I'll get he scans b/c they are covered by insurance and while it might not change the outcome of the pregnancy of something is wrong, it would change how I prepared for the birth. My friend's daughter has downs and there was no indication at the 20 week scan. She was incredible overwhelmed getting everything into place and learning everything immediately after having a baby. Another women on my 1st bmb had a baby with trisomy 18 who she knew would pass shortly after birth. I can't imagine having prepared a nursery and not knowing that information.
DD has Turners Syndrome, we had a miscarriage likely due to chromosome abnormality and we will probably still opt out of screenings, unless my OB suggests it. DD wasn't diagnosed until the AS and then we did the Mat-T21 test. I can say it is very accurate and was even able to pick up that DD has a rare form of the syndrome. I was not very happy with the genetic counselor that we met with and I feel like the whole experience caused so much stress and still causes me to over analyze everything she does. I totally understand the need for them and it's a really personal choice.
