If you drive like a jerk, you are a jerk. If you are constantly getting pissed off while driving, it's probably because you're a jerk. I don't care how nice your social facade may seem out of the car. If you turn into a road ragey monster behind the wheel, you don't have respect for your fellow humans.
Another one- the amount of "stuff" and trash manufactured in the world is crazy. Sure single serving packages are convenient... but look at all that trash we're making. Every time we buy something new, that's more resources sourced from all over and eventually will sit somewhere, not decomposing. Additionally, this opinion makes me a raging hippocrat so much of the time (in fact, just ate a single serving pouch of fruit snacks) - or maybe not hippocrat because my opinion is not that these things can realistically be avoided, but I definitely live in a way that conflicts with my ethics. Somehow this doesn't seem to get to others like it seems like it should... I don't get it.
@slartybartfast I tend to cuss at other drivers (to myself) when I'm driving, but to be fair, I live in a city of terrible drivers. Like make-a-right-hand-turn-from-the-left-hand-lane-in-front-of-my-car kind of drivers. That said, I'm probably also a jerk
My UO: I've been watching a lot of HGTV lately, and I'm starting to think that there should be physically-violent punishments for people who choose the WRONG house. Like seriously, you idiots, mid-century modern and contemporary styles just suck. You don't deserve happiness. I may also be hormonally-angsty today...
@slartybartfast I live in a city that hardcore recycles. Our trash doesn't even get picked up weekly, because everyone composts their food scraps in with their yard debris pickup. I'm with you on that! I visited my friend in Indiana once, and she's from my home city, and she's so confused why they don't have curbside recycling. Her husband makes fun of her for taking it all to a recycling center.
I can't think of an UO right now...I'm sure I will lol.
@Linziloo09 - while you are, undoubtedly, the resident D16 jerk (NOT), I
am also recalling that driving norms really are location dependent. I
remember one of the first things I noticed when I moved here from VA was
that drivers are so much nicer here. However, we're having a population
boom and all the people moving from other places may be making the
roads feel more hostile. Perhaps that's where my notice of the few jerks
out there is coming from (like the people that act like someone cut
them off when, no... they just merged in front of you with plenty of
room... or that tailgate to make you go faster...)
FI always gets made at me for not being enough of a jerk when I drive. I've honked my horn like 3 times. Ever. People cut me off, run their stop sign, steal a parking spot, drive on the g-dang sidewalk to make a right and I just laugh. I don't get the logic of yelling and screaming at them. It's not going to magically make them realize their an asshole driver and change their ways. And I'm not going to waste any grey hairs on getting ragey at them. He can be mad, I'll stay young and beautiful

@tinattt23 I'm pretty sure that drivers in the PNW just don't honk at people lol. I mean, I've yelled, with my windows up. But that's about it. I had someone seriously nearly kill me the other day, by blowing through a 4 way stop at 50+mph, and I still didn't honk lol.
@brittnic86 I'm with you there. It just doesn't even cross my mind and an option. By the time I realize I probably should have honked it's too late. Oh well.
@brittnic86@tinattt23 You ladies need to come drive in the 'metro' of Idaho. Like Pocatello and Boise. People honk all the time. It makes me mad. I yell and flip people off from the safety of my car, and will honk if its like a semi that doesn't see me, but those areas take it way to seriously.

Here's an interesting UO... my friend and I were talking briefly about conspiracy theories today and my H and I are skeptical about the moon landing. Not skeptical enough that it's a hill we will die on, we just have reservations. We don't invest time and research and energy into this theory, we are casual conspiracy theorists. That's the only one we question though... Well, and maybe chem trails. But that I really haven't invested any research in, it just doesn't sound all too far fetched to be completely unbelievable.
Speaking of driving: why in the crazy hell do people camp out in the left lane? It DOES NOT MATTER if you're already going over the speed limit. The left lane is for PASSING. MOVE OVER.
It is the absolute worst when you spend time in Germany, where people actually use their blinkers and use the left lane properly, and then you come back to the US and deal with people that don't get it. Honestly, I feel much safer driving in Germany going 90-100 mph than I do here driving on the highway in general.
@Christinaruth74 have you ever seen ancient aliens? A few weeks ago they had an episode on the moon and all of their different theories. Makes you really think about it. I love hearing all the theories, whether I believe them or not, it just makes you think and really ponder how you "think" the world is because truth is, most of us are just taking someone's word for the history of our world.

@Lisa3379 In Idaho the left lane is the Fast Lane, and are expected to be in it, if you are going the speed limit. This is from an Idaho State Police website :
Move to the right if someone is trying to pass you. This is true in almost every case, even if you are traveling at or above the speed limit. The law states that “any vehicle proceeding at less than normal speed of traffic” should remain in the right lanes.

Yes. I'm totally a road rage person. I also hate being cut off by people going half as fast as I am - couldn't you wait for me to go by you? I honk all the time. I currently walk to work and DH and I are trying to buy a house in a location where I could take public transit to work so I wouldn't have to drive. I don't think driving is good for my mental health.

Yeah, if you are going the speed limit, and no one is close behind you, then staying in the fast lane is fine. If someone is going faster than you, you should move. I feel like there should be better enforcement of this. Besides, who likes to have someone riding your butt? I feel bad if I all of a sudden realize that I've been in the fast lane while someone has been close behind me.
@Lisa3379 This made me laugh so hard! I didn't even know that was a thing until my FI got all pissed at me to staying in the left lane on a road trip. I've always stayed in the far left. Freeways I grew up on all have 5-6 lanes. And there are always people in all of them. Just fasted to slowest, left to right. That's normal to me. Haha.

I hate the term "boy mom". I think for the most part people who use it think they are superior. They're cooler because they do sports and paintball. They don't have to deal with girl drama. They get to be the "queen of the castle". Pfffff.
@Lisa3379 totally with you on moving if someone is coming up behind you, but I was trying to point out that it is NOT a passing lane typically. It is actually a fast lane.

Hey! We went on a trip with DH to Pocatello and Boise in June! It's very pretty out there
@Kate08Young in many states you will get a ticket if you are hanging out in the passing lane when not actually passing anyone (MA, NJ, to name a few!)
I know that, just stating that in Idaho it is not a passing lane, but the dedicated fast lane. Can be used for passing slower vehicles, but typically for those who go the limit or over.

I have nothing good today...except that Sept 1 means I'm allowed to wear sweaters! Too bad it was 97 degrees today! No sweaters for a while I guess. more of a complaint than opinion.
@leksiL BIP is totally not a waste of my time. I so love it for the orchestrated chaos that it is. I've also recently become addicted to UnReal - it's awesome if you love all that Bachelor rubbish
And another UO (on my HGTV rampage) - I loathe the term "man cave". I think it's ridiculous that a man's 'concession' to living in a grown up household is that he have a juvenile space all to his own. I'm totally cool with rec rooms, game rooms, dens, etc. Have a leisure area that's fun for everyone to enjoy vs a more formal living room. Have a couple of different cozy areas in the house where a husband and a wife can watch their own tvs (Lord knows DH and I don't agree on all programming). But when these couples say that the wife's room is the kitchen and the husband needs his 'man cave', I want to smack them for setting feminism back a few steps.

Hate away, sister. I am, in fact, a boy mom. Meaning I am the mother of boys. Is this somehow not correct to you? How would you prefer I identify MYSELF so as to not seem superior? ETA - @whitneyp26
@leksiL@LinziLoo09 everything bachelor, especially BIP!!! It is the best part of my week. I think there should be an entire Bachelor Nation station that just plays everything bachelor all the time. No shame, no guilty pleasure, I love the drama and absurdity of it all.
@zubenescamali there's also something about Bachelor crazy that just makes me really appreciative of my life. Like however bad my day is, at least I'm not Ashley I. Poor poor girl!
When my son is born, I'm going to request that I am called "Supreme Leader." That way everyone will know how much more superior I am when I'm cleaning the bathroom for the umpteenth time because boys have a hard time peeing into the toilet. The toilet brush and faint piss smell will be my weapons of chaos, and all will bow before me!
Can I not call myself a girl mom? Come Dec I'll have 2 girls (and 3 girl dogs, poor dh, who has never said he's "king of the castle"). Why is being a "boy mom" superior than a "girl mom"?
I'm a girl, I did all those boy things. My 2yo DD is pretty "boyish" on the playground but a total girly girl otherwise. Today she chose to wear a fancy dress and light up Darth Vader shoes to my work picnic where she chose to play in the mud with the boys.
I'm not seeing a superiority thing...if you have all girls, you are a girl mom. Same for boys. They each entail different things but there's also cross over in behaviors and activities. I don't see one as perceived as better or worse unless that individual has a hidden bias that one is better than the other. Or jealousy? Idk.
@dmontgo girls have a hard time too during potty training. Or maybe just mine. She wants to see what's happening, wiggles off the seat, and pees all over the seat/floor/dress she's wearing. Although I think girls get over that far faster than boys learn to aim.
@sourlemon Shhh...I'm trying to be superior right now
Totally kidding. I faintly remember learning to use the potty, but will forever remember the *stench* my brother brought to the bathroom because he just could.not.pee.in.the.toilet. I had the pleasure of cleaning the bathroom since I was a lot older, and no matter what I did, it smelled like piss. One of the happiest times of my life was when I didn't have to share a bathroom with him anymore haha.
