24 hour urine collection question

This weekend I'll be doing my third 24 hour urine collection. I almost cried when the nurse walked in with yet another organs collection jug. The first time the lab didn't test my urine for protein so I had to redo it. I was super annoyed. This time my Bp is a little high so they are checking it again now for protein to determine if I have pre eclampsia...

If my urine sample from my visit was clean, why do I need to continue with the 24 hour collection?

The 24-hour collection is more sensitive than the one-time collection in the office. I had to do it 2 or
3 times with DS due to high BP.

Good luck! I hope you pass with flying colors. I would imagine they are just being extra cautious since it is a more sensitive test.

I have done several too! Very annoying but nice that they are being extra cautious. Right now I'm doing a small sample at the lab that tests for preeclampsia which I do have but at the hospital I go to the 24 hour urine comes back negative if your numbers are below 600 even though you have preeclampsia if your protein levels are above 300. Mine have fluctuated between 310-598 and they put me in strict bed rest in hopes of keeping those levels down. I'll be thinking of you! I know it's annoying but at least they are on top of things.

Thanks for the replies, ladies! It's been an emotional week. My regular ob is throwing around the phrase "bed rest" and my high risk dr is all, "it's no big deal..." My thoughts and emotions are all over the place.
