Re: August/September IVF/FET

  • @Colleen0516 the bromelian tablet is just like the pineapple core! So its almost like taking a double dose.

Pomegranate juice is just an antioxidant thats supposed to help. I forget exactly why though! It was tasty so i cant complain

  • @sleepyrn I did pineapple core too. Other than that, nothing special. I ate a huge caesar salad and minestrone soup right after transfer, though I'm going to go ahead and guess that's not on any lists for recommended post-transfer meals. Best of luck to yoU!

  • Hi ladies, congrats on the recent bfp's and transfers, and hoping everyone else gets good news soon as well.
unfortunately for me, my beta came back negative today. With no frozen embryos, I think DH and I are going to take a break from the ttc world. The last 2 1/2 years has been non-stop thinking about babies, disappointment, loss, heartache, and stress. We will meet with the RE a week from today just to ask any questions we have, but there's no doubt in my mind that we will take some time to unwind.
ill be thinking about you ladies and hoping for the best, and I'll drop in from time to time to check on you all.

  • @Colleen0516 and @ADRIANAC1982 - i think i once read that pom juice is often recommended before a FET cause it helps build up/strengthen the uterine lining...gets the blood flowing better or something...i think beets and raspberries are thought to have similar "qualities" as well...
  • Hey guys,

I had my egg retrieval done on Sunday. I called today to ask for a status update on the three embryos. I was given day 2 grades of 1C, 1C, and 2BC for my three embryos. I  think I get the numbers, but what do the letters indicate. Any help with day 2 grading?
  • @sleepyrn @Colleen0516 don't worry TOO much about food after transfer. I did nothing special at all. Just tried to drink plenty of water and get a full 8 hours of sleep every night. Try not to stress out about home remedies. GL to you both!!

  • Hello all! I'll have to spend the rest of this week catching up with what everyone has had going on. I was on vacation in Northern Wisconsin visiting my sister, brother in law, and 7 1/2 month old nephew the past week and wasn't on my phone too much. Got back around 12am last night and work has been crazy busy today, this is the first time I've actually taken a break, whew! I am exhausted! 3.5 hours of sleep does not do it for me.

Went in for my no-menses/pre-medication appointment this morning for FET #2 and waiting on the call to see if I'll start meds tonight, I'm on pins and needles! Picked up all my meds before vacation so that I would be ready. My luck is that since I was prepared, my body won't cooperate.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 Pleasure to join such a friendly group.. I have my first transfer scheduled tomorrow morning, assuming the embryos are ok. Anyone ever wonder whether their RE triggered too soon? My regular RE went on vacation..before he left he told me Friday would be the soonest they would trigger me. However, the new member of the clinic, a doctor fresh out of fellowship, decided to trigger me. I spoke to my embryologist this morning and she said it isn't that normal given my age and health for the only surviving embryos to be a count of 3 from 8 total fertilized. She said that a big possibility was that my eggs were not yet matured when they triggered me.
  • @mtpbadger glad to see you're moving forward!! FX that your body cooperates and this will be YOUR cycle! :)

@APM_SLP I hope your heart heals soon. I can't imagine. Glad you are moving forward... one step closer toward your happy ending!

@wifeinraleigh28 PIO isn't so bad. Even on the not-so-great days, the pain/discomfort only last for abt 30 seconds... then you're done! Don't have to worry about anything until the next day! It's pretty nice actually. I do mine in the morning... draw it up, apply ice for abt a min or 2, wake hubby up to inject! Then i just hop in the shower afterward and warm with water and do some donkey kicks to disperse in the muscle! Going in with the mindset of "this is for my future child, I CAN DO THIS!" helps too! :) GL!

Oh question for you @wifeinraleigh28 - how do you embed the tracker spreadsheet into the reply box? I've been trying with the "embed" code from google, but have been unsuccessful!

  • @wifeinraleigh28 that is great you are cleared to start your cycle! The PIO wasn't too bad - I think the build up to it was worse than the actual shot. It isn't fun by any means, but it's totally do-able.

Got the call from my nurse, my levels look good so I get to start meds. She is waiting on a final call from the transfer center to see when my FET can be scheduled so not sure if I will start tonight or tomorrow. Will be doing estrace vaginally 3xday and estrogen patches every other day (starting with 2 and eventually increasing to 4 patches just before transfer) My RE isn't messing around this time!

  • @APM_SLP I'm so happy you have a tentative date. That really helped me move forward as well.

@wifeinraleigh28 I have had the PIO injections with both transfers and honestly they are not as bad as you think they'll be. Yes the needle is intimidating but its over before you know it. I would ice the area beforehand and that would take away from some of the feeling.

I'm not a fan of the PIO.  DH hates needles and needed to be coaxed the first one.  He felt bad because it was such a large guage needle.  Last cycle I had it every other day alternating with suppositories and it was ok.  This cycle I get 2cc every night and I have to say it hurts a lot more (like the next day to the touch where it was injected).  I ice before hand and have DH massage it after to distribute the oil and prevent so many "lumps".  I've found cursing into a pillow to help with the pain.  I really wish I could alternate again, but RE is happy with my levels this time and I'll do what it takes to try to help my little frosties stick.

Also, I 'm loving reading all the updates about betas and hearing heartbeats.  Makes me hope to get to that point soon :)

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I got my dates wrong, my beta is Monday 8/29. Just wanted to update the chart.

@ADRIANAC1982 Im worried because she hasnt been on the board since posting the post about her chest pains. I hope everything is okay with her.

PIO: I was petrified at first. I used to numb to the point of frost bite lol but now, I dont even ice. I just load up the shot and have my hubby do it. I do it at night as part of my routine. I have to say though, my butt muscle has been super sore this round. Im making him press a little deeper to ensure its in (somehow i think it will help me get pregnant easier lol) and I'm feeling sore. I go for blood work tomorrow to check my levels.

  • @lilmissslp and @sleepyrn congrats on your transfers!

@Colleen0516 Yes, I'm holding strong and not testing!! How are you holding up? It feels like this 2ww is taking forever!

@kk4564 I'm so sorry. Wishing you peace and healing during your break.

@wifeinraleigh28 Congrats on getting started! You've been through a lot to get here, my friend!

PIO - I have taken it every day for four cycles now. In my experience, the injection itself is no sweat - it's the next day that sucks. I don't ice beforehand. After I draw up the meds, I put the loaded needle in a heating pad set on low for 1-2 minutes to warm up the oil. My husband does the injection for me and massages it in afterwards for 5-10 min. I walk around afterwards and/or put the low heating pad on it for a few min. The crappy part is the next day when it feels like a horse has kicked you in the ass. Not fun.

AFM, I am 6dp5dt. I'm not testing until Friday morning, which is the day of my beta. I'm not feeling many pregnancy symptoms beyond the usual progesterone stuff (extra hungry, hot all the time, bloated). The lack of symptoms is making me lose some hope. I'm just trying to keep myself busy and stay positive!

@BlueEyedDreamer I hear you on those progesterone symptoms. I'm only 2dp5dt and am so over them--just like with my IUIs I feel so full and bloated and my skin is one shiny oil slick. After the whole IVF process somehow this is the cranky straw to break the cranky camel's back, crankily.
  • It seems like PIO is the more typical supplementation around here. Am I the only one on team crinone? I'd love to know the reasoning for why some REs favor certain meds over others.

@Happydays13 Good luck at your ultrasound tomorrow! Can't wait to hear!

  • Wow- I feel like I've missed so much being on the road these last two weeks! Congrats to all the BFPs!!

Now that vacation is over, I'm jumping right back into it. Baseline U/S is tomorrow morning. If everything looks good it's time to prep for the transfer!

  • I feel like I missed some posts yesterday and not sure if I responded to all the news

@kelrauh I had lots of follies on my first u/s, I think over 30.. hopefully they all grow well for you and you don't get OHSS. I had really high estrogen but managed to just have a really mild form on OHSS in the end and we were still able to go through with transfer

@Colleen0516 I only had to drink 2 cups of water so I was super thankful for that but ready to use the bathroom straight after!

@BornReady I don't think I congratulated you yet! such good news!!

hope you had a nice break @mtpbadger I hope you get to start meds soon! It's always so exciting at the start of a cycle, excited-nervous. I hope it all works out for you this cycle!

@APM_SLP  it's good to see your starting again. Hoping your FET cycle goes well. fx crossed for you!

hello and GL on your cycles @Mous @thucks and @mjacks16. @Mous I'm not sure on your age, but I'm 31 and had 18 retrieve and only 3 survived to blasto stage. I have issues with egg quality and I think that's because I respond too well to the meds (I have polycystic ovaries) and I get lots of eggs really quickly. I guess it could be a possibility that he made a mistake in triggering too soon. I hope that your little embabies grow stronger and healthy before your transfer.

yay @wifeinraleigh28 so good that you start soon!! I haven't had any experience with PIO, currently on "team crinone" along with @BornReady it's not the nicest stuff but at least its not another darn injection.

@Happydays13 how are you feeling if it is twins? also when was your first scan scheduled for?

@BlueEyedDreamer I had no symptoms either, except the usual progesterone ones. GL i hope its a BFP for you on friday!

@sleepyrn 12 days! that's such a long time, you poor thing! and you are all so much stronger than me, I caved at 6dp5dt

GL @LeFemmeViolette I hope everything is looking good for you next cycle!
