I feel so cut off lately! Between the move and trying to get my life organized, I only get a moment here and there to read and then when I can reply, something comes up and then forget it.
I'm watching my SIL's two week old for a few hours this afternoon to let her get some rest. She's very immature and is struggling with becoming a mother, and losing her sleep time. With my in-laws out of state, I'm trying to help as much as I can, which isn't much these days. Hopefully she'll actually take the few hours and sleep.
Not to pry, but is she struggling with PPD perhaps? It is super hard to adjust to getting so little sleep and even worse with PPD. When I was struggling with it, all I wanted was sleep and it got better once I was medicated and engaging in therapy.
@emy730 She may have PPD. We're working on getting her help there too. She is a willing to call her doctor, so I'm hoping that it helps. She's an interesting person in general, and there are many reasons (a lot from pre-pregnancy, pre-baby) why I say she's immature. She wants everything, but doesn't want the work that goes along with it. It's so strange that she and my husband come from the same household. We just bought a house, and she wants one like it, but she doesn't want to do the work to get one... she literally doesn't want to work.
@vgempis Ahh I see. I totally understand what you mean now. Just someone who doesn't really think through her actions? I think it's nice that you're trying to help her, and hopefully she'll see that and make some positive changes for herself.
@cjs260 I had one 2 weeks ago. Uhgh sloppy drunk people when you are sober nad tired. FML Good luck Hope you're girls hold it together more than the group I was with!
So dr yelled at me for picking up my 3 year old, Told me to try not to pick the older one up. WTF he weighs the same as my 2 year old. Who is going through this awesome phase of being dead weight and throwing himself on the floor. DH works horrible hours. How do I raise these kids with out picking them up???!!!!!!
@laujam31 that literally makes no sense at all. Unless you were on a weight lifting restriction or high risk I couldn't see why you wouldn't be able to lift your child. Weird. Maybe just an overprotective doctor?
@laujam31 That sounds weird that they'd be upset about that. I still pick and carry my 4 yr old up and he's about 38 pounds. From what I understand if there's no complications the risk is only to myself as far as throwing my back out, not a risk to the baby. And my backs feels strong so I carry him when I need to or I want to.
@laujam31 my doc told me to lift nothing over 20 pounds. I smiled and said my daughter is 24 pounds and it's not like I'm picking her up and throwing her over my head, I'm just lifting her to my hip...she kind of frowned and said well just don't overdo it. I'm not worrying about it and they haven't brought it up since my 16 week visit.

It's just a totally unrealistic expectation and one that makes no sense. I thought the rule of thumb with exerting yourself was don't take on any new-to-you workout regimes, like don't suddenly Crossfit if you're not currently Crossfitting, but to suddenly say you can't pick up your kids when you've been doing so all along...whatever, doc, not happening. If you're on bed rest, okay, I can see limitations, or if there's a medical reasons besides a normal healthy pregnancy.
I think it has something to do with the fact that this is my 3rd section and I had a window in my uterus last section 2 years ago. But he also told me not to run with any of my pregnancies. I can see now with the previous sections, but not so much for my first especially bc I run. A lot. So I know he's conservative as well. BUt honestly. I can't not pick up my kids. It would not be possible on a day to day basis. Thanks ladies. I don't feel so crazy now
It seems so weird to me that so many people have never felt an earthquake (says the girl who's lived in California her whole life). I guess it's how I would feel in in a tornado or hurricane.
My belly is officially getting to big to put Nolan (20 months) down in his cribs for naps and bed if I need to lay him down. When he is standing, no big deal, but to lay him down in the bottom of the crib...not happening anymore.
@ladysaceb I can totally relate. This is #3 and I'm shocked everytime I try because I couldn't remember it happening this soon already. Glad I'm not alone.
@laujam31 I life my 40lb 3 year old and 22lb toddler all the time. Also my Toddler does the dead weight throw yourself on the floor thing too...fun times.
We are on day two of potty training boot camp. Wish me luck! What's everyone else's up to today?
Fingers and toes crossed, good juju and everything positive your way! We haven't started potty training yet but really need to soon. Are you using a specific method?
I woke up mad at DH this morning because he was being an asshole in my dream. I can't even remember the dream now and DH is a really nice guy so not sure what that was about. I'm still harboring a little resentment towards him for a dream I can't even remember. I'm blaming pregnancy.
@ashanne88 loosely following the Oh Crap potty training. Never actually read the book (no time for that), just some blogs. Thanks for the positive thoughts!!
and as a wrote this she sat down on her potty and peed!
I'm counting down the hours till 5:30 when DH gets home...makes for a super long day *sigh* I'm ready for the weekend.
Also on my list for today is dishes...and cleaning "MY" corner in the bedroom >.< it's a big pile of yarn and clothes lol
Lol your room sounds like my room! And then on DH's side the floor is covered with hangers and clothes. Meanwhile, the hamper is only a foot away from his dirty laundry... lol oh well.
1. I am so so over morning sickness. I have decided on days when the nausea is so bad and I am so cranky, I think I need a tshirt that reads "Preggosaurus Rex" preferably with a picture of a barfing T Rex on it.
2. I have decided that the ideal way to spend the remainder of this pregnancy would be hibernation. If someone could just wake me up once a week and feed me grilled cheese sandwiches, and then I can reemerge at 40 weeks, well rested and not nauseous to push out this baby.

This is me. I told my husband the other day that hibernation would be an ideal solution for me.
Uploaded wedding photos to fb today and placed an order online for three 12x10 canvas' for above our bed!! Can't wait till they get here, ordering online seriously feels like Christmas when the things I've ordered come!

OMG yes! Morning sickness is the worst thing ever and I would love to be able to hibernate the last half and not puke daily.
@BAJDesigns I'm so sorry you're still getting bouts of MS. Hibernation sounds like a fabulous plan. Especially since we are in day 3 of potty training and it's so hard, I just want to quit. But DH is home today and I get to leave the the house while he takes control for a bit. I've never been so excited to go grocery shopping.

Good luck! We have been at potty training for three weeks now, and it is rough. Maybe my least favorite part of parenting TBH.
@underthesea I do not envy you having to potty train! Enjoy your trip to the store for a respite. Treat your self to some sparkling grape juice or something!
Where do doctors come up with these rules of not lifting your children? My sister yelled at me for trying to help her carry her newborn in his car seat. Like omg you can't carry him....I think I can he weighs 8 lbs I think I'm fine thanks. First she told me she isn't suppose to be lifting heavy things due to her stitches so I'm like alright *grabs his car seat* and then I get yelled at...bro I carry my 32 lb toddler sometimes (not for long cuz holy crap that's heavy) but I think I can manage a teeny tiny babe
@mudderbear my SIL wouldn't lift her toddler at all when she was pregnant last year and I thought it was weird because she totally confirmed that her doctor didn't have her on any sort of modified activity. Now that I'm pregnant with my own toddler I'm going "how on earth did you survive without being able to lift that kid?!" I'm constantly hauling dead weight of toddler meltdown off the floor or lifting her in and out of the crib and that's on days when I don't even leave my house.
Where is a good place to get maternity tights? Any recommended brands? Trying not to get anything too pricey. Thanks in advance!
I always got them at motherhood. They are a bit more there than target/Walmart but I never had issues with getting lots of runs if I got them at motherhood. Also, if you live in a cold area, they sell fleece lined tights at motherhood which are AMAZING
