Re: WTO Thursday

  • @linzrunz That makes me feel even more confident about CD17 O. Today could be your fallback rise -- I have experienced that with 2dpo being a low temp then shooting back up 3dpo and later. (Last month my 2dpo fallback rise was really low and I had tons of EWCM which was incredibly confusing! Estrogen surge.)

@dilynne Sorry for CD1. Hope you can find something to brighten your day.

  • P.S. in case anybody does look at my chart- there are a lot of open circles, but its only because I don't adjust the time to when the temperature was taken. It is recorded at variable times. I'm trialing a wearable device soo I don't really know what time the temperature is from, it takes 40-50 observations each night and records the lowest temp each night.

  • @mrsdee15 Yay! Great news! FX for your IUI!

@PolarBear517 Have you ever O'd CD8 (so early) before or are you tracking other signs like CM or o pain? It definitely looks like a temp rise but CD8 is so early.

@Slam1110 Ha, thanks, and true that is a silver lining! I'm still joining all my meetings by phone which is a drag. But honestly, you are right -- and I'll probably be happy at 5:30 when I'm already at home.

  • @adirat I have never tracked O before and this is my first month off HBC so I don't really know what to expect! I remember my cycles being longer than 28 days as a teenager only because (*embarrassing admission*) I used to think 28 days was standard and always tested when I was "late" on off-BC cycles but ended up getting my period a few days later anyway. So I'm thinking I was just around a 30-32 day cycle at that time. Who knows what 7+ years of HBC would do to that pattern. My OB said it can be normal to experience either delayed or early ovulation the first month off of birth control (but it seems like the delayed response is much more common, per anecdotal data from this board?). I have not turned any OPKs although they were darker around CD 8 than they are now... I was only testing once a day though, thinking O would be much later.

  • @PolarBear517 That's tough. If you are in cycle 1 off birth control you may also be seeing random fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone without ovulation. Without another fertility sign (CM, OPK, o pain) it's harder to tell. My first cycle off birth control was bizarre and had a lot of temp fluctuations.

  • Running late this morning, I'll post and come back to comment later!

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD: 13

    WAYDTGKU: HIO, CM, green tea

R/R: Watched the Great Sperm Race and now I'm very impressed by sperm. I'm wishing I would've bought a thermometer earlier (mine hasn't been delivered yet) because I have no idea if yesterday was O day or not. I had lots of EWCM and felt some ovulation cramps, today my CM is turning watery again. If only I knew it was O day yesterday, I could relax on the whole HIO thing

    CS/Q:

GTKY:  How did you and your DH/SO meet?
We lived in the same dorm freshman year of college. He was the cool kid from the city and I was from the podunks. One night we passed each other on the lawn (I was going to my car and he was coming back from his) and we talked so long that we ended up sitting down on the grass and talked for about 2 hours. We were friends for awhile and then began dating.
  • Thank you @adirat for the info yesterday! (just caught up on WTO Wednesday)

  • @rainbowturtles I started vitex on day 6 of the current cycle. I take the FertilityBlend brand which has vitex, green tea, and some other stuff. *possible TMI but relevant if you are considering it* The first couple days I took it, I had loose stools, and it gives me a stomach ache if I take it on an empty stomach. The loose stools mostly went away and if I take it with a meal, I don't get a stomach ache.

I specifically started it because of my short luteal phases (see this study about its effect on luteal phase progesterone: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17211965). I asked my doctor before I started it and she said it's safe to try if you are tracking your cycles because you'll notice if you have side effects. I haven't gotten to my luteal phase yet so I don't know if it's helping. My acupuncturist said you may have to wait 3-4 cycles to see impacts from vitex.

@antoto Yes! Hope we don't see you again in WTO! ;-)

  • Thank you so much for the CS and the insight @adirat !!

also, @rainbowturtles I plan on buying a better thermometer if this cycle doesn't work out. Didn't think it'd make much of a difference but I'm totally regretting not getting one earlier.

  • @adirat thanks for the info! For my luteal phase is fine, I'm more concerned with lack of CM and possibly low progesterone. But I do have chronic constipation so BRING ON THE LOOSE STOOLS!!! Haha so THAT won't bother me if I do end up trying it  :D

GTKY:  How did you and your DH/SO meet?

He came to visit all his friends that went to my college and one happened to be my roommate. He was dating someone at the time but he dumped her when he transferred up to my school. We started hanging out and the rest is history.
  • @CallMeMrsChaos - I have the same issue! Thanks for asking. I figured I was just a newbie and slow. haha

@slam1110 @rainbowturtles - Those are great ideas! I was thinking of using scrap paper to keep track, but duh! Why didn't I think of a word document!? (I am usually bumping on the laptop, iPhone is too hard for big responses)

@Adirat - My PCP is the bomb.com! She already messaged me back saying yes, I should get my thyroid checked ASAP and to do a hormone check CD3 next cycle! (Of course I just missed it this cycle...)

  • @callmemrschaos DH and his sister are two years and three days apart in age.  Other than his mom needing to organize annual birthday parties on two consecutive weekends (because she wanted them each to have their own when they were little instead of sharing) it didn't bother them at all.  I think his mom would only have relatives over once to celebrate them both, but for their friends she had separate events.  DD was born 3 days (and a lot of years) after my birthday and I'm pretty happy that it's making people forget that my birthday exists.  I could stand to not age anymore hahahaha.  But if I conceive next cycle (and my dates remain as they normally do) #2 would have a birthday very close to mine and to DD's, and it doesn't bother me much.  Actually there is a 6 week time period right now where we have: mother's day, DH's birthday, our wedding anniversary, father's day, my birthday, and DD's birthday.  So I actually think #2 would feel lift out of his/her birthday was outside of that time frame!

GTKY:  How did you and your DH/SO meet?
Match.com - woo! Coming up on eight years together (three married).

    @chocolatelemons That's like a movie scene!

@mamashan12 Ooh, that's infuriating. Don't touch my stuff!

@luckywife10 I've just started drinking a daily green tea, but it's more to keep my caffeine levels down (instead of having a massive black coffee) and my hydration up!

    @tripledaggerWed95976 Yay! Match.com ftw.

@BusinessWife Lovely dogs. Your German Shepherd is like my lab-kuvasz cross - 90lbs, almost 3 years old and still a complete puppy!

@linzrunz That's an awesome story. I'm picturing you as a really old couple, turning to him and saying "you know, I still don't really like you" :)

@PolarBear517 You can set a default time in FF. Anything that makes life easier in the mornings!

  • @CallMeMrsChaos There's lots of good tips if you want to respond to a lot of people but I also want to share that you don't have to feel pressure to respond to a lot of people. I tend to just respond to the 1-2 people I feel I can really help, especially since I often log on later and most people have already been helped. As far as the birthdays being close, I don't really think it's a huge deal. I have a pair of younger cousins born 4 days apart, 1 year apart and they don't seem to be bothered. They had way more joint birthdays as kids and as they've gotten older, they just do their own thing with their friends.

R/R: The board is active today! All of the more reason to get my act together before work. Not much to say today. Soaking up the last days of summer/teacher planning. I have an extra busy weekend coming up and will be team no sleep starting very, very soon.

    CS/Q:

GTKY:  How did you and your DH/SO meet? We met on my first day of high school. We remained friends through college and don't tell everyone this, but we were actually long distance friends with benefits in our first two years of college (he played rugby and was always at my school for away games). It wasn't until I was home one summer that he asked to take me out on a date. I was very emotionally guarded and wanted to say no, but needless to say I'm glad I took the chance.

@luckywife10 Sorry about CD 1. I definitely agree that there's a learning curve to overcome in the first couple of cycles. It's good that you and your DH are communicating about the BD'ing now, so that it does not become a stressful topic for you both in the future.

@Dilynne Sending hugs your way. This sounds like me last cycle. It's so much harder when you have that feeling like it might really be your time...and then it's not. I hope you do take time out for your mental health today, even if it's only outside of work hours. Usually it helps me to look towards the next cycle, but sometimes you just need to get away from it all before you can get to that point.

@slam1110 I don't discard temps but in your case, I would add a note if possible and also note the time difference. I'd rather have a slightly elevated temp there for reference than not there at all, but it's just a personal preference of mine. Because you could be close to O, I would keep it and override FF's estimated O date if needed.

@CallMeMrsChaos No advice for mobile bumping, but when I'm on a desktop I will open the WTO/TWW post in multiple tabs...one so that I can browse, and one so that I can reply. I'm sorry to hear that you struggle with OCD. I have clinical anxiety & depression and going off meds to TTC has been a whirlwind. I've said it before on here but I really am a master at worrying about things that have not even happened yet. My brain is always ten steps ahead. I'm not a therapist so I can only talk you down so much, but just try to keep in mind that in the big picture this is a small detail, one that you don't even know will be an issue.  If you are fortunate enough to get your BFP this cycle, then you will have plenty of time to figure out things like birthdays logistically. There are so many things in life that cannot be solved/worked around, but this is not one of them. You'll make it work!

@BusinessWife FX for your HSG this cycle. Your fur babies are precious! I cannot wait for DH and I to move so that we can finally settle down somewhere and get some of our own.

(edited for wording because as usual I'm a mess)
  • @deadasthatsquirrel I still tell him that (jokingly of course haha)!  Actually 'like' to us means more than 'love'.  We promised to always love each other, but that doesn't mean we have to always like each other.  So when we feel especially mushy and loving, we will say 'I like you' and it means so much more to hear that.

Also, I'm wondering if there's a story being your name.  I giggled a little when I was typing it. (and now I'm hoping that there's no sad story behind it....)

  • @meilay. Generally, you're going to see a pretty sudden change from fertile/"peak-type" to not so fertile-type after O, but you still want to consider yourself technically fertile a day or two after O.  So even if you dry up, or it goes from clear, stretchy, and/or lubricative, to pasty/creamy/sticky, that last day of Peak-type is a good sign of O.  My Creighton teacher has me asking the "essential sameness" question.  Like if there is some degree of stretch and it's clear, is this essentially the same as the previous day?  Or if it's stretchy and lubricative still, but cloudy in colour, do you feel its "essentially similar" to that previous day, or "essentially different"?  Dunno if that helps...

@deadasthatsquirrel. Omg!  That was my last guy!  They told me he was a Pyr as a puppy, but then he was mostly 76-80 lbs only, (he also had mega-esophagus tjo).  So one day someone saw him in the yard and asked if he was a kuvacz and I was like, hm! I wonder!  Great dogs though. Here DH thought we'd be compromising with a smaller dog in the GSD (rather than full 150lb pyr) and here we are at almost 100 lbs and not even a year yet!  Lol joke's on him ;)
  • @linzrunz Ha! No, not a sad story. It's from a TV show called Blackadder:
Blackadder: Does your father know you’re out?
    Amy: He had to go.
    B: You mean he’s dead?
A: Yes, dead as that squirrel!
    B: Which squirrel?
*Amy shoots into the air, there's a squeak and a thud*
    Oh, that squirrel.
When I was a kid, it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. Who am I kidding? It's still the funniest thing! :D

@BusinessWife Big dogs are the best dogs! Her favourite thing is to lean up against you and get a good scratch. We don't need to bend down to reach her any more and you end up pinned against the nearest wall!

  • @rainbowturtles on the saliva issue… I can’t help, but I can commiserate. It’s not an easy thing to work into conversation.

@Dilynne Sorry about CD 1. That sounds like a really rough one.

  • @laurad75 It worked! Thanks for your help.

Now I can complain about my all over the place temps this month... ugh...
  • @rainbowturtles nothing different but I have been stressed so I think it's just related to that.

@Dilynne I'm sorry, I was only a couple days "late" this month but seriously got invested in the idea that we "did it".  Then hello AF.  Have a drink and doing something for you.
