Concerns - Not feeling very "nesty". I haven't started our registry, started a birthing class (required by midwife), or done very much pregnancy stretching. These concerns are all first world problems - but they all stem from this growing fear I have of being a mother and the fact that I feel very unprepared and kind of "what did I get myself into?". I'm excited about having a baby but when I stop and think about it, I feel very overwhelmed.
Rants - I'm ragey and my hormones are literally turning me into a crazy person. I cried on the phone with my brother yesterday and I'm all kinds of cranky today.
Raves - Lots of baby movement and we had a great anatomy scan last week. I also just hit 20 weeks which makes me very happy. Baby girl will be here sooner than I can even believe!
@TexasGal24 I SO feel you on the overwhelmed part! I'm working on the house and registry but I'm doing it a bit mindlessly, when I think too hard about it I start hyperventilating LOL!
Rant- the morning sickness is still making me throw up very randomly once a week or two weeks, and now heartburn is making me incredibly nauseated too and omfg I just want to not throw up and eat food like a normal person!!!!!!!!!
@TexasGal24 I can relate to not feeling very nesty. I feel really guilty about it because when I was pregnant with DD, she was all I could think about (not necessarily a good thing since I was in grad school at the time), and this time I'm still so consumed with her that I'm not focused on this baby at all. I've actually forgotten that I'm pregnant a few times (not since 2nd tri started though). I'm attributing my lack of motivation this time around on the fact that this is #2 and so while I am very, very excited for the new baby, what's way more real to me right now is the baby (well, toddler) sitting next to me in her high chair right now. I'm hoping that when we find out the new baby's sex in a few weeks I'll feel more motivated to prepare for him/her.
As for my other symptoms, I am experiencing some RLP,especially if I'm on my feet for too long, and my belly is VERY itchy! Also, I think I've officially popped. I posted a bump pic yesterday on Facebook and a friend who had seen me only a few days before commented on it to say, "where did that belly come from?! It wasn't there on Tuesday!" Lol
My RLP kicked it up a notch yesterday. Like kept me on the couch for the majority of the day. If I got up and walked around or did anything more than that, it felt like my uterus was just stretching tremendously. It was only on my sides, so I'm assuming that's what it was.
Otherwise, I'm really ready to start feeling both the urge to nest with the energy drive to do it.
We go back tomorrow for a follow up to our anatomy scan. I'm more concerned about him cooperating this time, rather than the tech finding a problem. Although I am super excited to see him again! He's been so active and I can't wait to see how big he is at this point. His kicks feel so hard and I can see my bump actually moving.
My cravings are out of control. So is my heartburn (and lingering nausea). I had to stop for gas this morning and realized I was out of Tums. I ran into the gas station to grab a pack and left with the king size Reese's. How did that happen?! Also I want spicy and sour food - the two worst things for heartburn. I'm trying to limit my intake, but I may ask the doctor for something stronger (I'm currently eating Tums like candy and I doubt you're supposed to do that). I'm also hoping the stomach acid is causing my nausea and the meds will help.
My feet aren't swelling, but my toes look really red by the end of the day. I read it could be related to swelling, so I'm going to follow up with the doctor today at my monthly check in.
@christac1010 My OB told me that if I was taking more than 5 doses of Tums a day to call in and she'll write a script for a stronger heartburn relief. Apparently too many Tums for several days in a row can be bad for the kidneys. (Actually, I've heard that calcium is what the vast majority of kidney stones are made of).
So I'm a FTM that's 19wks and 3 days and I haven't felt anything yet that I can definitely say is the baby. I've had strange sensations but they're not regular and could be other things. It's really freaking me out!!! I've asked loads of people and no one seems concerned but I can't help but worry. I think I'm worrying a lot this week as I have my 20 week scan on Friday. Getting scared!
Besides my lack of kicks I've been told by my friends and DH that I've popped this week. I didn't see much of a difference from last week but other people have! I'm also experiencing more RLP.
Rant: I know there is a thread about this, but I am so, so insanely uncomfortable when I eat a normal sized meal. I'll find myself so hungry so I'll have a snack, and then I just feel so uncomfortably full. TMI but gas pains, bloating, all of it. I find myself unable to eat a normal dinner in the evening because the uncomfortable-ness messes with my sleep. I'm not the largest person, but I typically have a huge appetite and my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, now so more than ever. I think I'm carrying the baby so wide/internally that it really has pushed everything around. Ugh. And of course, every time I get gas cramps or the insane bloating, I worry something is wrong with the baby, but then I remember it was because I had a simple meal or snack. Can't I just have a fun pregnancy craving and eat something really exciting and not feel horrible afterwards!?!?! GAHHHH.
@hayhay87 whenever I tell my friends who recently had babies that I can feel kicks (mostly when I'm worrying to them about why I still don't have a real baby bump over the past couple weeks), they all said they couldn't believe I was feeling movement already. Most of them said they weren't sure they were feeling the baby move until 21/22 weeks so I wouldn't worry about it! (easier said than done, of course)
@hayhay87 also just to add from my mid 20 weeks to 21 weeks (currently), it is CRAZY how different the kicks feel in such a short time from the little flutters/taps I had beforehand. at 21 weeks, there is no denying there is something in there moving around. the baby really does need to get bigger to feel strong movements. i bet within a week, you'll without a doubt be feeling the baby moving.
@newyearsbaby5 thank you for the reassurance! I'm not really sure what to look out for/ feel out for and I guess I expected it to be obvious. Hopefully we see a healthy active baby on the scan and those kicks will follow soon!
What is with all these headaches?? And I can never seem to get enough water, my lips are constantly dry and I'm always thirsty. My midwife told me to up my water intake t 90OZ A DAY!!
You guys, I've started peeing when I sneeze. Usually it's just a little but I literally peed my pants on Sunday while I was out for a walk. I'm constantly peeing so not sure how I can prevent this...
Very thirsty here, and super breathless from just talking. I feel like I am craving Powerade or Gatorade all the time. I try to stick to mainly water, but I'm just so sick of it.
I'm not nesting either. I think it will become more real after my AS on Thursday. Hopefully, we'll be able to find out the sex. I just feel like I need to know in order to prepare and move forward. I also am nervous about something being wrong even though there is no basis for that in this pregnancy. I feel like I'm guarding myself until I get a good AS from the doctors.
@HJ.Morgan I've been drinking 120oz a day for the past month. I was having headaches and leg cramps and overall very thirsty. Upping my water intake has helped a ton!
I've been having terrible terrible dreams. I have at least three dreams a night and one will wake me up with something frightening. Last night I had a nightmare there was ISIS in Rio after the Olympics and H (and apparently me too) got deployed to help fight it. I am over all the dreams and just want one night of restful sleep.
Calling my PCP to get this checked out as soon as they open but wanted to see if any of you have experienced this...
I've been having some trouble breathing; it started Sunday night and has gradually gotten worse. When I go to take a deeper breath, it feels like I have a side stitch, and if I lay down on either my back or my left side, I have fairly intense pain (and of course this is how I prefer to sleep). Dr. Google is making it sound like I may have a bruised rib but I really highly doubt that's what this is, because I haven't done anything extra strenuous lately or had any injuries in that area that I can recall, and I'm positive the baby is not responsible for it since I can feel that it's still confined to my lower abdomen. I feel like after my doctor checks me out they're going to tell me to take it easy... how am I going to do that with a toddler?! Anyway, if anyone has experienced something similar and has ideas as to what this could be aside from bruised ribs, I'd love to hear from you! I was thinking pulled muscle maybe but I don't think the pain would intensify when I lie down if that were the case.
Ugh the acid reflux is such a bitch. I was up at 2am with it last night feeling like I was either going to vomit or shit my pants. I took some tums and once the tummy ache went down I laid with my head elevated and the acid seemed to stay lower and keep me from burping so I could sleep. I know I need to probably just have dinner earlier every night, it just sucks because sometimes I don't get off work until 8.

Update: looks like a pulled muscle! Keeping an eye on it and resting as much as possible with a toddler; hopefully that's all it is and it'll go away soon!
@cjs260 Thank you! I talked to my doctor about my acid reflux at my appointment yesterday and he called in a prescription for me this morning. I can't wait to start it and see if it provides relief for my heart burn/nausea.
Also feeling kind of overwhelmed and underprepared. I am tentatively planning to go back to work in the beginning of November and I'd like to have the nursery and other major prep mostly done by then. Struggling to get started though!
Rants My right rear hip/glute/sciatica is still bothering me and is very painful at times. I'm trying to remember to watch my posture while walking as that seems to help, and also to stretch regularly. And new in the past few days is some swelling in my legs at night. I actually panicked a little the other night because my left leg was noticeably more swollen than the right, but it went down after I lay down for a bit with my leg elevated.
Raves Have been feeling the baby move pretty regularly for the past week or so. Also haven't really felt sick or had a bad headache in a while, though it's possible that's related to the amazing weather we had while in CA. I've never done well with heat and humidity, and it's been 1 brutal summer in NY. Hoping these symptoms don't return now that I'm home.
I'm feeling super nesty but actually can't nest yet- baby's room needs some closet demo-ing and rebuilding (it takes up the only crib usable wall so we're moving it) and we're waiting to find out the sex to buy furniture and decor. And I was rereading all my labor and delivery books and now I feel super ready to have a baby but obviously that's not gonna happen (FX for no micro preemies!) so I'm feeling super cranky about all that.
I am feeling nesty as hell but I need my husband to help with painting/trim and so forth and motivating him is a real pain in the ass. I can't wait until all the 'construction' stuff is done and I can decorate and organize.
Otherwise, I'm just tired as usual with the occasional RLP.
raves: found a vacancy in a Centering Pregnancy program in a neighboring town. First appointment is tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to participating in group care and hoping its a nice group of moms.
My rant this week is the worst sleep ever! Finally feeling well enough to stop my nighttime phenergan but apparently that's what has been knocking me out at night. I am tossing and turning so much and even though I love my pregnancy pillow it is kind of like wrestling an alligator every time I change sides. I've been waking up sore and stiff every morning.
Raves: Feeling baby move more and more through the day. Although he usually reserves Ninja kicks for bedtime, it's nice to feel him wiggling around whenever I'm still at work. I think it's helping me bond by thinking of what he's up to all throughout the day in there.
Questions: I need a good crib/changer combo that I can convert into a toddler bed and eventually a full size. All I'm finding are super expensive options that are kind of ugly. Anyone have one they recommend that won't break the bank? Concerns: This is more of a fear than a concern. I've been thinking a lot about DD's transition from being the only kid to having another one around. She's so sensitive, and I really hope she does okay with it. I am doing my best to talk up how cool it is to be a big sister, and how I'm a big sister too. She seems excited, but I don't want her to feel left out or sad. Rants: Morning sickness, go the hell away! I had a pretty good week last week, and then Monday it came back in force. I just want to eat somewhat normally and not feel like puking. Raves: I got a whole week of no puking for the first time since June! Hoping this is a trend that continues and that more and more weeks like that are on the horizon.
Today blows. Im so exhausted I'm having a hard time keeping my head up. Thinking I need more iron but I'm uncomfortable just upping the supplements they already have me on without having blood work done.
I bent at the waist this morning for something and spent 45 minutes in pain exactly 45 minutes because I decided 30 minutes in I'd call my doctor at 1 hour but it stopped before. They're kicking me now so I'm sure they're fine but damn, that sucked!

We found ours at Walmart; when I get a chance I'll try to see if I can find a link for you. I love the one we have!DH was able to put it together in about an hour, so that was a nice bonus.
@TinaBelcher ugh I have had a few days like that recently, where it feels like just opening my eyelids requires all the energy I have.
Have you tried eating/drinking more citrus? You need vitamin C to ensure adequate iron absorption, so that might be worth a shot before upping your supplements. I tend to feel better on the days I remember to add lemon to my water, but not sure if that's just down to better hydration or what.

Aw crud. No, no citrus at all because the heartburn is *so bad* but I could def add a vitamin C to my plethora of supplements! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely ask about it!
Last week starting on Thursday I had really severe sciatic pain. Like couldn't walk or move in bed without feeling like lightning shooting up my leg into the left side of my butt. I talked to three doctors who all said Tylenol and heat, which pretty much did nothing. Finally Sunday I got a massage from a massage therapist who has worked with people with sciatica and it helped so much. Just putting it out there for anyone who is suffering!

@emy730 this is the crib we got for DD! We chose the cherry finish, but they have lots of options. They also have a bundle going on right now where you can get this crib plus a mattress starting at $150ish depending on which mattress you pick. I might see if DH wants to order crib #2 tonight after seeing that!
