@sourlemon: I imagine we'll go back and forth too. Probably, before she starts school I'll ask if she wants to be called Ev, Eve, Evie, or Evelyn by her teacher.

One reason we picked Emmaline is because there are sooo many nn possibilities. Great idea on asking what her preference is. I'll have to remember that.

Greysen Sean Phillip... 2 middle names like my other son. His dad wanted to name him Mico, and after that suggestion I lost faith in his naming ability.
I'm leaning towards Eleanor Katherine. Eleanor was my grandmother and Katherine was my great aunt (I was also named after aunt Kate). DH has recently brought Evelyn into the discussion (very popular, apparently) after his great aunt Evie with whom he had an awesome relationship with as a child. Basically, we have no idea
@Kate08Young: My grandma tells a story about asking this on my Dad when he started kindergarten and I just thought it was too cute (my dad is a John and asked be Jack, and he went by Jack until college when we started going by his middle name)
For now we like Emmanuelle Adaline. we have been calling her baby Emmy. i'm not completely set on the MN. both my girls have E middle names so i kind of want to continue that but DH is totally against the EE combo for initials. i can get past it if there is meaning but the only MN that has meaning for me is Elizabeth and DH is not a fan.
Our little one will either be Joseph Francis (he'll be the 5th, that was an easy choice for a boy) or Cora Rose for a girl. Rose was my grandmother's middle name.

Love hearing all the names! ours is Lorelei Craig-Craig being my dads name and we wanted to get nods to all the parents in the names somehow, and both our mom's names are in DS's middle (Julian for Julie and Ann).
I just love seeing all your names that you have picked out! Especially the girl names. Adeline has been a favorite of mine.
We're going with Luke Alastair. MN is warming up to myself still. It's a family name somewhere back in DH's side. The only way he would settle is with the MN. He originally thought I would be all on board for FN.
Our runner ups were Eli, Alexander, and Alaric

Ambrose Shantz. Ambrose was picked because it's a saint's name that falls below the top 1,000 names and is vaguely German. Shantz is my maiden name -- it's what H's family does, so we're keeping that tradition. We'll call him Ash around the house, because those are the initials of the name.

@maamawaabangi Wow, that's interesting that it's used down in Uganda! I always think of Ambrose Monk, the brother of Dr. Monk from the TV series, haha.

@PensiveCrayon I just finished reading A Signature of All Things and the main character's husband was named Ambrose Pike. I kept thinking the whole time how much I liked that name and how pleasing it sounded in my head.
Desmond Henry. MN might change since DH isn't crazy about it. Of course, when I ask for a MN he would like better, he can't think of any. :P So, yeah, Desmond Henry most likely.
@PensiveCrayon Ugandans have very unique and cool names, many of them Saint names. Or things like Wycliff, Wilberforce, Stella, or Sylvia are super common. And Kevin is commonly used for girls. Our daughters name was/is Agnes and our sons is Allan.
Either Darren Emerson for a boy or Logan Margaret for a girl. We aren't sharing just in case we change our mind or decide last minute the name doesn't fit. We have thought of some "backup" names we also like but nothing solid so far.

Thanks girl! We don't know anyone with the name so I love hearing about people with it. We are also in love with the nicknames that go with it. Des and Desi are so damn cute.

I'm not a name threads person (for some reason just doesn't interest me) BUT I will say the quality of D16 names on this thread heartens me. I'm SO SICK of people naming their kid something ridiculous to seem so unique or something. Like Falcon. Or Falcor. Or Razor. Or whatever. Although I do think middle names generally matter so little in life, why not go a little wild there. Also, my last BMB had so many babies named after guns in one way or another. That hasn't come up once here! Sorry if you're considering Gattling. Or Klobb. or whatever.

Or it could end up being something totally different!
Our favourites so far are Shea Robert for a boy and Finley Inez for a girl. The middle names are family names honouring grandparents.
We havent shared with family or friends yet just in case like others have mentioned that she or he doesnt 'look' like the name.
