  • @ADRIANAC1982 that is a great attitude to have! I was freaking out about my u/s the other day, and one girl told me that every morning she says "I'm pregnant today, and I love my baby!". I thought that was awesome... so whenever I start to feel the snowballing of worry, I stop and repeat that little phrase. It has kept me sane these past few days! Hope it will help you too! GL on Friday... I know it will be good news!

  • @ADRIANAC1982 i agree that 400 was high to start! So keep your thoughts postive! It sounds like a good start. There was only 48 hours Inbetween betas; sometimes it can take up to 72 hours for it to fully double--- and it's not an exact science; it ranges! Don't google and don't stress! Thinking of you

  •  Wow the board has been very active today. I didn't get to check it at all today since I'm back to work.

@sleepyrn  today I had some minor cramping. I'm praying that it was from implantation. The  RE said implantation would occur today or tomorrow so I really really hope that's what it was.

@ADRIANAC1982 sorry you're in such a worrisome place. I love your attitude though.  Praying you get good news Friday.

  • Thanks everybody for all the well wishes, we are over the moon about this news! It's funny because I've really only been drawn to multiples discussions, articles about twins, had dreams about twins...except the one where I saw three squirrels running back and forth on the ultrasound screen (weird)...but I guess I had a feeling :-) now I just hope they keep growing and settle in for a good 31-33 more weeks!

@ADRIANAC1982 - I agree with @babylonghorn16, all we can do at this stage is trust, pray, be optimistic that we are pregnant today and we love our babies, and enjoy it for what it is, and try to push away all those worries and doubts. I sooo hope you get good news at your next appointment!

@Colleen0516 - it's mostly in my signature...but transferred 2 5AB hatching blasts, got the faintest line the night of 6dpt, got darker each day, first beta was 250 at 9dpt, and second was 572 at 11dpt.

They checked my estradiol today and was 798, so I start weaning estrace tomorrow and am off by Monday (they start weaning once they see a heartbeat at my RE office). And said they don't even monitor progesterone, I just stay on it until 10 weeks (endometrin vaginally 3x/day and PIO 1ml every other day). So crazy how different they all do this stuff.

Maybe I should ask this question as its own discussion- but I'll try here first.  Has anyone ever had an FET fail from a PGS tested embryo? I'm curious on the stats on PGS tested embryo success, the data I have found is a bit confusing.

  • @APM_SLP while I was lucky to get PG both times with my PGS tested embies, I see just as often that women don't get their BFP's even after testing. Having said that and not knowing the statistic, but If they say that most MC'es happen because of the chromosomal abnormalities, getting that out of the equation should increase your chances. Check out this forum, you might find more answers. https://www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/pgd-pgs-discussions/

  • @Colleen0516 I'm not looking forward to it, picked them up today, they cost $180!! it would be so much cheaper if my ovaries just cooperated..

@APM_SLP sorry not sure about the stats, I guess there's still a load of external factors that could affect it so it wouldn't be 100% success rate. However, I feel like I've heard that FETs are often more successful than fresh, plus if they've been tested the chances of them continuing their growth in your uterus would be a lot higher, surely?

@Happydays13 it's crazy all the different protocols, but I guess we're all different and require different protocols to fall pregnant. I'm not having estrogen monitored, nor am I on any patches etc for it. I love that you've had dreams about twins!

  • @APM_SLP
    ----tw loss/pregnancy mentioned----
My RE told me "off the record" that she gave me an 85% chance of a live birth with IVF/PGS. She attributed this to my having previously carried a child to birth and having two naturally occurring pregnancies even though one ended in miscarriage. It was how she convinced us to move forward with PGS. She believes it will be the standard of care in years to come. That said, I live in a state with mandatory infertility coverage and have full coverage, so spending the money for PGS wasn't too crazy for us. I hate that it can be another added expense on top of an overly prohibitively expensive infertility experience.
  • @APM_SLP. This is by far an answer to your question, because I don't think I have seen great data about strictly PGS embryos yet.  But how my re explains it, PGS testing levels the playing field when you have some kind of egg issue.  Since I am older or if I had a know hereditary issue,  I would either have to transfer up to 4 eggs and risk multiples or go through multiple cycles/miscarriages to find the winner.  PGS takes that guesswork  out.  I can transfer 1 and have the same rate as anyone else to get pregnant. That's why they rec it for older or multiple fails.  But I am not sure it is really so much better in overall rates.

I think it lends to higher implant rates because it's tested and generally has survived to five days etc...so it is already one tough emby.  I gave scoured the net looking for legit tests with rates of pgs and found really limited stuff.

  • @happydays13 congratulations! TWINS! That is so exciting!!

@teriulbricht yay for an increasing beta! I've never even heard of pessaries, they sound interesting! FX that they do the trick to keep your progesterone where it needs to be!

AFM - I just realized my beta will be scheduled for the week just before I go home for a visit, it will either be awesome to share the news with my parents (they know what we are going through and DH and I decided we would tell them right away but wait with everyone else if it's positive) or will be a nice distraction if it's not good news. I'm also fully expecting my transfer to be pushed back due to lining issues so FX that I won't have to wait to test until after the trip! DH and I are going into this cycle with the mindset of "whatever happens, happens" - not doing acupuncture, going to worry about eating pineapple core, etc. He's hoping this will keep me less stressed but I've told him easier said than done!

I've already emailed my nurse to confirm and am waiting to hear back but for those of you on estrogen patches, you change them at the same time every 2-3 days, depending on what your schedule is, correct? Any tips/tricks with them? I've heard the skin can get irritated after awhile from the adhesive but are they ok to shower with? Think I can go swimming with them on?

  • @mtpbadger I've done the patches on multiple cycles. I just change mine every 2 days when I get ready for work (or when I wake up on a weekend). Yes, you can shower with them on, but I'm not sure about swimming. Mine only get itchy the night before I change it and I have reside all over my belly so it looks like I've had band aids all over! : )  I've heard of women having reactions, but other than minor itching they don't bother me.
  • @mtpbadger I change mine at the same time every 3rd day. I swim in the ocean just about daily and was told it was no issue. I've had no irritation or anything from it either.
  • Thanks @kyrgyzshan and @bornready! I'm hoping my lining does better with the patches than it did with the del estrogen injections....FX crossed!

  • @mtpbadger I sometimes put a little bit of silk tape over my patches (I was on 4 at one point and wanted to make sure they stayed on during showers) and haven't had any issues.  Like others have said I do move mine around and remove the adhesive because the area starts to itch right before and after you take them off.

  • Thank you so much ladies! I always get a little nervous/anxious before starting something new but you all have put my mind at ease! @sleepyrn I start with 2 EOD and will increase to 4 the week of transfer.
  • do people prefer the e-patches over oral estrace? i know with progesterone there's not really a winner between the suppositories and PIO - but is it different with estrogen?
  • Wow this board has been so active in the last 24 hours since I last checked!

@ADRIANAC1982 Thinking of you, girl, and hoping it is nothing to worry about.  You have the right attitude.  I feel like the serenity prayer works so well for IF, as we must accept the things we cannot control (which includes just about EVERYTHING we go through in IVF).  I hope you find peace the next 2 days until beta!

@Happydays13 YAY, congrats!!!!  That picture of your little twins is amazing.  I hope they continue to grow and thrive in their new home for the next 9 months!!

@APM_SLP The stats for PGS tested embryos is definitely better, since the number 1 cause of miscarriage is chromosomal abnormalities.  If a pregnancy fails from a PGS tested embryo it is due to some other factor, likely related to the girl's hormone levels/health (i.e., thin lining, low progesterone, autoimmune issues, trauma, etc).  My RE has the same mindset as @BornReady and recommends PGS testing as standard practice regardless of female age.  The cost is a lot to swallow though, but even for us (having NO IVF coverage whatsoever), we were like "well we're already paying all this money for IVF anyway, might as well pay an extra couple grand to increase our chances."

  • @caseyw8784 I'll be on the patches plus estrace suppositories (3xday) this cycle. I've tried the oral estrace before in combo with del estrogen injections (every third day) but my lining didn't respond very well. My dr is just trying different combinations at this point to see if I respond any better.
  • @caseyw8784 I kind of like the patches because then I don't have to worry about taking a pill 3x a day.  But sometimes I feel I have to scrub myself raw to get the adhesive off.

  • Thank you ladies for taking the time to answer my questions! I ask because we are having the transferring 1 vs 2 discussion.  I'm thinking we will probably do 1 this time, since it's our first PGS transfer.

  • @Happydays13 I am so excited for you! I think you have given us all a lot of hope.

I am glad to read that everyone else is scared of PIOs. My RE said I have to be on them at least for a week after transfer, but they would prefer 2 weeks before they put me on suppositories. I am so afraid of my husband giving me a shot, I am kind of a control freak when it comes to them,

I had my 2nd ultrasound and blood work yesterday (Day 6 of Gonal-f & Menopur). My lining was starting to thicken. But, I had 35 follicles on one side and 25-30 on the other. The largest ones were 8mm. They said they don't like to see that many and that small on day 6 of stims. They have me on the lowest dose of gonal-f because I am high risk for OHSS. They said that with MFI and me being so young they expected a lot of follicles, but they were hoping for them to start growing and some to start going away by now. They said if I have too many it can impact the number of good follicles and my chance of OHSS. Is this something I should be worried about?

  • Im bumming out today. Half way there and I'm hitting a wall; I'm getting nervous it didn't work. I feel like my bloat feeling is going away. No faint lines on HPTS (this is why you shouldn't test early) I just hope each round that I will be one of those miracle stories that gets an early postive and is so overjoyed and happy. I mean I've done 10 procedures, I thought maybe 1 would end happily. It's never the case though. I always suffer through with negatives until beta.

Trying not not to give up, I know there is still plenty of time for the postive to come up. But man am I scared.

Wondering if if I should start considering a surrogate? Maybe it's my body? Just doesn't want to host a baby? Anyone else ever consider this?
Dont mean to be the Debbie downer again. Just trying to get a head start on preparing. With no frozens, I feel like I have a HUGE decision to make if this round fails.
