Dude, I've been getting heartburn at night after drinking WATER! Seriously! What the heck! Sorry no advice for help, just seems random when I get it :-/
Tums have been working for me so far, sorry I don't have any other advice yet! I hope you find something! Maybe try sleeping at an incline, I heard keeping your upper body somewhat elevated helps
If it's just a sleepy time heartburn, try lying on your left side. Chewing gum is also supposed to help some by increasing saliva production. But if you're not having any luck with other methods, I would ask your doctor about other OTC meds like Zantac.
Sooooo many tums. They don't really work all that great but it's better than nothing? I've had issues with reflux / exercise induced reflux in the past and learned then to avoid caffeine, dairy, peppermint, greasy food, tomato based anything and citrus anything. (And spicy food but I'm a wimp and don't do spice anyway)
Oh this blows! I had intense heartburn foreeeeever last time and carried a giant bottle of tums everywhere I went. I hear they make gummies now. But the only things that helped at all were tiny meals and nothing acidic (good bye red sauce ).
Not everyone's cup of tea, but a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar has done wonders for me. I mix it in with a cup of green tea because otherwise ew, but you can also mix it with honey and water (which tastes nasty imo). But hey, it's a once a day thing, so you just chug it and you're good to go.
heartburn really sucks. I get it all the time even after drinking water. The worst is with anything tomato-y (pizza, ketchup, etc). I second @canavara. Apple cider vinegar & water works for me. ALSO, helps with constipation

Literally everything gives me heartburn - broccoli, water, the coffee cake I just ate. I pop Tums like they're candy but they don't always solve the problem. I definitely didn't have heartburn like this until much later last year.
@canavara You just take it once a day and you get no heartburn? I think I need to try this...
For those that get heartburn after drinking water try and track the temperature. If I drink cold water, it causes heartburn more often than if it's luke warm or room temperature (I know room temp water doesn't sound great). During my last pregnancy, I got an amber necklace that seemed to help. Not sure if it was the placebo effect or if it truly helped but I felt better so I don't care. Just make sure if you are going the amber route that you are getting it from a reputable source that can validate the authenticity of the amber.

Yep. Just one tablespoon a day. Some people do 2, but I've never needed that much. It doesn't completely kill all heartburn all the time, but it does severely cut down on it for me when Tums and antacids did nothing.
That site says drinking it with a straw can make it less of an awful experience haha, but they also recommend it with every meal which I think is total overkill.
It the worst! I've had it all day today. My doc told me to take an OTC once a day that I take a night - prevacid and I forgot it last night so heart burn all day today, ugh. I really hate drugs so I am going to try the Apple Cider Vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar doesn't sound that bad I'm so gross. I'll try it. Last pregnancy, I would drink straight pickle juice and it helped too. Not this babe
So I haven't had terrible heartburn, but I realized today I've probably been experiencing reflux, which is occasionally triggering nausea and vomiting. Is that possible? I don't have constant nausea anymore, but my stomach is generally unsettled most of the time, and I often feel really full after only eating a small amount of food. I threw up this morning kind of out of the blue after breakfast - no nausea but the food just didn't sit right and then came back up a few minutes later.
Is it worth trying ACV for this? anyone have any other remedies for reflux?

The only reason I knew about ACV helping was because I had gastric reflux a couple of years ago and the doctor recommended it for that in particular--it's worth a shot
I have GERD which causes daily heartburn if I do not take a protein pump inhibitor (PPI) like Prilosec every day. Ive done my research and spoken with several OB's who have assured the safety of taking this medication during pregnancy.
Water actually makes reflux WORSE!!! The overflow of water in your stomach causes it to extend out, further relaxing the sphincter in your esophagus that typically keeps stomach acid in the stomach. If you're finding that your heartburn is daily, severe, or not better with the help of tums, ask your OB about a PPI. Too frequent of heartburn can cause issues that are painful and too many tums can actually lead to kidney stones in some cases.

Yes, this can totally happen. I find that I feel the same way most of the time, and I've definitely puked because of reflux. I've tried ACV, and it worked so-so. I take Zantac 150 twice a day, and am going to ask about a script at my appointment next week because nothing is helping.
Yuck, I'm not there yet, but my last two pregnancies have been the worst. If you're into essential oils at all, DoTerra has a digestive blend that really helps with heartburn, too. I'm sure young living has an equivalent, also. I'm really interested in the ACV suggestions, though! With my other two, it was so bad I had to do Zantac for one and pepsid for the other.

I'm interested in this essential oil. How do you use it? Is it topical or do you ingest it?
You can do either, @emy730. It's very effective and fast if you put a drop in 8oz of water and drink it, especially for any digestive/belly issues (DH swears by it, and that is huge, because he used to always roll his eyes at my oils...which, I did too before I used them). It doesn't taste that great, but oh well. You can also dilute it in some coconut oil or another carrier oil and put it in a roller bottle, or put it on your skin straight, wherever is bothering you (throat, top of chest, etc.). For my girls, when they are constipated, I rub some on the bottoms of their feet and ankles and it works like a charm, usually within an hour or two for that issue
I take Prilosec. My ob told me not to take tums because they contribute to constipation. I've never heard of the amber necklace, but may have to check it out.
@lillynch2015 Say what! They contribute to constipation? Ugh. I hadn't heard that. Basically everything that brings me relief is contributing to why I will never go to the bathroom again. Cruel tradeoffs!
@BAJDesigns I feel you!! I've resorted to choking down a cup of half car in the mornings again, just for the relief! (Coffee is definitely still an aversion of mine)
You can also take Zantac I think. I haven't had heartburn yet but last pregnancy I was maxing out on TUMS which can be hard on the kidneys so I plan to yet Zantac or Prevacid this time if I need it.
Not yet experiencing heartburn, but my friend who is currently 35 weeks has had it for several weeks. She swears by chewable papaya tablets. I'm sure you could find them at any health food store. It's the only thing that's worked for her -- was recommended to her by a mom of 4.
