@Piperella - I get the desire to at least be given the choice. But to echo what PP said, there are lots of studies saying the older kids in the grade have an advantage, so I'm not concerned. There are things that can be said for DD starting school earlier depending on her readiness & maturity, but (for us at least) it's nice to think that she will be with us at home for another year. Of course I'm not paying for daycare so that would put a different spin on things...though we will enroll in preschool for early learning.
I got tired of walking into our work bathroom and smelling someone else's poop at least once a week every week, so I decided to buy a cheapo air freshener to stick in there. No one has said anything to me about it, because I didn't tell anyone I was the one who bought it... but I am officially dubbing myself the hero of the office because of this. It smells so good when I walk in there now! Which, you know, I have to do like every hour to pee.
Re: video monitors... we registered for a video monitor, which we will probably end up buying ourselves (which is totally nbd... it's like $250, I wouldn't expect anyone to buy it for us) because DH is a technology nerd and wants the biggest and best of everything. No way he'd go for an audio only monitor if a video one exists.
Hopefully it'll be worth the money in the future. I like the idea of being able to see Baby to see if there's an actual issue, or just sleepy baby noises.
@bnsmith85 I feel for you. I hate making weekday plans! I can barely get myself to my workouts 2x a week. lol. I bailed on Taco Tuesday with a friend yday because I was too tired. I think right after the baby shower, i'm gonna be a hermit for the entire month of September.

@MRSCORKER, show me your ways. I can't seem to say "no" when people ask me to do stuff. That's my problem, i can't say no. Ugh. Gotta start practicing saying "no" because I don't wanna go to every kid's bday party when this baby is here. And no, i don't wanna be at every soccer game, and no, i don't want to be a part of the PTA stuff, and no, i don't wanna volunteer to help set up the classroom....

Ha, I have no problems with this. Sometimes, I'll make up some other thing I "have" to do even if that things is a big fat nothing. I've isolated myself a great deal during this pregnancy, I think just because I'm easily stressed and I need to minimize outside stimuli. Also, it's too hot for activities.

Re: the monitor talk, we are so dedicated to spying that we are actually going to get a new one because we don't like our motorola very much. So we are going to use the registry completion discount and get the Infant Optics DXR-8. We have the previous model (as a gift from in-laws b/c we are spoiled) for a travel monitor, and it has such crisper pictures and better sound - the only thing it didn't have was the in-room temp reader, but the new model has it so we are sold OH and remote pan/tilt/zoom! So yeah....we figured we would have to spend another hundred bucks for the second camera so if we want a change we should do it now instead of being stuck with the motorola for another 3 years or so.
I'm ignoring my stranger danger alarm and posting this pic of DS. Thanks to all of you for your kind words/support this morning. I was definitely feeling sorry for myself. But, this afternoon I'm feeling pretty good. DS wasn't down for a movie, but we've been playing cars. And by that I mean, he's been playing cars and I've been stuffing my face with Teddy Grahams dipped in peanut butter. Sorry not sorry, potential GD.
When I picked him up he said, "You took too long today! I was sad!" (Even though he was there less time than usual).
@ibabyloveb87 Ooh, you like that Motorola Connect one? After I researched a ton, that's what I decided on - and BONUS, someone got it off our registry!! I really thought we were going to have to buy it ourselves. The Motorola Connect had the most positive reviews of all the monitor reviews I read, so I took a chance. So glad you like it!!
P.S. I totally plan on setting it up BEFORE baby arrives to see what our dogs do during the day while we're at work...yes, this is crazy, but I really can't wait to see!
Our cutoff us cureently August 31 which I find way too early! I guess unless it changes, we won't have an option of when he starts school.
Same here, but I think it's September 1st. We were just talking the other day about how ours will be the oldest in his class. And we'll have to pay an extra year of day care...
@ibabyloveb87 - what monitor do you have that allows to view on the monitor and your phone? Or do they all do that?
@emmaaa - I'm a September birthday and started school early. I switched schools and was held back because I wasn't as far advanced as the school was, and being older for my grade was totally a huge advantage for me. I'm also happy that an October baby here would mean going to school older. I'm sure we'll do a private pre-K or something if she's ready for it early.

When I was awake and couldn't sleep at 2am (west coast time) last night, I was thinking of making a "bumpers in the night" thread for insomniacs and those in other time zones, so there's more real-time back and forth (in one location) during those odd hours. But I settled for poop/bathroom discussion on the random thread. I still think a bumpers in the night thread would be great, but my god after reading that F17 thread I'm scared shitless (haha, no pun intended) to unintentionally create a PSC-like drama over here
@LMNOBaby As crazy as my MIL is, she got ours of the registry. Always a plus! And no judgment here, we have been watching our dog for days.
@MorganL925 The model is what I posted earlier... MBP834CONNECT I believe. You have to download the Hubble app and then set it up. I did none of the set up - let my DH do that part and he was super into it. He's even talked to the dog through it

Ladies, I'm feeling like it's been forever since I've seen this baby. I was 18 weeks when I did my last ultrasound. I'm tempted to get a 15 minute 4d elective this weekend. They're on sale for $68! I just wanna see what he looks like now.

This is the video system we are getting (or at least registered for). My DH swears that monitors cost more when they have they word "baby" on them. He researched this one and many people use it as a baby cam. We are going with two cams so we can have one downstairs and one upstairs. This way we have the main areas where baby will be covered.
Speaking of video monitors, I have to admit I had a total tinfoil hat/conspiracy theorist/the G-men are after us moment with one. We hadn't planned on getting a video monitor, and had registered for a regular one, but most of our family doesn't know about our registry because we didn't have a family baby shower or send out announcements or anything. So, a Nest video monitor was randomly delivered to our house, with no card or slip to show who it was from. I can't find anywhere on the packing slip who sent it, and can't figure out who to call from the company to see if they can tell me. DH wanted to set it up, but I said no way until we find out who it's from, what if this is an elaborate plot to hack into our lives! (Ridiculous I know, it's not like we're wealthy or political figures, but hormones...) Finally I noticed the phone number listed under our address was not mine or my husband's so I asked him if he recognized the number. Turns out it was his cousin that sent it, which was really nice because the Nest monitors are not cheap. I hadn't even thought about how nice it will be when little one gets here and if I hear her making a noise I can just check it instead of hauling myself up the stairs, we live in a townhouse and our place is tall and skinny.
@CopperBoom86 "embrace the paste" is officially my new motto. I used to say "I'm sun-kissed porcelain" but yours is better
Living in an apartment with a baby who will be sleeping in my room it never even occurred to me to get a baby monitor but thanks to @LMNOBaby I now want one to check up on my fur baby!
Also I had an ultrasound this morning (no 4D), but baby is head down and too big /squished up to really see anything. We never saw his face. I also had one at 28 weeks and the doctor tried to get a picture because baby was sucking on his toes but she couldn't get it all in focus at the same time. Obviously I'm a sample size of 1 but just an FYI.
@bnsmith85 - nope no wifi on that monitor. We like it that way though because we are tinfoil hat type people. But the one @Piperella shared looks like a good wifi one.
@F47 - your son is SO CUTE. We have a blondie too, and I hope DD is the same.
@chriscasey33 - I'm usually up til super late, I promise not to flame you for accessory thread making if you do start one. Plus we are WAY tamer here than Feb. They are more like my old BMB and I'm surprised they haven't gotten more bans since TB changed ownership (things are way different now).
@TurtleMomma Someone started a thread about pumpkin spice cheerios. Board etiquette/starting new threads was called out. OP apologized, but then somebody chimed in who had been a member for a day saying that they didn't like the board, because they were too strict and it's not how her OTHER BMB had been. And now they're talking about pumpkin spice BJs. I wish I could say I'm not busy at work, and that's why I had all the time to read through it. But I am busy, I'm just also easily distracted.
@chriscasey33 I'm open to a thread like that... half because I think the name is so cute and half because I'm up late/on the west coast so it still seems a little early for me when things die down for the night.
@Julia70286 I'm hoping I don't have too many insomnia nights. (I had to do a late airport pickup which contributed to this time.) But I also am sad when I'm unwinding on the couch at 9pm and things have died down. I'm just ready to get started!
I'm also on the west coast @chriscasey33, so a thread like that would be awesome! Sometimes I'm ready to bump at 9pm 10pm, then I realize, everyone is asleep on the east coast.
@annabenanna If I could find a deal like that for a 4D ultrasound, you best bet I would be using it!! The only reason I'm not paying for one is because the place nearest to us is 45 minutes away and I would have to miss more work. Boooo! I want one so bad.
