Trying to Get Pregnant

Re: WTO Thursday

  • @LuND I totally agree " I just have to believe everything happens for a reason" but sometimes the TTC roller coaster gets to me. Thanks for the reminder!

  • @Lund I barely felt it today! It's so crazy how little we are taught!
  • Sorry, I missed a few because my coworker wanted to actually talk about work. Weirdo.

@wabash15 don't you love it when DHs overreact to stuff like that? I applaud you for putting your foot down! Much love to your kitty.

@eggplantface PREACH! I'd be on the same Maury episode with you if I'd had a kid at 25

@BoshnJonnie Ouch. Evil bra underwire. That's the worst

  • @JackieMarie1989 Yep, you're the crazy one!

@littlebug2010 So you'd have hated living in Narnia under the White Witch then :)

@eggplantface I always check The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant for this kind of thing, as she looks at the actual scientific research behind most common TTC things. Here's what she says about coffee and TTC:

  • @linzrunz - I don't think it matters TOO much which thermometer it is, as long as you're consistent and the thermometer is accurate with itself.
@LuND - yeah, I try to be sympathetic, but it's so frustrating. Last night, DH was like "well, it's your fault we started too early". I responded with "I don't get a MEMO when I'm about to O... I'm doing the best I can". Not pretty. It does suck for them because the pressure is on to perform, but that's for like 5 days during the month...we have to track and be concerned about when it's going to happen, if it succeeds... every day.
And we live in the UP of Michigan. Where are you at?
@zwink1 - yeah, I heard this winter is supposed to be brutal too... I'm so not ready for it. Our temps don't get too horrible, but we just get like 3-6 inches of snow every day and then the occasional big storm.

  • I have an after the fact question, well several...sorry! Any help would be LOVELY!

    1) do you check your CP/CM multiple times a day?
    2) If the position changes do you change your tracker data? (I got medium height this morning, now it feels low)
    3) If what your feeling boarders two things which do you choose? (IE: CM that is liquidy, like water, but has some whiteness in it like school glue).

    @EL824:
    1. Yep, at lunchtime, when I get home and before bed.
    2. I have tiny fingers, so I don't track position as I can never reach it :)
    3. FertilityFriend says "Always record the most fertile type you see."

Ooooooh I woulda strangled him! You should totally draft a fake memo that says "I'm working my ass off every day to track my cycle. You need to perform 5 days out of the month. Get your shit together."

My DH hasn't complained about anything yet, it's just me over here freaking out lol. He's also more casual about TTC because he's not concerned about when we get KU and give birth. I'd like to avoid giving birth during the holidays, so I'm trying to make sure I get KU before Jan/Feb. He's being pleasantly quiet and agreeable about it all, which is probably because he's always wanted kids and I just got on board recently.... so I think he's scared of me changing my mind lol.

We're in central North Dakota. Don't be jealous.
  • @LuND & @KhRun17 I'm in WI, right near Lake Michigan so we get all the fun in winter!

@antoto Good point. I guess I should say I've been remembering my dreams more than usual. I was just curious if that extra surge of adrenaline had made a noticeable difference to anyone else. At this point, I haven't noticed any jumps myself.
  • @deadasthatsquirrel yes I would have hated that!

  • @LuND - yeah, he got some silent treatment for a while. And I had offered to help him at work that evening, so we went over there and he asked me to do something, I gave him a snide "sure" and he asked if I can also get out of my mood and I said "nope" and walked away to do what he asked. Lol. Mean, maybe? But I was so not having it.

And I'm not super jealous of NoDak (I had a guess from your username). My SIL is from Devils Lake, and bro/SIL went to school at UND, so we've spent our fair share of time in the state for various things. So not ready to think about winter!

  • @KhRun17 Oooooo my cabin is in the UP - right around near Marquette kind of.  Maybe an hour or so west of it.
  • @antoto Summers up here are AMAZING! You must be right around the Keweenaw peninsula then, huh? (the thumb) :)

  • zwink1 oh man, I am so with you. DH was on the baby train long before I did, and at first he wanted to continue to prioritize reading and watching TV and playing videogames and scrolling through his endless twitter feed over BDing every night, and I was like NO THIS ENDS NOW, WE DO BD FIRST BEFORE ALL OTHER THINGS. Because it is impossible to make it a good experience when we're both so exhausted we just want to sleep. Thankfully he's amenable to this.

@KhRun17 yep!  Not sure if you have heard of the Huron Mountain Club?  But that's where it is.  I'm visiting the first weekend in October and I'm soooooo excited to see colors in the leaves.
  • My little sister is getting married next weekend and has just found out she got a fantastic new job starting when she gets back from honeymoon. Rather than congratulating her on either of these things, the WhatsApp group have all started up with the future baby questions.

    Urgh.

  • @LuND You're not alone! H has the same problem when he's under pressure to perform. He can get it up but can't finish the job. It's definitely not you. A few days after I ovulated last cycle H was trying to have sex and I said "I thought you were done with sex for a while" and he said "No, it's just the baby making sex I can't deal with." Good job trying to spice it up in the shower though! Another funny conversation we had the day after I ovulated: I said "Want to have sex?" H goes "Get that thing away from me."

Ok that makes me feel better! And, same for my H, he got it up and kept it up, just couldn't finish the job. In all fairness, it was right after I turned an OPK for the first time and had told him all about it, so I think that this was the first time it was at the forefront of his mind while BDing.

LOL, I have a feeling my DH will say the same thing after FW
  • So much this, caffeine is a natural PDE3 inhibitor (PDE3 is what lets eggs mature to the germinal vesicle stage).. I will have to check out this book, and tell my husband he needs to cut back too.. He isn't going to be too happy about that.

  • R/R: H and I are having similar experiences with the performance anxiety, although this month seems to be a bit better than last. I think breaking out the lingerie helped lol.  Also, yesterday I was getting things going and he goes "wait, are you ovulating today?" and when I said probably not, then he wanted to know why we were doing it. And I'm like... -_- If I have to explain this ONE MORE TIME. *le sigh* lol

  • @manillabar Just curious but where do you shop for lingerie? I haven't really purchased much for myself but I am thinking why not? with all this HIO
I am going to tag @rainbowturtles too because for some reason I am associating you with this same subject lol
  • @Saralee797 I have had success at Amazon, but only after carefully reading reviews, and the last thing I got was $13 with Prime, and chances are you will need to order a size or up (for the cheap stuff anyway).
