@adiaz132003 the lovey thing and bath towel set up are genius! I'll have to remember them when/if the pacifier needs to stop. My mom used to use cloth diapers sheets as security blankets so that if it ever got dirty/lost she could swap it for a clean one without us realizing.

I am shocked the lovey is working. We are three for three on the naps!!! They may not be ling naps but when he wakes up its not in pain because of gas and he's all happy and smiling. I think he swallows air with the pacifier.
Eta: 5 min after I put him down I heard him trying to pass some gas. I went in cause gas always wakes him and he needs the pacifier to calm down but when I went in he was trying to chew on the lovey as the gas was passing so I just put my hand firm on his belly to help and I actually felt the little bubbles pass and he fell back to sleep. He didn't even need the pacifier to calm down. I know if I keep this up for naps that he will be able to grab/hold the lovey on his own and will always be able to soothe himself! Victory for me!
Any one else see the article about Tylenol during pregnancy having an increased incidence of ADHD? I came across it on CNN. I can't post a link because I read it in the mobile CNN app. Thoughts?

I glanced at it. I find it interesting because don't doctors tell you that Tylenol is okay during pregnancy? I didn't take anything except prenatal vitamins but I know of a few friends that took Tylenol during pregnancy.

The research doesn't show a causation and doesn't even show much of a correlation. The article said that there isn't even information so far to encourage practitioners to change their protocol which is currently to tell women it is ok to take. It does say women should be encouraged to try other forms of pain relief first and take minimum amount needed to reduce pain. I didn't take anything but tums and two antibiotics while pregnant but was encouraged by my OB to take Tylenol if needed.
The past couple of evenings have been rough. Damien starts fussing...well more like has a meltdown...at around 6 or 7 and goes until 10ish. I figured out last night that sitting him on my legs and jiggling them just slightly to create a sort of vibration really calmed him down. We haven't tried our bouncer in ages since every time we tried to use it, he screamed and cried. Well knowing that his has a vibration feature, I dusted it off and put him in it this evening when his meltdown started. TADA, within seconds he passed out (seriously, seconds).
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works throughout the evening and I don't have problems getting him to bed.

Exactly. I looked at the raw data quickly, and unless I interpreted it wrong, they have risk ratios around 1 which means there is no difference. I would take this study with a grain of salt.
Ugh this summer has been so gross and hot but luckily I still got quite a few tomatoes to grow! I'm not much of a gardener. Amy gardeners out there. I think I wanna start a proper one in the spring cause fresh produce is getting pricey and I'd rather grow it myself.
Oh boy. I have a phone interview for a part time HR job at 2pm. Freaking out a little! (Maybe a lot). Pray the kids stay quiet. And that I don't make a fool of myself. Haven't had a professional job interview in almost 8 years! (Ok, that makes me feel old).

Thanks everyone! I talked to the owner of the company, and now I really want this job, lol. It's up to 20 hours a week, pays almost what I was making hourly for my last FT job, and best of all it's entirely from home! So dh and I could manage it with little or no need for childcare. She is talking with a few other people tomorrow and said she will get back to me Monday about a potential follow up interview. Fingers crossed!
@AmberLiz99 fingers crossed that the job works out! It sounds like a great opportunity.
S and I spent 5 consecutive hours out of the house today, running errands and stopping into my office to introduce him to my coworkers. We've been trying to get out of the house more and more with him, but its usually been shorter trips where we do one or two things at a time. I was so happy about how smoothly everything went, and he was an angel the whole time.
Tomorrow afternoon he gets his 2-month shots, so we'll probably be laying low for the weekend.
I flew for the first time with LO. Older DS made the trip driving with my parents, but 12 hours with a 3 m.o. seemed impossible, and there was a direct flight. It was totally full, the plane had AC problems and DS2 had a huge blowout diaper during beverage service so I spent most of the flight trying to clean both of us up in the tiny airplane bathroom. I had planned to nurse but didn't feel comfortable because of my seatmate. By the time we landed, my boobs were on fire. Total disaster! At least we arrived safely (although stinky and late) and I remembered extra outfits in my carry on.

Damien decided he was hungry but didn't want my boob during the night. Bottle-feeders, I don't know how you have the patience to prep a bottle at night. We have a Tommee Tippee, which is great for heating up a bottle from the fridge in minutes but I've been spoiled with breastfeeding since there's no prep.

I was never good at warming breast milk at night. This time around I'm using formula which we give at room temperature, so it's super easy to mix and feed at night.
Lindsey Stirling's album comes out today and you can bet your butts I plan to get Preston hooked!!!! We already dance to her other albums in the mornings. Lol

We load up a plastic formula dispenser and prep the bottles with room temperature water (and keep them on the nightstand) so all we have to do is dump the formula in and shake it. We also have a baby Breeza (it's like a keurig for bottles) which we use during the day.

Seems like you have a good system in place. Someone was just telling me about the babybreeza's Formula Pro, sounds pretty handy! I assume that's what you are referring to? I would definitely be using that if we switched to formula. We have their food maker, haven't used it yet but definitely intend to once he is eating solids.

Yes, I love the formula pro! We got it as a baby shower gift. Super convenient. Dispenses warm water too! The key to success with this machine is to keep up with the cleaning otherwise the spout gets clogged and it doesn't dispense correctly. We have the food maker as well, can't wait to use that! We're going thru tons of formula!

I usually prep all of my breast milk bottles the night before and we use the Avent bottle warmer. It warms the bottle in about 3 minutes. I generally use this time to change him if necessary or if I am really on top of things, I am warming before we reach full meltdown and have it ready before I even grab him. I find that now that I switched to Dr. Brown's bottles the prepping is essential...so many parts! However if I was desperate I would just use the Medela bottles I use for storage...I bought some nipples for them just in case.
I don't warm her bottles... The few that she's had she takes cold. Other than if I leave the nipple on in the fridge and it's cold in her mouth, she doesn't seem to mind and I can put whatever breast milk she doesn't use back in the fridge.

This is giving me anxiety!! I'm flying alone with DS who is 3 and LO to Florida in October. I'll have plenty of help once I get there but I may need some Xanax for the flight. DS is potty trained but if I had to take him to the bathroom with LO on the plan id die. I'm thinking about making him wear a diaper. He will be so confused when I tell him to pee his pants lol.

I've been thinking of testing out cold breastmilk to see if he will take it. He seems to have no issue with cold gripe water so it might work.

Hopefully the flight isn't too long! I will send happy travel vibes your way. I think if you are prepared, everything will go smoothly and/or you will be ready for the curve balls! I am a terrible planner/preparer, so it was just by chance that I even had an extra outfit for him.

I don't warm bottles either. My son doesn't care. Boob, bottle, warm cold as long as he has milk that's all he cares about. He does get very frantic when he's hungry so I don't know what we'd do if he refused cold milk. Even when I'm trying to get situated and comfortable to breast feed he is impatient.
Well, I took a gamble and got burned. Size 1's are starting to get tight in the waist and since we have a million size 2's from the baby shower diaper cake, I moved her up a size last night. She blew out the leg this morning and then proceeded to pee on me while I cleaned her up. Now I know not to experiment at night AND I need to go buy more size 1 diapers.

Haha I took the same gamble yesterday: my sister left some size 2's from a visit and 1's are also tight on my LO, so I put the 2's on. Well she let a juicy one rip while nursing...which I instantly felt drip warmly down my leg and onto the couch. She thought it was hilarious.
Omg o feel like the worst mom ever!! Clipping his nails he made a sudden movement and pulled against the clippers as I squeezed and cut halfway through the tip of his finger!!!!! Took him a second and it wasn't bleeding at first then the tears came and it held a little. Everything is still attached and he stopped crying in less than a minute but I still feel horrible!
I'm thinking about signing up for a 6 week body back boot camp. I have never been one to exercise besides walking and a few yoga classes, so maybe this boot camp will be the accountability/motivation I need! I like the fact that it's only moms in the groups. Anyone done or doing something like this? Just trying to decide if it's worth the money.

DH did that a couple weeks back, he looked like he was going to vomit when he realized he cut her. Since then I have just been biting them lol

I haven't done it but it sounds like a great idea! I may look to see if there is a similar thing in my area. I agree it would help with motivation, and it could be a great way to meet some new people.

I started taking a baby boot camp class when I was 8 weeks pp. I love it. The exercise is hard, but the community is fantastic. It's been a little hard to get there consistently because the class meets at 930, which is right smack in the middle of Sam's morning nap so I'm still working out the timing, but I really like it and would definitely recommend it.
