Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Wednesday

Re: WTO Wednesday

  • @lulu1180, thanks for the link! It never occurred to me to check it internally, maybe that will help me get more consistent findings. I was standing with one leg up on the side of the tub when I checked my CP. Since today is my first day checking it, I don't really know what my norm is, so maybe I just need to do it for a month to find out?

  • @JackieMarie1989 I check my CP the first day AF was done when it should be in the low position.  Based on that, I can infer what my medium and high positions will be.

  • @JackieMarie1989 My temp never drops until after AF has started. My CD1 temp is always well above my coverline so I don't get a warning, and often CD2, while lower than my TWW temps, isn't back to "normal" WTO temps either. I've googled and that pattern seems to be common though not as common as an early drop. Plus, lots of ladies on here have bizarre, seemingly random temps during AF. Nothing to stress about I think.

@ahrains Thanks girl <3 Tonight it may be night cheese, inspired by your gif! (And I totally hear you on loving temping -- it soothes my Type A/must know everything/must collect and manipulate data personality)

@kyersten If you have a 10-12 LP and 31-33 day cycle, you probably don't O until CD 18-21, so you wouldn't be out! How much did your temp rise? Are you checking CM? Wanna share your chart?

This is my first cycle charting temps and second trying OPKs. first time mobile sharing a pic so I apologize if this screenshot is huge. Any chart stalking is hugely appreciated!

  • @kyersten If CD 14 was a higher temp, I'd say maybe. But I don't think you're there yet! Keep DTD. As for CM, I don't get a lot of EWCM, but it's there when I wipe when I O and I don't have to look for it. CM and OPK and temping together usually give me an easy answer.

  • @kyersten I agree with @NYTino24. And for EWCM, I don't check internally because around O (at least three days before and often a day or two afterward) I get lubricative feeling and obvious watery/EWCM when I wipe. Honestly, I think the main thing is getting to know what your body does. If you notice when wiping, you may not need to check internally; if you don't, you might want to learn how to do it. (For instance, I never get creamy -- just sticky to watery to EWCM -- when wiping. That's enough for me to signal when to start OPKs. If I were checking internally, maybe I'd notice creamy too, but what I have now is enough for me.)

    WAYDTGKU: CM OPK, sex

R/R: Today is my long day at work :( But tomorrow is my last day of work before a four day weekend.

CS/Q: So I've been pretty unsuccessful with OPK. I tried using them when I first started TTC, and never got a positive, I thought maybe it was because I was just coming off birth control.  I stopped using them because it was emotionally hard to never get a positive.  I started using them again this cycle, but didn't get a positive.  Am I using them wrong? How long am I supposed to hold my urine before going?  What time of day?  I think I am ovulating today due to my CM, but I'm confused.  I really start start doing my BBT, but always forget to get a thermometer from the store.  Any help or direction would be appreciated.

GTKY: Are you a morning or night person? What about your significant other? I'm a morning person for sure.  I typically get up at 5:00am to work out before work.  Hubby is definitely a night person, which is hard because he tries to keep me up at night and then I only get 6 hours of sleep!
  • @Jenshoes Do you normally have long cycles? The chart below is a good indicator of when you should start taking OPK's in your cycle. If you have long cycles, starting out too early can be a pain as you'll just keep getting negatives/disappointment.  Once you establish WHEN you should start taking them, you can start planning on what time of day.  But let me preface this by saying, some women just don't turn OPK's completely positive. Some women may have multiple surges and turn them multiples times. That's why using a second method such as temping or in your case checking CM, is a good way to back things up.  SMU seems to be a good place to start in the day. LH builds throughout the day so if you are  taking them with FMU you may be missing your surge. Some women have really fast surges, and therefore take multiple OPK's a day. I would suggest starting out by taking it with SMU and then maybe again after a few hour hold later in the evening 4-6. You can get a crap load of OPK's for cheap here: https://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Step-Ovulation-Strips-50-Count/dp/B004IJHDN6/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1472664887&sr=8-2&keywords=wondfo+opk

Image result for when to start taking opk
  • @Jenshoes You're not alone.  I have never turned an OPK and I'm still trying to figure out if its because my timing is off, I'm missing the surge or maybe I just don't get positives.

  • Thanks for all the well wishes! Update: H actually went home sick from work today, so I rescheduled his SA for next week. I feel bad for the guy; he's never sick, but I can tell he feels really icky. FX he gets better quickly because we have friends visiting this weekend!

@ahrains Thanks girl! I've been in and out and on the TTTC board some. I just haven't felt like I've had much to post about lately, and life gets busy, ya know?! :)

@adirat Stalk away! But I'm not even really sure it's worth it. I tend to O late, so I took a two-week break from temping at the beginning of this cycle. I've also gotten a couple of high readings on the CBAD OPKs the last two days that I haven't logged. I'm not sure whether those would help or hurt. If my temp stays up tomorrow, I get CHs for CD 19, but I'm just not sure I agree. Sorry it's going to be huge because I'm mobile today.

  • mrsdaddario thank you! I have a relatively "normal" cycle length, between 28-30 days, and I typically start  testing around day 12.  Thanks for the help regarding when to take it... some of this stuff can be confusing! My SIL takes the OPK and has no problem getting a positive, so she is no help in this area.

laurad75  Frustrating right? Glad to know I'm not alone.  I guess I'll start doing multiple a day and go from there. When I mentioned it to by OBGYN, he did not seem alarmed, said he felt I was ovulating anyways, and said the only way to know FOR SURE if I was ovulating was to do multiple ultrasounds every day starting on day 12ish.  I don't have the time or money for that.

wabash15 Thank you.  I've only tried on brand, but I guess I might have to venture out and try another brand.  I buy everything off of amazon, so I'm not sure why I didn't think to buy the BBT on there.  Thanks for recommendation & support
  • mrsegan13 Thank you!  I think I might be testing too early... I think the latest I've tested is 1:30pm, so maybe I'll try two tests a day and see how that goes.

Hi all, I'm new! (well at least since a few years ago)  Here trying for a sibling for DS who is 2 now.

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD: 15 (I think)

WAYDTGKU: not temping, as child #1 still wakes me up at night; for now just trying for frequent sex in FW, checking cm; may start OPKs in the future if things take a while

R/R: I don't think I've ovulated yet based on CM and other symptoms but I can't be sure.  We literally just agreed to try for a 2nd yesterday so I'm hoping we still have a chance this cycle.

    CS/Q: none at this time

GTKY: Are you a morning or night person? What about your significant other?
I used to be a morning person (with caffeine, of course), but with how my son sleeps I've been forced to adapt to a late night lifestyle.  Husband is def a night owl - that's when he's most productive.  Really, I just really love sleep when I can get it.

  • @achays11I'm probably not qualified to answer this since I am new-ish here too but personally my plan is to move over after my EWCM disappears and about 12-14 days before my expected AF. It's a crapshoot since I guess I don't know for sure that I Oed, but without temping, I think its as good of an estimate as I'll get!
  • @achays11, you could move over when your cervix becomes low, firm, and closed again. That is another sign that ovulation has occurred in addition to the drying up of CM.

@lulu1180, I'm not really tracking CM, however TMI, I have gotten some EWCM when I wipe the last few days. It usually happens for a few days before O. MH and I are just HIO ED in hopes that something happens this month.
  • @achays11 You'll find that there's really no such thing as TMI among these ladies!

  • @BertieMeetsGertie That bag is adorable! I love Kate Spade, I have a shop right by my office and I have a problem with "just looking" on my lunch breaks...

@slavenski I'm on my first month using OPK's. I have a 28 day cycle, and started testing on day 10. Package advised day 12 based on my cycle length.

@berg My DH husband and I used to have the exact same problem, completely opposite sleep schedules it was awful on Friday nights. I always felt guilty falling halfway asleep on our date night.

@Jenshoes I have no advice on the OPK's except to say that I am having similar problems, see below. I feel for you, it's frustrating.

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD: 13

    WAYDTGKU: OPK's, vitamins, CM

R/R: Already getting worked up over negative OPK's. CD 11 used a Wondfo in the PM that appeared really close to positive, but not quite, and ever since then tests have been clearly negative. I've been using them once in AM once in PM, and will probably keep trying for a day or two more. Feeling comforted by the conversations that took place here earlier today, but I've been trying to turn an OPK for 3 months (2 months while we were still preventing to practice peeing on things). Still have yet to see a definitely positive test ever, or any EWCM.

Plan on temping next month so I have something more accurate to work with.

CS/Q: My questions were already answered earlier today, thanks ladies.

GTKY: Are you a morning or night person? What about your significant other?

I'm a morning person for sure. I get up really early to commute for work, and on the weekends it's hard for me to sleep in very late. But it's nice to have that down time to make some coffee and read in my pj's on Saturday morning while DH sleeps in.
  • Haha so it's Thursday am in Korea and last night when I did my TWW post I made a note of all my replies on my computer, did my post, and never added my replies. Got on my computer this morning and saw they were still on my sticky note on my desktop so here's a bunch of late replies lol

@leekat14 I love planners. I was super into them when  I was in school. Now I'm trying out bullet journaling but I'm not artistic lol.

@EEL0824 I had Skyla IUD but had AF for the 2 years I had it in so I'm no real help. I was on depo shot which stopped AF before my IUD and it took a while for it to come back. I think a light AF is normal and it will take time for your body to regulate.

@BertieMeetsGertie I've wanted either  Kate Spade or Michael Kors bag forever. A few Christmases ago my mom bought me a MK bag that she got "on sale online". It was a total fake and was ruined within months (shit quality). Obviously not her fault, she thought it was real. I didn't tell her about it until a few weeks ago actually when I mentioned I wanted one and she asked what happened to the one she got me lol

@GrabberBlue2010 HOT DOG HOLDER!!! That's amazing. I love it. Anyway, CP is weird for me too and probably gave me the wrong O date last cycle anyway because I thought I Od on CD14 and had a 31 day cycle. There's no way I had a 17 day LP.

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    CD: 1

WAYDTGKU: Waiting for AF to go away

R/R: I have Friday and Monday off so tomorrow is technically the Friday of my 4 day weekend!

    CS/Q: No

GTKY: Are you a morning or night person? What about your significant other?
Morning! I love getting things done in the morning and feeling well rested. I usually go to bed by 9:00 and am usually asleep by 10:00 at night.
