okay so my husband and I are having a hard time deciding on names for our twin girls, we like Greek goddess names.
Our kids names are Aphrodite Nicole and Athena Lynn, Perseus Michael and Ares James.

the names we have picked are.
Rhea
Iris
Nyx

middle name possibly is Mae for both girls.

which one is best?  If you have other Greek Goddness name ideas they are welcome. Thanks.

    Rhea or Iris.

Nyx just reminds me of "nix" like either the lice treatment or like a slang someone might say "I am going to nix that idea"

  • I like Iris.
    DD: Ophelia 5/18/15
  • Don't like Nyx at all.  I think Mae goes best with Iris. Rhea Mae just doesn't flow well to me.
  • Iris Mae sounds lovely. I agree with others I am not a fan of Nyx/Rhea.

    Other choices:
    Aura Mae
    Alethia Mae
    Chloe Mae
    Ersa Mae
    Gaia Mae
    Halia Mae

A lot of those are not our style but I'll run them by my husband, I know Alethia is a no go since we already have an Athena and it sounds too close.

I like Iris best, then Rhea. No to Nyx. I feel like the girls should each have their own middle names, since your other girls do already and being twins they'll share so much already.  Other Goddess inspired names:

    Asteria (Astrid?)
    Artemis
    Hera
    Calliope
    Daphne

    if Roman mythology is ok:
    Camilla
    Juno
    Minerva
    Diana

  • I like Iris and  nyx just reminds me of the makeup.
  • Iris and Ares sound way too similar... or maybe that's just me. Rhea seems like your only option but it also seems sort of dull compared to the others.

For twin girls, I think Iris and Rhea are nice.

    Other suggestions, some already mentioned:
    Artemis
    Minerva
    Persephone
    Astraea
    Demetra
    Selene

  • From other PP's suggestions, I think Calliope and Demetra would be a good pair. Different enough that each twin would have their "own" name/identity, but still  strong mythological goddess names...
  • I like Iris best but I agree with PP that it's too close to Ares for my taste. How is Rhea pronounced? I've seen ree-uh, ray-uh, and ray.

  • @vineheart137 - Not sure if this is the correct way or not, but my great aunt was Rhea, and everyone pronounced it like "ree"...
  • I fully admit that Nyx is a guilty pleasure name for me, but I love Nyx and Iris.

Also like Daphne, Chloe, Artemis, Demeter, Phoebe, Theia, most of which were mentioned earlier.

  • I love Iris but too close to Ares. I love Rhea but have to admit it does make me think of diarrhea... Nyx - hadn't heard this before - sounds negative to me like nix.

Suggesting as as some others have as well:
    Irene
    Gaia
    Selene
    Astraea
    Cybele
    Thalia

    Love the god/goddess theme!
