  • @longliveregina  C U ... and then just the first letters of Next and Tuesday.
  • @AverageAsh I know I know, we should probably be pacing the drama llama. But then I think, YOLO!

@kjd291 I find it funny that as I'm typing out what a certain cryptic message means, you're telling us that story. I feel like there's a connection between the two.

Along the same lines of reveal party with more gifts... UO I think baby showers for your second, third kid etc ((Especially if it's the same gender)) are crazy.  I get having a sprinkle with diapers, or if it's a diffent gender-but I hate going to my friends parties and feeling like--you already have all this same crap!! Why are we spending more money on you?
Dare we start discussing who is supposed to throw the baby shower? i.e. the expectant mother or anyone except the expectant mother?

ETA - or too soon?
Ughhh!! YES. I know a girl who was throwing herself one... Made a FB invite, and posted a few weeks before the shower about how she was checking the registry and not enough people had purchased items from it yet. Where is the class...are people really this clueless these days about etiquette?
    Stop. This is the worst.

So you are judgmental about the party but still attend?
  • @CanadianintheSouth I think it's just a  neat way to share the news, most of the time gifts aren't given so it's different than a shower to me.

Or when your work throws you a baby shower when politely you asked them not to? Awkward....

Jumping in: Lol, I would totally attend and buy a gift but complain about it to my husband and internet strangers.

  • I guess I would be in the minority and rather just have my friends either tell me what they really think or just not come instead of talking bad about it

Lol it doesn't count if it's talking bad to your husband...that's just like thinking out loud to yourself.

I wouldn't want to risk a friendship just because I felt out out by something as silly as buying a gift, so I definitely wouldnt call her out. But I can't help feeling my feelings!

  • @longliveregina I agree. Husband doesn't count. I personally wouldn't be offended if someone didn't bring a gift or didn't attend unless it was a close friend. And I would think a close friend would be able to tell me her opinion about it.

guilty!!  if it was a close friend I would have stepped in first wind of it and said : "woah, woah, woah-no way you're throwing yourself a shower crazy lady!  -who do I talk to in your family//or I'm throwing you one on my own." Etc.  This was an old family friend who I barely ever talked to. I wanted to not attend, but my mom was going, and some high school friends I hadn't seen in forever and felt obligated.
  • Dang, the above dialogue is probably the nicest exchange I've ever seen concerning judgment of baby showers. And here I was thinking we might have found this week's titular UO! ::moves to kick a trash can but ends up cuddling a teddy bear instead::
Right!? Love hate relationship with that about this BMB ;). ((Although I will say that I got my full daily dose of drama today with the April shiz))

  • @ladyoriza
I'm the same way. I don't get bothered by vulgar words and I swear like a sailor
  • @kjd291 Ha! DH asked me last night if April Ludgate was my spirit animal. I think my immediate grin to seeing your gif just confirmed this. I have no shame in admitting enjoyment of watching drama play out but will immediately shrink back/freeze up when I'm pulled into it - just like April.
  • DH wanted a small reveal party with close friends. No gifts just like a get together or something. For me i think it's really intimate. I want to go out to dinner open the envelope over my pretend wine.... And just be romantic? Lol... Maybe this is a FTM thing.... I'll be so emo I don't want to share my gender reveal with anyone till I can process it!

UO: food commercials gross me out

    Haha! That's awesome :)  she's definitely thebomb.com
  • My UO: I don't like unisex names. It'd be nice to know if the kid is a boy or girl without having to ask

I'm not a huge fan either! And since I love all things fall DH is constantly irking me saying "oh I saw pumpkin spice cheerios today!" or "oh yaaa only a few more weeks til pumpkin spice!" and I'm like NO! I love ALL other things fall lol. He thinks he's hilarious though...
  • I threw myself a shower with DD, well technically my mom did but I planned it, and organized it because all my friends were communicating through facebook and she doesn't even know how to text. It was in my hometown where all my friends live still and I'm a control freak lol. My friends keep asking if I'm having one this time, it will be 6 years since the last baby and especially if it's a boy but I'm like nahhh driving 5 hours and hanging was cute when I was 22 but I just don't have that much free time now, my husband hates going there and he would only stay for 2 days, even if someone else threw it for me it looks shitty to drive up there get all the gifts then drive back home.  I have a few friends where we live but not enough to have a party.  I love planning parties though, so I wish someone else would get pregnant and I could throw THEM one.
