Today at L&D they checked my cervix and man alive it hurt WAY more than it does when my OB checks it. But baby boy did great on the NST they ran while I was there, doctor was very impressed. Even though I wasn't in labor I found out that I'm 2cm dilated, about 40% effaced and baby is at -2 position so labor could be soon!
@marajay6 and @pdxmamatobe Thanks for backing me on my frustrations from today! I definitely left the appointment disappointed...but also trying to keep a positive mindframe. These days are already dragging so slowly, I know dwelling will only make it that much worse! I made sure to schedule my next appointment with my doctor...but that won't be until next week at 39w6d and I'd be lying if I said I didn't really, really, really hope I don't make it to that appointment!
37 week appt today - managed to show up at the proper time and everything! I see three midwives on a team who rotate, and this one is my favourite, but I was really surprised when we left that hubby said "I hope she delivers our baby." He's really easy going and seldom has opinions on these things!
Belly measuring ahead (40 cm), low blood pressure, baby's head is in my pelvis... Baby's heart rate was 150, as opposed to last week's 129. And we brought home our homebirth kit, as it can now happen any time! Makes it rather real... They didn't have my gbs results, so next week we will find out if I need the antibiotics, but we did discuss all the immediate postpartum questions this time (vit k, oxytocin shot - yes, yes; erythromycin - no, as we are both allergic!).
Had my 37 week appointment today. Found out I'm GBS negative. I asked the OB when he would induce if I went over, just so I have an end date in mind. Because we have a 2 vessel cord, he said he might let me go to my due date but not past it! That was exciting news! So officially 20 day count down. I have a NST next week, first one ever, then appointment with him and he will check dilation.
@JennM205 Such mixed information would make me very frustrated as well. I recall that in my prenatal class the nurse said that cervical checks are very subjective and not super reliable, in her opinion, as every hand size is different.
I can't remember who said it first but someone on here recently mentioned late pregnancy as a total mind f#ck and I think they were right! Every day is a new challenge.
I had my appointment yesterday at 35+1. She did my strep b swap and then went to check my cervix. She couldn't feel what she needed to so she sent me in for an ultrasound. We found out I have too much amniotic fluid. So it's weekly ultrasounds for me from here til the end. I don't have diabetes and they don't see any abnormalities with the baby so they aren't sure why the fluid is higher than it should be.
Had my rescheduled appt today after some BP drama at the hospital yesterday. BP is in normal range, GBS swab was negative, she's not overly concerned about the BP, wants me to get blood work on Tuesday with my BPP and she'll see me then. I'm really happy that she didn't jump the gun and schedule an induction because baby boy is super happy in there and I would like a baby as close to term as I can get.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
Had my 38 weeks appointment on Monday. At 36 weeks I wasn't dilated but was softened and at 38 weeks I was 2-3 cm and 70% effaced. About the same when I was 38 weeks with my first one. If hurt so bad this time. Haha So Hopefully this baby come soon but I'm not expecting to go into labor early, hopefully just not late.
I said it last week and I'll say it again - I don't know why I love reading about other peoples appointments so much but this is probably my favourite thread
Had my 37 week appointment today. It was pretty much the normal pee in a cup, check BP, listen to the heart rate with the doppler and check fundal height. The doctor did spend some extra time feeling the position of the baby and it is a good position for labor. Next appointment in a week.
NST today at 35+2. Also had a cervical check and gbs stab. I'm 1 cm and soft, so at least that's something! We will plan to induce at 37 weeks if I make it until then. I'm hoping these kids hold on until at least 36, which is Tuesday. We also discussed PPD and pp birth control. He doesn't recommend IUDs until the first pp period, because of the risk of uterine perforation before that (this could be specific to me because of twins) so I will go on the mini pill at my 6 week appt and then have the paragard iud placed when I'm able to.
Today's appointment 36w3d's NST looked good no contractions. Weight, heartbeat and measurements looked normal. gbs stab, Lo is still breech decided to give her time to flip. If She doesn't flip, sheduled c section.
Nothing new this week. Still won't take baby any sooner despite being almost 3 weeks ahead in size. I refuse checks this week unless she could make sure it would make baby come sooner..... Her response have lots and lots of sex with lots of O's. Please that's the last thing on my mind these days
JennM205 I had the same thing where my OB told me 1cm and another OB told me 0cm a week later. I asked my OB about it when she got back and she said you are 1cm on the outside, but a 0 on the inside. Maybe similar for you? I didn't know that they sometimes give inner and outer measurements, it was bizarre to me. I would lose my mind if my OB said "hey, your baby's coming in 2 days", and then later, "jk, 3 more weeks"...I would call and talk or see your real OB for sure.
Had my 39 week appointment today, I am dilated to 2cm, lost my mucus plug but cervix is still really high, for what it's worth. She will strip my membranes if I am still baby-less at 40 weeks next Friday. Something weird happened right at the end of my appointment - I got to check out and the nurse said "ok, so you are getting an ultrasound next week?" and I looked confused because we hadn't discussed that. Then my OB comes running up to me (literally running down the hallway I guess to catch me?) and tells me she didn't realize my last growth US was at 32 weeks, and so she wants to do one next week. I'm sure it's nothing, but the combination of "I didn't realize" plus the running freaked me out a lot.
I had a 20 week anatomy scan, and the 32 week growth scan, and that's it. 40 weeks next week. Have others had more scans?
@nativetexan512 I think others have had more for various reasons, but I didn't get a growth scan and won't be getting any others before birth. Is there a particular reason you are getting them done? (High/low fluid, baby measures way ahead/behind, etc)
@nativetexan512 Like @jabreen said, others (including myself) have had more scans but for various reasons. Maybe it's routine for them to check position of baby, fluid levels, engagement or something if you don't have any other reason to get one?
Just got back from my 38 week appointment, nothing new since Wednesday, my OB really wants me to go into labor sometime between now and next Friday. I'm trying real hard to hold out for that wedding next Saturday lol. I'm still only 2cm dilated so she kinda "stretched" it out a bit- good golly that hurt. In a perfect world I will go into labor on my own after 9/3 but before 9/9 (my scheduled induction on my due date)

I had a 35-week growth scan where she measured 39 weeks and I was 2cm dilated. They scheduled another growth scan for 38 weeks. So it doesn't seem unusual to have an additional scan!
Had my 38 week appointment yesterday. His heart rate and measurements were great, my BP was great, swelling is way down in my ankles from wearing compression socks (lost 3 pounds since last week), cervix is maybe a 1cm but I think she was being kind.. way up high, nothing going on. She verified that he's still head down but his head is not engaged, so not quite ready yet! Cook on, little monster!
Had my 37 week appointment today. My BP was elevated, not extreme, but higher than what they like and higher than my "normal" so they did an NST and some labs to check for pre-eclampsia. Baby passed the NST with flying colors. I haven't had any other pre-e symptoms so it should be ok. But I had the same thing when I was pregnant with my son. Given my history they have decided to set an induction date for 39 weeks...2 weeks from today 9/9/16. I'm 1-2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Very similar to this time with my son and I had a relatively quick and easy delivery at 38 weeks (less than 5 hours total from start of induction to baby out). I'm praying this one goes the same. Other than BP, everything else for me and baby looks great!
Had my 36 week appointment today. Did the standard urine sample, BP, weight checks. Baby's heart rate sounded good and I'm measuring 36 weeks exactly. Did the GBS swab too. No cervical check- Doctor didn't offer and I figured it would be weird to ask lol. Guessing those will start at my 37 week appointment.
Random- After I put my urine sample in the case thing they in the bathroom the tech immediately took it out on the other side. We obviously didn't see each other, but for some reason it made me feel really awkward.
@pinkspartan15 Mine beat me to the punch last time! I heard the door open on her side after I had finished peeing, but I hadn't written my name on the cup or put it in the box yet...I guess the door is not very sound proof and she figured since I had already flushed...
Second NST of the week today and we passed...but it took an hour. Had to drink some ice water to wake baby girl up and then she went nuts! So glad we only have three left before our c-section date. BP is mildly elevated, but urine is okay and no real swelling, so we roll along. So ready for 9/7!
Had my 38 week appt yesterday, and everything checked out great. Baby is good and head down, but not engaged really. I'm already 3cm and 50% effaced! I know it means nothing, though, as I was walking around at around the same dilation for a couple weeks with my first and ended up going to 41 weeks with an induction. Still feels good to see progress!

Hang in there mama! You're almost there!
