  • The cold that has taken up residence in my chest is a huge TW.  I miss nyquil.

  • So at work I always seem to get overshadowed by my more senior co-workers and as a result it's kind of made me hate my job. Well last week was actually awesome b/c the 2 co-workers who are senior to me were both out so when there was an issue it fell on me to work on it and try to resolve it. I've done a ton of work on it and today my one senior co-worker is back and the first thing he does is basically try and take over all the work I've done and take the project from me. I feel like this happens every time and I'm so sick of it. If I don't get credit for this I"m going to be pissed.

  • The cross country team that just came within inches of mowing me down at top speed around a blind corner on my morning walk are TWs. I sent their coach a super duper polite email asking them to be more careful around corners and now feel extremely old. My heart is still in my throat it scared me so badly.
  • @marriedhamstermom That is extremely frustrating. Do you have to give them the project if you've already got it under control?

Mine today is me. I keep having these TERRIBLE nightmares, and they are so vivid. It ranges from the weird, to terrifying.

A few nights ago I dreamed someone broke into our house and tried to murder us with a 6 foot long samurai sword. Twice I've had nightmares that I woke up bleeding  (The moment of terror on waking up... ugh). I even had a really strange dream that my family was vacationing in Canada for some reason, and DH decided to just disappear and never come back. Basically, I'm over the super vivid pregnancy nightmares.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @WinchesterGirl Same here! I've had 2 really weird/bad dreams in the last week. One was that our best friends, a husband and wife, both died and left us their house and their 1yo and we were trying to figure out what to do. So not cool! The other was awful; I dreamed I had a gash in my stomach and it wasn't bleeding but was really bad. I'm so done with these dreams!

  • @WinchesterGirl it really is! I hope for both of us and any other ladies that they calm the f down!

  • @WinchesterGirl I'm trying to hold onto it still but if it's like it is historically they just start attending any meeting on the project and cut me off with their ideas and then everyone just starts asking them about it not me because "they have more experience in the industry" and before I know it I loose the project. I'm not great at being confrontational but idk I might have to be this time.

  • @marriedhamstermom Do you have a manager that you could talk to? You might be able to just tell them that you're feeling very confident with the work you've put in, and would like to continue taking point for the experience.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @Gretchypoo yea I work with mostly men so that probably is part of the issue and I'm not the best at being assertive but I think I'm going to have to try harder. If it doesn't work then I think I might have to talk to my manager like @WinchesterGirl suggestion. He's been at a lot of the meetings I've had so if he had a problem with how I'm handling it currently I feel like he would have told me.

  • My TW is whoever the eff did this expense estimate for our procedures we do in house. Almost every item is off by a pretty good amount, I am shocked. I know when I turn it in its going to be a big to do and it might cause an uproar because our price is essentially going to be doubled. Sigh.

  • My school's early ass morning start time is my Twatwaffle. I have been on sabbatical for the last year, so I'm really not prepared for being up and ready to teach at 8:10 am starting next Tuesday. I've started early wake-ups to prepare my body. Today was the first day my alarm has gone off before 8 am in a year. This pregnant lady is not amused.

(PS I know so many people wake up early; I'm just complaining about the change. I also know that come January, the idea of sleeping through the night to wake up to a 6:15 alarm clock will seem lovely and indulgent. But whatever, mornings have never been my strong suit)
  • Mine today are H's bosses. On Sunday H sprung on me that next week he's going to be doing an over night job out of town. No big deal, right? Except that I leave for work before him and DD are even up and he's the one that drops her at daycare! It wouldn't be such a big deal except that his bosses (one of which is his own freaking father!!) won't tell him definite days/night, so I can't request it off... The time off calendar if pretty booked as it is, so I'm really hoping it magically is a day that isn't full or that if I explain to my boss and maybe she pity me and let me have to day off even if it's full.

@MLRocha I hope you feel better soon!!

@WinchesterGirl Same here.  In fact, just last night I had a dream that I was bleeding.  Woke up freaked out.

@marriedhamstermom This is exactly what I dealt with at my previous previous job that I ended up quitting in March.  My manager was someone I went to college with and we had the same qualifications and experience.  But she never let me take ownership of any of the projects I worked on. I tried so hard for an entire year to get her to give me autonomy.  I even went to our CEO.  But nothing changed.  And that's when I finally quit.  I couldn't take it anymore.  I was underpaid, doing the job of 2.5 people, and wasn't even getting the credit for my work.   Ughhhh it still makes me so mad!

    Edit: because spelling

  • @AfKash I'm sorry you had to deal with this too, it is so frustrating. I would have quit a long time ago but it would require relocating and well there's a whole bunch of reason's why DH and I decided that isn't right for us now. It's been a big factor in me considering to be a SAHM for at least a few years and I might take classes and change fields. Part of it is sad b/c I realized last week when I was actually working on important things that I do like what I do it's just never getting high priority projects or always getting overshadowed with them that has made me dislike my job. But the other part of me is kind of excited for a change over the next few years so it will be a good thing in the end!

  • I have also been having weird dreams. Some are scary/intense. The latest was that aggressive dinosaurs were taking over the world and eating everyone, so I had to protect my family and daughter from them getting into our treehouse and killing them. It was like Jurassic Park when those raptors go after the kids in that kitchen area....but worse. So weird.
Something else I noticed in my dreams....even the ones that aren't bad or scary, I am always aware that I am pregnant, and the ones where I am not pregnant, I have a child. None of my dreams have been without motherhood...and I am a FTM. Pretty amazing how the body connects to the unconscious mind.
But as far as these weird ad scary dreams...what the heck. Another one I had...I was getting a c section, but after being cut open and the Dr removing my babies, they just left me like that and I got up and was walking around with my body still open. That was gross and scary and freaky. Again, what the heck!
  • Jimmy Johns is my TW today. They have delivered to my office for the last year but now, they don't. >:( I just want a sandwich for lunch and don't want to go out in the heat. Is that too much to ask? My office is on the same road and less than 5 miles. Why, all of a sudden, is it too far?!???

  • I've heard that our dreams are always this crazy, it's just that we're waking up so much more in the night that we actually remember all them, instead of sleeping through and having them fade into the background. Though I don't know; I know when I take melatonin, my dreams are much more vivid. I think it makes sense that with all the extra hormones flooding our system, our dreams would be extra crazy. Maybe it's a combo of both?

@Ryder0406 is it possible just to take a few hours off in the morning instead of taking the full day off?
  • My TW is the triceratops that attacked me on Sunday. My son has a really cool sturdy triceratops that I somehow always manage to step on. Usually, it just pisses me off. Sunday, it went into my foot. I am still having a hard time walking on it.

It's all I can do not to bite anyone who comments on my body. I've always been really skinny, but never unhealthy, and always a big eater. Now that everyone knows I'm KU, I get "you do NOT look pregnant!" (tell that to my digestive system) and "you're gonna have a teeny tiny baby!" (unlikely; I was 9.1 and DH was 8.9) and "You MUST have this cupcake! You're eating for two!" (I'm also allergic to gluten). UGH people.

I hate this.  My SIL tried to tell me my gluten allergy was just a sensitivity to preservatives in some flour (which she has, so she can't eat store bought bread).  And I just wanted to hit her and say "It's a nice theory, but did you know eating gluten when you have a gluten allergy can sometimes lead to recurrent miscarriages or infertility?"

  • @MrsDramaK YUP. The last time someone questioned my GFness I lifted up my sleeve and showed her the pangea-like hives covering my arm because the croutons on my salad had simply been removed instead of just not put on it.

  • I mentioned my tw in the sunday ticker change but hes as bad today so he gets a rant today too....
one of the engineers that i work with (male, early 20s) came in on friday and declared he has the shingles. He knew that there was a danger to me as he came over and sat beside me to specifically asked had i had chicken pox before. I freaked out a bit & he made out that it wasnt a big deal and he didnt want anyone to know. I have had chicken pox before but he didnt know that & should have phoned in to check first (2 of the other engineers also have pregnant wives aswell). Both my boss & the office manager had a go at him about it & hes making out like im a drama queen making a big deal over nothing!
I was off yesterday & today he has sat pouting like a child all day & wont speak to me!
  • DD1 was up about every 20-30 minutes last night. She is congested and kept crying because she couldn't breathe. I tried to lay in her crib to help prop her head up and she told me to get out. I'm so tired and I have a huge list of things to do. We drive back to California tomorrow and it's just shitty timing with everything.

  • One of my boss' is being an utter TW this week.

I'm an admin assistant - it's my job to keep track of things like where your interrupt threshold is and to know who you want to talk to and who I should blockade. If you'd like to be interrupted less, let me know. If you've stopped being excited about that vendor - tell me. Don't ask me why I'm not following some protocol you made up in your head and didn't tell anyone about. I understand that you lose your place in sudoku when I ask you time-critical questions.

Also, please don't fall asleep in meetings and then complain that you don't know what was said.
  • @yogadevil in theory, yes. But I have time I need to take anyway or I'll lose it. He text me like an hour ago and said Friday, which is the one absolutely full day... Luckily, his boss stopped being a twatwaffle and said Wed-Thurs would work, so we're good to go!

  • @joyful08 wtf? Who the F says that? Your "gut?" I'm sure she doesn't even mean anything by it, but it just sounds gross. I don't blame you for feeling weird about her calling it that. I would probably turn it into a joke if she keeps saying it, like "eww stop calling it my gut, that makes it sound like something nasty!" And then laugh. That way you can point it out to her in a lighthearted way without making her feel bad for saying it.

I was so thrown off guard I was speechless. Who says that let alone to a pregnant woman. She is DH's coworker. He told me later that day when I brought up how upset that made me that she had said earlier to him how she "couldn't wait to see my gut today". I'm just baffled.
