But baby detergent isn't anything special or necessary.
I started out using the Moby and quickly got tired of all the wrapping involved. If I were just trying to get into the store I felt like I looked as if I were performing some kind of magic act. I also had a ring sling, which I adored for quick trips. Such ease with popping him in and out of that thing. Finally I got an Ergo at the suggestion of a friend and it was my favorite!
@scifichick09 I love the ALL brand's Free & Clear because it's much more affordable than Tide and some of the other brands. My husband and I already use it on all of our laundry because of my sensitive skin
In addition to washing babies clothes in free and clear I recommend you wash your own in free and clear. T had a horrible reaction when I switched just H and I to a different detergent when she as 7 months old. anytime she touched us she broke out in terrible hives.
@scifichick09 back in our moms' day you needed to buy baby detergent. now just about any "free" detergent works to my understanding. so as PP said. tide free and clear etc.
@gretchypoo We used Moby wraps and a Babyhawk tie for DD. I wore her a lot with both wraps. The Moby was perfect when she was an infant and the Babyhawk was used when she was 12 months+. We own retail stores and DD would go in the wrap or on my back in the BabyHawk while I was in my stores working. With this baby, we plan on adding a ring sling to the mix.
I found the Tula to be better when the baby is bigger and doesn't need the insert, I prefer the Ergo and their insert for the beginning as its not as big and bulky. I love our RS, and am going to try to master wrapping this time around, but with a woven wrap, not a stretchy wrap.
This could go on baby gear but I'm curious since it seems like a lot of us either like ring slings or are getting one for the next baby... What brands are you guys going with? I have one I want but was wondering if there is a front runner like there seems to be with the more structured carriers.

Yes I LOVE the woven wraps too! I had one and of course sold it a year ago, oops.
We used the k'tan because wrapping seemed like some sort of expertise I was not willing to dedicate my life too. But after he broke 15lbs at like 2.5 months It KILLLLLED my back to wear him. I had an ergo and a lilliebaby.. I liked the lilliebaby better, but wanted the pocket of the ergo. I want one of these hundred something dollar ring slings, because they look so lovely https://sakurabloom.com/
@homemake I hate not being able to touch these things.. I wonder if the sakura ones are on par with wildbird double thickness
Yes I wish we could test them out. I know they have a double layer option that's closer to the Sakura price but the single layer is the one I'm going for.

what color do you like? I like the dove but feel like I would have to go dark for the amount I spilled on my kid

Chickadee, bluebird, and dove are my frontrunners. I have Dove as my chosen one but yeah I wouldn't want to get stuff all over it. I heard they wash well but who knows in reality. You could always go Raven. I would never get the two white ones though, that just seems like a bad idea (for me).
@perrasucia I just went to stalk their Instagram and it says not only do they have an end of season sale coming up but they'll have new fall colors too.... I wonder how much they will be discounted.
Seriously Tula has THE BEST prints! It's finding them that is a challenge
It's a buyer market now. Although the Abby's Lane ones seem to hold value.
Yeah, it's crazy how different it is now. It's a sellers market for the blankets right now for sure though! I'm in the FB groups and it all amazes me. But I'm still a huge Tula fan anyway... I just won't be spending the prices that many people do for a good print!
I have a Tula but I'm not a fan of their prints, they're too busy for me. It's a wrap conversion in Didymos pink polka dots. I do a have Heart Rose Ergo and I love that print. I am going to have to get new carriers now I guess haha.
Started babywearing with a moby but dang that fabric gets hot. Loved our beco gemini for the itty bitty phase and then went down the Tula rabbit hole. The MV of the babywearing world has changed so much in the last 2 years. I said after the last kid that I wouldn't get into handwovens unless we had another kid. Well I scored a HW Tula at a stocking(amazing since I have slow internet) and already bought a HW ring sling. My plan this time is wrapping/RS/beco for itty bitty phase and then combo or wrapping and Tula for later. I really want to try an Ocah and Obimama, but until we fit into their sizes there is just not point trying them out. The upside to the MV is getting most things at great prices.
@Spicyweiner Ocah baby size is small(14x14), but the smallest Obi unless a custom is 16x16(same size as Tula). Figured we have plenty of time later for an Obi. Curious how little people use baby Ocaha though. Looking forward to trying more things. I have tried Bamberoo and Kanaluti before and always went back to Tulas.
RE: baby wearing - we had three Moby wraps, an infantino meitai, and an ergo. Ergo was by far the best and DH liked it the best too. Moby was cool during the early newborn days but once DD got big, it was too tough to wrap.

I use regular stuff for H though, because stinky man.
